I have been trying this new method. How can you get it to sit closer the scalp? They also slide right out on me. I am old school with the slip knot method from 20 years ago.
Unfortunately this method stays further from the scalp because of the mechanics of the knot (having to make a loop below your thumb). Even the best of us can only get it about an inch away. If you are newer at it, you'll be at about 2 to 3 inches away. There are techniques you can do to get it closer, but these are best explained one on one. Basically you want to keep your window as small as possible, your loop as small as possible, and complete the knot as close to your thumb as possible. I always say "small and tight" lol... Hope that helps! If you'd like more formal training, please take a look at the training page on my website feathersandfairyhair.com/services
Looks easy but for some reason every time they just slide right off the hair. I’ve tried several different methods from RUclips and the same thing keeps happening. I may sign up for a training, just want to be able to do it for my daughter 😊
Hmmm... I'm not sure what is going on, but I have some ideas ;) make sure you're twisting the loop all the way around 360 after you pull the loop down under your thumb. Then make sure your loop crosses the latch before you grab the strands in the window. If you're doing all that and it's still not working you can send me a video so I can take a better look to see if I can identify what's going wrong. Or you can take the Sparke Basics training! Let me know! 703-703-9433
Hi Lori, first it sounds like you are not twisting your hook the full 360 degrees after you pull the loop down and hold with your thumb and ring finger. Once you pull down and make that loop, you need to twist your hook from facing away all the way around and back to facing away from you. Make sense? This makes the strands cross each other which is vital to the knot. Second, what do I charge for what? If you need me to show you over video how to do this knot, I wouldn't charge you ;)
Ohhh I see ! Thanks soo much / I am very determined to learn this and was embarrassed yesterday when my friend came to have me do it and the knot kept slipping out ! I e been practicing on a wig with questionable hair😵
Unfortunately because of the way the fairy hair knot is created by pulling the loop lower than the thumb, it is difficult to get this knot on the scalp. In fact most knots won't be able to be done right on the scalp. This one in particular stays pretty far away. Typically you'll make the knot at about a half inch to an inch away from the scapl, but yes, the closer the better! This comes with lots of practice. I offer affordable training even over video, so if you're interested in learning other knots that are more secure and can get closer to the scalp let me know! www.feathersandfairyhair.com

Hi there! I'm sorry you're having trouble! There could be a few things happening and it's hard to tell without seeing it. Would you like to video chat so that I can actually see what you're doing and you can watch me do the knot as well? Let me know and we can find a time! My guess is that it won't take too long at all. My number is 704-703-9433.
@@loriboswell7911 Please see my response above to Julie. If you need help, I'm happy to do that over video at no charge. It's hard to know exactly where the process is going wrong without seeing what you're doing. If the knot is sliding, then you could not be getting the hair into it, or you could not be tightening well enough, or another reason. Remeber, the basic fairy hair knot is an ok knot, but there are better and more secure knots that won't slide on the hair. These are part of my training.
Hi Julie, just wanted to check in again on your progress.. How is the knot coming? Did you still need help? Were you interested in video chatting at no charge?
Yes! Good question! So if you look at the mechanics of this knot, it's only a simple knot, like the one you use to tie your shoes. This will loosen from the hair over time. In my training I show you how to make this knot permanent to the hair so that it will never loosen or fall off. www.feathersandfairyhair.com/training

We don't need to get these right against the scalp?

Hi not sure what you mean "this is a good knot but not the best knot" ... please explain
