- This is one of those rare projects that took so much effort and was such a relief when it turned out properly. I've had this idea for about 2 years and I'm so happy everything worked out. this so far is my favorite project I've ever done on the channel. And that day of sledding at the end was totally worth the wait.

And I second that! You are truly blessed to have a brother that is smart and a very good craftsman. I have enjoyed watching his RUclips seasons and family grow up. Most importantly, how he includes Lucy in to his hobby. I did the same thing with my daughter, who is now 31 years old and just married. Katie grew up to be a beautiful, well-rounded, well-grounded and talented woman. She still remembers things that we did together, which really solidified our very strong father-daughter relationship. I wish you all the blessings in the world on your adventurous journey with your family.

Nice job on the 'sled' or a toboggan? Doesn't matter to me. I grew up in Iowa and everyone called it a sled. Whether a toboggan or a saucer disc or a railed sled. I really enjoy your videos. Especially how you include the family in them. Keep up the good work, your vids are really improving. And I am actually learning things (wood working is not my strong suit!).

Thanks for the question. I think it was Ash. I don't really remember for sure. Generally hardwoods are going to bend easier then softwoods
How much time elapsed from soaking to bending the wood if I might ask?
24 hours I think

What are you doing at the 16:20 mark?
Good question. I was wondering if people would understand what that was. I was rubbing a paraffin wax on the bottom of the sled and then melting it to fill all of the remaining voids and make the sled quicker.
@@WyldeWoodworks I guessed at that, I'm glad I was right. My kids asked what you were doing. I said "it looks like he's waxing the sled, it will make it move faster on the snow, but also adds an extra layer of protection. That's paraffin something my grandma used to seal her water color paintings." I'm so glad I was right. Beautiful work, and wonderful memories for you and the girls.
What kind of wood did you use?
Ash
pretty sure maple is the recommended species. I don't think he ever replied.
Ash is the correct flexible strong wood.
