What’s the difference between basic and classic and what’s more the best?
The classic I would say is better. The classic retailed at $90. They have a different leather, no metal dubrae, among other small stylistic changes. Its basically closer to the Cortez in Forrest Gump that was released back in 1972. They also use the Nike Cortez Classic name for the Women's version of the shoe from what I gathered. Hope this helps. Let me know if anything is incorrect.

@@Im100DeGrees they're pretty much only available on the secondary market that I'm aware of. So websites like stockx and goat probably have them. Hope this helps.
@TYRONE BASKETBALL, the basic is cheaper by a good $20 or so, the classic doesn't come with the silver cortez 72 on the laces, and the whole shoe itself isn't as wide as the basic especially in the heel. The outsole on the heel also doesn't curve into the white midsole and instead connects onto the colored midsole that would be before it. The nike tab on the tongue can also be a different color

Did they eventually stretch overtime? I'm thinking of going true to size but worried it might be too tight around my toes. I have fairly narrow feet.
They stretched a bit. They still feel snug around the toes but to me it wasn't a big issue for me. Hope this helps!

I see the basic have a chunkier sole, does the classic have the leaner sole? I also notice the basic has the Nike swoosh on the back and does the classics have just NIKE on the back? I have a lot of Nikes in my collection, but just want to get a pair of Cortez and rocked them in the 89’s when they were the main Nikes to have and way before the movie Forrest Gump movie came out, I think in the 90’s.

The ones with the red line are just a different colorway, the white/gym red colorway. Hope this helps!

They're glued down but you can remove them pretty easily.

Is true to size, most people get a half size up, I personally don't do this because after while leather stretches and relaxes. Same goes for the nylon versions

It's a staple piece of clothing for Chicano culture. Not necessarily gangs, but it definitely has some claim on it in the West Coast areas. You're thinking more along the lines of crips and bloods.
This isn't the only color, most gangs that use these shoes are Hispanic and primarily use the blue/white, black/white and white/black also possibly with laces to match the color of the swoosh
