Great vid Q 👍🏻 As for the PAL issue. 2 ways can fix this. 1).. Access the ICON information by right clicking the icon and then adding in tooltypes the word PAL 2).. in S: you can edit the Whdload.prefs file and I comment PAL or NTSC to make all games work as PAL or NTSC. 👍🏻

Thanks for this. If there’s one thing I’ve learned since getting into Amigas it’s that everything is complicated (more than it needs to be), most things you just have to know, and likely that there’s some 20 year old arguments going on about some direction.

Sad thing is we could have a much more user friendly experience on the Amiga but the copyright issue's and the lack of development on the OS side makes it hard to setup for new user.
Specially when using a high end classic Amiga it would be nice that during a fresh install so many modern features would be detected and installed like network, RTG graphics (P96) and what not to have a better 'out of box experience' instead of tracking down, buying, installing and configuring all those different products.
Oh well there are at least some nice distro's (most of them illegal) available that have done all the hard work for you.

WHDLoad is a beast to install. I always have to back and look up videos on it. My own and others who made better guides. DevKicks, if I recall is where you place all the special ROM files WHDLoads to make games work. Its a series of files you download that contain all the Amiga systems.

WHDLoad is easy to install - but the games compilations are a bear to move over even with WUAE. That’s why I have a few premade (ebay) CFs that I use to block move the folder. And between my various amigas (3.1-3.2) not all games work.
Now if I could only find a folder with Shapeshifter preconfigured to move over!!

?? 7zip extracts it rather quickly. You also want to be using a quality USB3+ spec thumb drive. With high read/write profiling.

will it run games/software on my 1200 that isn't AGA? so like 1988-1990, that sort of era. ?
I tried something called Relokick which boots into a fake A500, but it doesn't work on all things sadly.

All standard A1200 machines are AGA. Its the A600 wasn't equipped with the AGA chipset. If it is an A1200 you should be fine, the only problem you might have is with the disk drive for some games. These were the later A1200s which came out around 1995, produced be Escom.

True, there’s just so many in WHDLOAD, it seems like them all. Especially for us in the States who didn’t get anywhere near the amount of games Europe did.

when you launch the game, it often includes the keys you can press to activate what’s available. it’s the splash screen that pops up briefly.

I'm having an issue to with PAL games in Amiga NTSC 500 with ESC. If I boot the amigas as PAL and run the game from floppy it works perfect, but when I boot as pal and run the game from Amiga OS3.2 I get the bottom cropped. Any idea?

    • @HoldandModify

I don’t know tech sadly but I’d say something about 3.2 must be a culprit. Or possibly a WHDLpad setting? The Facebook or Discord groups are the place to get the best answers. Well, at least sometimes, heh.

Dumb question but I have FS-UAE with an Amiga 1200 being emulated. I have a folder of WHDLoad games configured on the main menu.
Within the Amiga 1200 specific config with Workbench 3.1 installed, I just have to add the folder of WHDLoad games and I should be able to double click them to load them?

    • @HoldandModify
      @HoldandModify  Год назад

If the games are installed with their WHDLOAD profiles (cfg and game data) then as long as WHDLOAD is installed, then they should run, yes.
