Dustin did a very thorough job that's for sure. I have a similar-looking unit down here in New Zealand but mine has some differences, maintenance advice has only ever been to take the filters out and vacuumed them, then maybe also wash them if they are very dirty but I find a light vacuum is all that's needed - However, never have I seen info about applying a cleaner and hosing off the internal unit as is shown here. Ours is normally a dust vacuum before and during Summer, say each month or so - this includes a vacuum of the removed filters and then a vacuum of the body of the unit where possible. The 'radiator' is quite fragile and the blades can bend easily so care needs to be taken of course - same also applies before and during Winter - other than that the machine isn't used. Our climate is deemed temperate I believe as it doesn't snow here and Summer only gets up to around 30 - 32C max at times (around 86 - 90 Fahrenheit)
My Fujitsu has an electrostatic additional filter (a green rectangular filter) this part wasn't on this unit so I'm unsure if my unit can be hosed off or not. I'm now assuming actually with the correct preparation it can be physically washed like this one. I've never seen this method of cleaning - man, it's very thorough that's for sure! I will need to do more research now - Dustin man, you did a really great job! It's great to see someone who obviously takes pride in their work! 👍 That's a commendable trait that seems to have been missed by many people these days.

Kia ora, also researching how to deep clean our Fujitsu Asta 18lcc installed 2008. Have lived here last 3 yrs and only cleaned the filters once oops! Have you seen the cost of replacing the air and deodorising filters in NZ! At least 300 bucks for a pair of each. Ironically the manual instructs not to wash but too bad cause I have and Dustin obviously did. I suspect mine are in need of replacing but the cost is prohibitive imho. Not sure I'm game to attack the inside unit with water but may dismantle to get right inside. All the best with yours 😊

Regarding the two small rectangular filters, one is blue and the other is beige. The Fujitsu manual states you can carefully clean the blue filter for up to three years. The other beige filter is called the Apple Catechin filter cannot be cleaned. It has to be replaced at 3 month intervals. It is very expensive for what it is. Something like $50.00 - $75.00 for that small filter. If you wash or clean it it will no longer work as intended. At that price I can see why they rather clean it. You can buy aftermarket filters for a way lower price but they don't function the way Apple Catechin filters work to remove bacteria and virus's. Either way the Mini split will still function.

@@thrivermedias1880 I did, but I am embarrassed to admit I don't remember how at this point. (All I seem to recall is there being some hooks or something up top close to the wall). l
The issue for me is that mine was leaking inside due to a drain clog. I was able to clear it by using a portable compressor and blowing back into the drain line from outside.
FYI: I first tried this with a shop vac reversed to "blow". Several tries and no luck. It took the intense burst and power of a portable compressor -- like one you would use to fill car tires or operate a nail gun. Worked like a charm and it's been fine ever since. Good luck, and so sorry I can't remember how I was able to remove the whole shroud.

I did remove the blower wheel on mine twice in 8 years.. it's doable. Disconnect power from the unit and when the cover is off proceed to disassemble it, mostly on the right hand side the electrical connections that go inside, one being the motor. At some point its possible to lift out the wheel-motor assembly (it's one part) for cleaning. Takes about 30-40mins first time to do that.

Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) ruclips.net/user/postUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.

Mine stopped working. I already had to replace it after 12 month lease, my tenant just moved out and it worked for 3days and it won't work! Even though I made it perfectly clear multiple times that the air filters need to be kept clean, it's the dirtiest looking thing.Ive ever seen! Any advice?

There are three hook type clips that must be disengaged along the top near the wall. the center one is easy. Once you see that one you understand how the other two work. The one on the left isnt too bad but the one on the right is a bear. Good luck. and I could not find this simple bit of information anywhere else on the web.

    • @joansparky4439

how: disconnect power and then keep removing screws, unhook cables mostly on the right side until the black pan part can come out (unit needs to be levered off the wall at the bottom a bit for this).. then the wheel-motor thing can come out and be cleaned - also gives better access to the evaporator coils, but still not possible to make this like-new, as corrosion and mold sits in places that one can see but not really clean. Did this on my Fuji twice in 8 years and need to do again.

Now for really bad news, I have 8 indoor units and 4 outdoor units to clean the next few weekends. Guess I'm going to get VERY good at it and I'll happily retain the $2-3k it was going to cost me.

According to the Fujitsu manual ( holland) the 2 little filters should not be washed but replaced. These filters are, i guess then, impregnated and that should be the reason.By the way these 2 little filters cost a fortune and hardly nowhere to get, so i just let them in. One is for bad smell and one for germs. Does anyone for sure know wether they can be washed or not?

    • @joansparky4439

they are "worn out" after 6 months and useless.. and yeah, no source, not even for the "catechin" to dip them in and refresh them. The mold+corrosion going on in these units renders those little pieces of cloth a joke anyway - I've had mine apart twice in 8 years (wheel+motor inclusive) to clean and there is spots where it's impossible to clean mold+corrosion.

depends on operation mode.. different materials in there (plastic, foam, metal) with different parts heating/cooling will cause expansion/contraction which causes pieces to slip-stick (similar to plate tectonics, just way way smaller) which creates noise
