  • Colonial Williamsburg is filled with garden inspiration. On my last visit, I really liked a garden structure around the newly planted raspberries, so I decided to build a similar trellis. They use historic materials when building garden structures, and I use bamboo because I don’t have access to those materials. So this trellis is a similar build (my way).
A few posts back, we dug out this area, placed hardware cloth in it to prevent voles from damaging the plants, and planted the new raspberries. I’ve had so many raspberry shoots from the single plant I bought last year that I didn’t even need to purchase any new ones, and I had to move the new plants to this location. They don’t look like much right now, but next year I know they might take over that section of the herb garden.
I planted the raspberries next to the mint because it’s supposed to be good for raspberries. I’ll see how it all grows and how this type of trellis will work.
