Pokemon FireRed But I Take Damage Every Step!

- It's old school poison damage all over again... but worse. I modded Pokemon FireRed so that every step, all my Pokemon take 1 HP damage, and yes that goes down to 0, and for some extra difficulty I removed all sources of renewable healing items. This makes it a completely unique and difficult challenge which is exactly what I like, and hopefully you do too!

Thanks lol, even if a video might look pretty barebones editing wise there’s a lot of small stuff that I do to make things look as smoothly as possible which most people don’t notice, so it’s nice to see someone recognize that :)

I've just made it to Pewter and it's got me completely ensnared. I've been coming back here to compare strats, even though the first stretch seems like you need to be very strict to complete it, as we were nearly step-for-step. I will say, you can save about 20 steps getting to Brock if you try to leave Pewter, as the guy blocking the route to Mt. Moon will walk you to the front door of the gym. I'm digging the variance in approach, and I'm sure it will only open up more as the rest of the world does.

Saw this last night and I can't stop thinking about it. Found it fascinating how you put some more handicaps for yourself to make it more difficult like not using up the Rest TM. And of course seeing any similarities/differences in Strat compared to Smart.
Maybe this video will finally give me the push to finish FireRed myself 😭
I’m glad you liked it! I like playing with dynamic rules of banning things on the stop when I think it’s necessary so I don’t just constantly use one broken strat, and it worked out nicely because I ended up using a bunch of different mons! And good luck with finishing FireRed :)

Thanks! Kanto is really wacky, you can do gyms 3-7 in almost any order I believe. The only requirement I can come up with is needing to beat Koga before Blaine because of Surf.

I went in, grats on making Viridian forest absolutely fucked. But MT moon is easy after doing this. Catch jiggly puff with good hp iv and switch farm until it learns pound. Use pound and sing until lvl 29 to get rest. You now have ~150 hp and 10 rest's worth of steps.
Oh that’s interesting, I didn’t know it gets rest at that level!

Yes I did! That’s why Smallant’s starter when he played it was named Viperio. And I indeed removed potions from the pick up loot pool

does that also include that you removed the potions from the pickup ability? got like 5+ hrs in pokemon emerald with this 1hp dmg per step and still havent safely gone pass oldale town
Yep correct, if I remember correctly I replaced the healing items (including a TM and leftovers) with antidotes in the pickup table. Good luck with your run!
@@Viperio_19 up to about 20+ hrs played and so far made to Rustboro finally :D and even got a shiny Poochyena grinding levels, any changes to the shiny rate or are it left as the standard 1/8192

Honestly I have no idea. I think there are emulators for mobile, but I'm not sure how patching on mobile would work, so you might need to do some workarounds to get the actual game on your phone
