They only thing that could make the PJ better is if it was glossy like the old school Yonex sticks were. The colors remind me a lot of the Yonex RD-8. I hope this fad of matte PJ's will end at some point.

How would you compare the 97H to Wilson RF97A? Which is easier to hit, has better slice, better forehand, serves, volleys? Which is more stable? Which would you rather use?
I’m a former RF97A player (red/blk then all blk); tried the Duel G 330 just for fun, made the switch, then bought the 1st VCP 97 330. The lower RA makes it much easier to handle, larger sweet spot, less strain on the arm. Yet still solid and enough heft not to get pushed around.
I have played with a Babolat pure strike, Head gravity. Today for the first time played with a Vcore 98. It was not the pro but simple one. I have to say Yonex racquets are simply amazing. The control and feel are class apart. Easy to drive and direct the ball. I am definitely shifting to Yonex racquets.
In your honest opinion. Do you truly think that the VCORE Pro 97 310 offers more power than the Pro Staff 97 315? I'm looking for a frame that plays with the control of the Pro Staff 97 but offers a bit more pop and comfort as I've been dealing with some mild tennis elbow lately. I would be adding a few grams of lead to the tip of the VCORE 97 310 just as I do my Pro Staff 97 315. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the purchase or not. Honestly mate the racket itself is not the only factor to look at for more power, your first call is the string setup preferably a hybrid to increase power than add a little weight like 2 grams to the 12 0 clock position.
How would the 97 or 100 compare to the others (ezone or vcore), also looking for a new racket coming back from an injury, used to use pure aero (lite). Want something to help regain my form and technique but also would not just give it to me
i have to tell you, TennisNerd, Yonex may not be your favorite stick but iv been watching your videos for years and it seems that you look best on court with Yonex in your hand. You look like a Tour Pro whenever you are playing with an advanced players stick from Yonex.

@@marineterovic7789 I used Gosen Micro 16 gauge which is a synthetic gut string. I tried the 310 gram version but the racquet wasn't for me. It was a bit too low powered and the racquet came in over spec weight. I also found it to be too clunky for my taste.

Bit turned off by the low swing weight of the 310. I wonder if they got the specs wrong at TW and you actually have the factory swing weight? The 330 sits at 343 swing weight that's a massive gap.
Is it easier to defend with this 310 version than with the previous one? I mean, attacking with 2019 version was absolutely great but I was very sorry to have dismissed it because playing against big hitters was a bit difficult for me. In all the other aspects was the favourite racquet for my kind of game
How does the 310 compare to the 2021 Head Radical Pro? More stability and pop than Prostaff as you stated seems to be the same sentiment as with the radical pro.

Great job. Old school hitting; flat, one hander. Have the blue/orange VCP 97 330 and will demo the 97H to see if it’s worth the switch. 61 RA is intriguing; not crazy low like the Clash/Gravity. Shocked by the missed specs, the Yonex sticks from the JPN plant are usually on point.
Jonas do you know anything about the 97L (290 grams) version? Would this be a similar racket in terms of control and precision to the 97 (310 grams) standard version?
Heavy racquets do not cause wrist and forearm issues! Stiffer lighter frames with full 'string beds' of 'poly' do! It is vibration and twisting not weight that is the driver! Your shoulder strength determines how heavy you can go. My spec is 368g at 315mm ( 9 pts H/L) balance, for 4 years no issues, with heavy set-ups, you need 7-9+ pts H/L to maintain maneuverability and to control your added power and plough through, increase string tension + 3-6 lbs.
It depends if you start hitting the ball late, most rec players do with a heavy racquet. I agree that heavy frames overall can be comfortable though, but a bit more demanding on the shoulder.

The vcore pro 97 h is going to be my Racket of choice. My onehanded backhand loves this frame. My slice is huge. Nice feel with this racket. The weight is 363 gramm with 2 overgrips, protectiontape and Vibrastop. I felt it on my forarm, but I have to say it was cold and wet. I like to play with it. My guess is, the vcorepro does, what do you send from your arm and static.
Hi Jonas, I really appreciate the info you are sharing in an unbiased way. My wrist and elbow are sore. I was playing with the Wilson Burn 100 and 100S. Being that I'm not a young lady it is very hard to find an appropriate racquet that isn't too light and stiff or too heavy. An instructor I respect turned me onto the Burn 100S thinking that would be okay for the arm but it wasn't. I don't want to buy another racquet that will hurt my arm. I have watched your videos on arm comfort frames. I have explored many different frames accordingly and I'm at a loss. Do you think the Yonex Vcore Pro 100 is legitimately okay for the arm? With a flex of 63. Or is it like the new Wilson Blade that has lower flex ratings but you felt it was stiffer than what was stated.
I am very interest in seeing how the vcore pro 100 compares to my ezone 100. I have been trying to find a middle ground between ezone 100 and ezone 98, maybe this is it!
Bruno i have the same problem. I like this 3 models. Miss control in offensive shot with Ezone100. Miss forgiviveness in defense with Ezone98. Miss power when i am tired with VcorePro100. But I love the feeling of the 3 models in Test. Time to choice for me. Which one use now and for what ?

demo-ing Vcore pro 100 and pure strike 100. Like both. Pure strike feels nimble, Vcore stability solid against drives, But, kind of feel the finesse shots on vcore takes a bit more effort and getting used to. Would changing strings from demo strings to mix of gut and soft poly help feel and touch in Vcore pro? Is the Vcore pro100 a good racquet for doubles…hit and approach/volley? female dubs player currently play w Pure Strike 98, gut. Thanks for any input!
Yonex could really fix their the lines’ names...VCore Pro, and VCore Spin Update: I said that thinking among the lines of Babolat racquets..but not even VCore Spin, but something like VCore Balance The more powerful the racquet, the more low to high your swing path to make the ball dive down. The least powerful, the more linear your swing path can be. A middle point would suit their name...Balance or something like that.
Pulled the trigger on a 97H today at my local shop. Found one with a SW of 306 which is right about where I like it. Out of the 3 I looked at, the unstrung SW measurements ranged from 306 to 312. For anybody who's picky about the SW they like, it's a good idea to use a matching service or buy locally.
Thanks TN. I'm shocked by the swingweight increase of the 97D over the previous HD. Since you got an off-spec frame with 4-5SW more that makes it 336-337 SW? That's a massive bump up from 326 SW in the previous version which I can *just* swing effectively. That makes resisting an upgrade super easy haha.
The gem of this line is the 97d. Just switched to it from the vcore 95. The pattern is considerably more open than a blade 98 18x20 so the spin potential is still very solid. I added 10 grams under the bumper to arrive at my usual spec of 360sw, 354 static and a 32.5cm balance. I have a head 3 in 1 machine so those are actual specs. Strung it with confidential 16g @46lbs. This is the best feeling racquet I’ve ever played. the ball pocketing is excellent, and at my spec the stability and depth of shot is really noticeable.I run a junior development program in Toronto and play roughly 8 hours a day. Couldn’t recommend it more.

I hit a lot with advanced juniors as well, but 360sw still seems high, particularly if 10g added only at 12 and none to the handle. Having said that, I started adding lead to my 97D, and so far I found that 3&9 isn't necessary at all, so now I have 3g at 12, but I don't have a sw machine anywhere here so.. But naked it was on spec. Do you play one handed or two handed bh pls?

How are the grip sizes, same as in all newer Yonex frames? That is, if you've played with a 3/8 from many other brands, 1/4 is the one to go with a Yonex to get more or less the same size.

Surprised you didn’t like the 97D. I’m an intermediate player and it’s my favorite out of the bunch cuz of the 18/20 pattern. As someone who hits extremely flat, I have so much confidence with this stick that my balls are going to stay in the court. Came over from a 2021 radical mp (and I definitely can’t say the same for that stick).
@@ztimbo the lower launch angle off of an 18/20 pattern is gonna make it harder to generate spin, yes, but this can be remedied by stringing an 18/20 pattern as an 18/19. Good middle of the road mix of both control and spin potential. Also the new version of this racket - the percept - comes in an a 100 in head size with a stock 18/19 pattern. I’d recommend that as well.
Great review again thanks Jonas. I find the cosmetics awful, like the vcore with a dash of blue. Maybe Yonex is trying to mimic the Head Gravity's rainbow paintjob. Also very surprised by Yonex QC which is meant to be the benchmark. I don't understand this though, if the balance is as specced, then how can the swingweight be off so much? Is swingweight measured with a control string or unstrung?

Maybe the blue could have been integrated all around the frame instead of just on one side of the throat, i don't know. Its very personal i guess, like shopping for socks haha.

i played a little with the 97 310. it felt so light and hollow. i was concerned about the hollow feeling, but it felt pretty stable. lot of spin. shots that i was sure were going to go out stayed in. very underpowered. i liked it a lot.

I currently own one VCORE 95 (2021). I need a second racquet: should I get VCORE PRO 310 or get the second 95? Are they close enough in specs that I could use both? 310 is so incredibly tempting :)
You said the previous generation is lacking Stability due to head light. I own the 2019 310g after adding lead and an overgrip, the current is 340g. Its perfect for me!! It's Easy the correct that issue, just add lead tapes on head and on handle and Problem solves. Nothing complicated most Pro do Federer, Wawrinka, Nadal, Djokovic, etc. They used older frames and always added many lead tapes. I tested this 2021 310g and also noticed same issue. It needs to add lead tapes. Not perfect neither!! To me it's Not worth to spend money on new frame.
Just Demo’d the 97H; same luscious pocketing as my current VCP 330 1st Gen (blue/orange) - and that pocket seems to be even bigger. Really shined volleying. Strung w my usual Solinco Confidential 17G. Update: arrived. Added weight to handle - 9 pts headlight now. More powerful than 1st Gen by a considerable amt - really feel it on the 1HBH and 1st serve.
Such a shame there is no stock extended versions of the 97 standard :(. I love playing with extended lenght frames because of the leverage i get while serving and more comfort for my two handed backhand (i have big and wide hands). But most extended lenght frames are too powerful, I tried the dunlop cx200+ but swingweight was kind of high. What do you recommend me?
Xtp buttcaps, or they're called something like that anyway. They extend rackets by 0.5 inches. You basically take off buttcap of racket and replace it with this one. You must get it in the size you need though, obviously, so that it fits the handle size. It does raise the handle a tad in that area though, so good advise I think would be to get a grip size lower in your racket, use a heat shrink wrap sleeve to increase size of handle by 1 and then replace buttcap with xtp one (or whatever its called). Obviously cutting the sleeve to fit with the new buttcap. Keep in mind that the sleeve may add a fair few grams and the xtp replacement buttcap might as well, so using a lighter version of the racket and weighting up once all done to your specs would probably be best. Sounds messier than it is, but it's obviously harder than just buying an extended length racket. But this way you don't have to actually make the extension yourself and you can extend any racket you want by 0.5 inches.
Like you said, if this new Vcore Pro is considered muted and not that of a direct feeling racket then Yonex should really think about their most "controled" line. Still a lot of room for improvement
Doan, it's a tricky balance for tennis manufacturers. they dampen the racquets to protect from injury, and feel is sacrificed. I have the score 95 and with thin 1.20 poly and no vibration dampener on the strings, I think there's more than enough feel. I really respect Jonas and his channel, but give it a try for yourself. thankfully, where I come from, there are retailers that hire out racquets and deduct the cost of the hire from your purchase price :)

The vcore 95 has more power than the 97 310g. The vcore is a thicker beam. Way more feel in the 97 imo. I'd say try the ezone 98 if u want more power.

An instructor I respect turned me onto the Burn 100S thinking that would be okay for the arm but it wasn't. I don't want to buy another racquet that will hurt my arm. I have watched your videos on arm comfort frames. I have explored many different frames accordingly and I'm at a loss. Do you think the Yonex Vcore Pro 100 is legitimately okay for the arm? With a flex of 63. Or is it like the new Wilson Blade that has lower flex ratings but you felt it was stiffer than what was stated.

demo-ing Vcore pro 100 and pure strike 100. Like both. Pure strike feels nimble, Vcore stability solid against drives, But, kind of feel the finesse shots on vcore takes a bit more effort and getting used to. Would changing strings from demo strings to mix of gut and soft poly help feel and touch in Vcore pro? Is the Vcore pro100 a good racquet for doubles…hit and approach/volley? female dubs player currently play w Pure Strike 98, gut. Thanks for any input!

The more powerful the racquet, the more low to high your swing path to make the ball dive down.
The least powerful, the more linear your swing path can be.
A middle point would suit their name...Balance or something like that.

Pulled the trigger on a 97H today at my local shop. Found one with a SW of 306 which is right about where I like it. Out of the 3 I looked at, the unstrung SW measurements ranged from 306 to 312. For anybody who's picky about the SW they like, it's a good idea to use a matching service or buy locally.
Thanks TN. I'm shocked by the swingweight increase of the 97D over the previous HD. Since you got an off-spec frame with 4-5SW more that makes it 336-337 SW? That's a massive bump up from 326 SW in the previous version which I can *just* swing effectively.
That makes resisting an upgrade super easy haha.
Do you still play with the previous version? Debating which one to buy since the old version is cheaper and the beam is slightly thinner

The gem of this line is the 97d. Just switched to it from the vcore 95. The pattern is considerably more open than a blade 98 18x20 so the spin potential is still very solid. I added 10 grams under the bumper to arrive at my usual spec of 360sw, 354 static and a 32.5cm balance. I have a head 3 in 1 machine so those are actual specs. Strung it with confidential 16g @46lbs. This is the best feeling racquet I’ve ever played. the ball pocketing is excellent, and at my spec the stability and depth of shot is really noticeable.I run a junior development program in Toronto and play roughly 8 hours a day. Couldn’t recommend it more.

I hit a lot with advanced juniors as well, but 360sw still seems high, particularly if 10g added only at 12 and none to the handle. Having said that, I started adding lead to my 97D, and so far I found that 3&9 isn't necessary at all, so now I have 3g at 12, but I don't have a sw machine anywhere here so.. But naked it was on spec. Do you play one handed or two handed bh pls?

How are the grip sizes, same as in all newer Yonex frames? That is, if you've played with a 3/8 from many other brands, 1/4 is the one to go with a Yonex to get more or less the same size.

Surprised you didn’t like the 97D. I’m an intermediate player and it’s my favorite out of the bunch cuz of the 18/20 pattern. As someone who hits extremely flat, I have so much confidence with this stick that my balls are going to stay in the court. Came over from a 2021 radical mp (and I definitely can’t say the same for that stick).

@@ztimbo the lower launch angle off of an 18/20 pattern is gonna make it harder to generate spin, yes, but this can be remedied by stringing an 18/20 pattern as an 18/19. Good middle of the road mix of both control and spin potential. Also the new version of this racket - the percept - comes in an a 100 in head size with a stock 18/19 pattern. I’d recommend that as well.
Great review again thanks Jonas. I find the cosmetics awful, like the vcore with a dash of blue. Maybe Yonex is trying to mimic the Head Gravity's rainbow paintjob. Also very surprised by Yonex QC which is meant to be the benchmark. I don't understand this though, if the balance is as specced, then how can the swingweight be off so much? Is swingweight measured with a control string or unstrung?
I have the score 95 with the dash of blue and it looks much better in real life than pictures online.
@@rsan1704 yeah i agree, i had a VCORE 95 with the splash of blue and it does look better in person but i actually preferred the all Red paintjob for some reason. Maybe the blue could have been integrated all around the frame instead of just on one side of the throat, i don't know. Its very personal i guess, like shopping for socks haha.

It’s a bit plusher, I prefer the 97 over the new 95, I like the feel and control more on the Vcore Pro, especially when you hit a flatter shot

i played a little with the 97 310. it felt so light and hollow. i was concerned about the hollow feeling, but it felt pretty stable. lot of spin. shots that i was sure were going to go out stayed in. very underpowered. i liked it a lot.

I currently own one VCORE 95 (2021). I need a second racquet: should I get VCORE PRO 310 or get the second 95? Are they close enough in specs that I could use both? 310 is so incredibly tempting :)

You said the previous generation is lacking Stability due to head light. I own the 2019 310g after adding lead and an overgrip, the current is 340g. Its perfect for me!! It's Easy the correct that issue, just add lead tapes on head and on handle and Problem solves. Nothing complicated most Pro do Federer, Wawrinka, Nadal, Djokovic, etc. They used older frames and always added many lead tapes. I tested this 2021 310g and also noticed same issue. It needs to add lead tapes. Not perfect neither!! To me it's Not worth to spend money on new frame.

Just Demo’d the 97H; same luscious pocketing as my current VCP 330 1st Gen (blue/orange) - and that pocket seems to be even bigger. Really shined volleying. Strung w my usual Solinco Confidential 17G.
Update: arrived. Added weight to handle - 9 pts headlight now. More powerful than 1st Gen by a considerable amt - really feel it on the 1HBH and 1st serve.

Such a shame there is no stock extended versions of the 97 standard :(. I love playing with extended lenght frames because of the leverage i get while serving and more comfort for my two handed backhand (i have big and wide hands). But most extended lenght frames are too powerful, I tried the dunlop cx200+ but swingweight was kind of high. What do you recommend me?

Xtp buttcaps, or they're called something like that anyway. They extend rackets by 0.5 inches. You basically take off buttcap of racket and replace it with this one. You must get it in the size you need though, obviously, so that it fits the handle size. It does raise the handle a tad in that area though, so good advise I think would be to get a grip size lower in your racket, use a heat shrink wrap sleeve to increase size of handle by 1 and then replace buttcap with xtp one (or whatever its called). Obviously cutting the sleeve to fit with the new buttcap.
Keep in mind that the sleeve may add a fair few grams and the xtp replacement buttcap might as well, so using a lighter version of the racket and weighting up once all done to your specs would probably be best.
Sounds messier than it is, but it's obviously harder than just buying an extended length racket. But this way you don't have to actually make the extension yourself and you can extend any racket you want by 0.5 inches.
How does the «H» compare to the Pure Strike Tour?
Much softer and heavier swing weight, i prefer the H
Like you said, if this new Vcore Pro is considered muted and not that of a direct feeling racket then Yonex should really think about their most "controled" line. Still a lot of room for improvement
Doan, it's a tricky balance for tennis manufacturers. they dampen the racquets to protect from injury, and feel is sacrificed. I have the score 95 and with thin 1.20 poly and no vibration dampener on the strings, I think there's more than enough feel. I really respect Jonas and his channel, but give it a try for yourself. thankfully, where I come from, there are retailers that hire out racquets and deduct the cost of the hire from your purchase price :)
