hey guys. Weezer and NIRVANA are both great bands. I mean it takes a bunch of fucking courage to sing NIRVANA, besides it could always be worse, like Guns 'n Roses covering this shit ya know?
I love Nirvana. I don't like what Weezer has become but their first few albums are classics. Rivers Cuomo used to be a first rate songwriter. They do nice renditions of Nirvana songs, that never meant to be high-profile (small gigs in small clubs using a different band name!). They're doing it for fun, they are not groundbreaking by any means, but they're FUN and very competent (most Nirvana covers are baffling) and they looked for some lesser known tracks. Good!

it's easy to be a critic guys. this is the third "goat punishment" cover I have heard in a row, and ihmho, they're all great; it's easy to sit at home in your underwear infront of a computer critiquing a band because they don't come from the same background as the band they're covering - that's complete BS guys. I was never fortunate enough to see Nirvana live, but I have several live shows, and weather or not you care to hear it, so far these are some of the best covers I've heard...

I own a lot of thier early stuff including the albums you get imported from Canada and the 12 song ep double CD that came out and a 45 ep with a guy from a band called White Flag. They were called Sawed Off. Yes, i am a fan.
well weezer and nirvana were on the same label in 1994. so i wouldnt say weezer were influenced by them, but i would say they are paying respect to nirvana.
@KRS1LEGEND Actually bleach isn't the only album that fell into the grunge category. All the Outseticeide albums, the Unserpassed demos album, and Fecal Matter, the name of the band before it was Nirvana, were all grunge/oldschool punk. Listen to them!
why would a band like that play so many covers? especially of such a particular niche style and such a contemporary band? the only explanation is that they had some special vested interest in that particular body of work.

sounds fuckin great. i'm totally against a nirvana reunion, but if it had to happen, Rivers is the right guy for the job.
