I've already watched the other videos, but I'll watch this one later. I really enjoy your videos. As a teenager with ADHD, it's sometimes hard not to get frustrated. I want to become a software engineer, but I struggle to grasp mathematics. If I find a topic "fun," I'll tackle it easily, but if I don't understand it from the get-go, I end up hating it. Sometimes, I feel like diving into studying and truly comprehending math, but there's something inside me that tells me I won't be able to succeed. It's like I have this desire to know everything, yet at the same time, I feel like I won't achieve it.

as a 23 yr old w hella adhd, some advice I have is try and to *apply* the things you're learning, I know its cringe and cliche to say but, S/O to Pythagoras, Ive used the Pythagorean theroem SOOO many times, and when I joined the workforce at 18, I had to learn basic to intermediate electronics to become ASE A6 certified, I failed twice, but when I was working and was faced with real world problems akin to the testing questions, it all made sense. Don't beat yourself up too. I know it's hard, but you're doing the right thing and you'll be alright.

@@EclipseCeLL Thanks for your comment. I think only those of us who have ADHD know that it is not easy, it is very frustrating. None of my teachers know that I have ADHD, and I think if I tell them they will take it as an excuse, but I would really like them to help me, because in the end I end up being self-taught in most things. Additionally, I firmly believe that I learn better when I can apply what I'm learning in practice, rather than just sticking to theory. For example, when I study function limits, I truly internalize the concept when I can relate it to real-life situations and understand how to apply it in everyday contexts. Unfortunately, I feel that in Uruguay, not enough attention is given to the needs of people with ADHD in the educational setting. Sorry if what I say sounds very cringey but I use a translator haha, I don't know how to explain it well in English

That's so cool you are from Uruguay -- I had a big Uruguay flag in my college dorm room, Diego Forlan was my favorite player haha. As for the ADHD, yes, it can be very frustrating, but now you have the knowledge and awareness, I would try to find ways to make the learning more fun and engaging. Maybe tell your teachers you just need real life examples to learn the topic

I was thinking about telling them that, if they could tell me the real life applications. Apart from all this, I wanted to tell you that I made a miniature for this video, I was a little inspired and had nothing to do with that inspiration so I used it for this hehe. but I don't know how to pass it to you since RUclips deletes the comment with the link very quickly and no matter how much I try in other ways, the comments section deletes it anyway. @@alialqaraghuli

The general content about adhd is like a stranger telling something so far away, they show empathy and show their knowledge there is nothing wrong with this, however when someone like Ali made an accurate video about this stuff, oh man, it's like 10 hours of podcast content in the form of 20 min video.

Overall great content. I would argue a couple points though.
The first issue, is probably more semantics than anything, but the second is more of a fundamental disagreement.
You said that there is nothing inherently wrong with you. - I would disagree with this. Though there are some benefits of ADHD and no one should be ashamed of it, that doesn’t mean that having an under-developed prefrontal cortex isn’t a concerning issue.
It essentially plays the role of the breaks in a car. As someone with ADHD, we basically have a souped up engine on a car with terrible breaks. - I understand you’re probably trying to prevent people from getting down on themselves about it, but if it wasn’t wasn’t a problem, we wouldn’t suggest things that can/do make an impact it.
Besides that, I do agree with you on every suggestion you gave as a way to help. - I would personally suggest looking into/adding meditation as well, but overall yours were on point.
The other concern I’d have would be regarding the description of ADHD as a memory problem, I believe this is a misunderstanding.
ADHD is primarily an attention issue, not a memory one. People might perceive it as a memory problem because if you aren't paying attention when information is presented, you won’t retain it. It’s not that the information is forgotten; it was never fully registered in the first place.
That said, someone who has ADHD can also have a bad memory, but they don’t necessarily have a bad memory because they have ADHD.

    • @alialqaraghuli
      @alialqaraghuli  2 месяца назад +1

Good points -- I see your reasoning in both.
For #1, yes, obviously some things are wrong, but you also have advantages, like the influx of ideas. As a RUclipsr, I never run out of ideas, I have infinite ones. Meanwhile, non-ADHDer youtubers struggle with ideas more than anything else.
For #2, I will have to disagree -- the research shows that the memory itself is also impaired, take this meta-analysis for example journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/1087054713510561

If you cant be arsed to run I've found speed/power walking up a few hills to be just as good as jogging. I'll walk for around twenty minutes up and down a couple of different hills. Walking down hill gives me break in between. Personally for me the benefits last a good couple of hours. The cold shower hack is great but I do think it's misunderstood. Like Ali says it's fine to have a normal warm shower and toward the last few minutes gradually turn it down and it can be just at the point of discomfort, obviously the colder you go the better but no need to stress the body.

Hi Ali, I don't know who to turn to to seek advice because the ones I asked didn't know how to address my issue. I would appreciate 10 minutes from your life and it can save my career maybe and life.
I graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2018. Unfortunately due to many family issues I couldn't pursue my career in EE related fields. I did many small gigs in non technical fields like IT and Marketing to pay my bills and take care of my mom and my sis. One is sick with diabetes and my sister is schezophrenic.
I'm currently working in a small job in marketing just to live through the day.I'm really bouncing from here and there man , I don't have a stable job and the Bachelors I have in EE it's basically not working in EE jobs as I don't have experience. It's been a while I graduated and the works I did is not relevant to the job.
Also I go through a lot of stress due to my family condition and the adverse situation with the relatives. And I believe I have ADHD as well but I never diagnosed. Unfortunately it's seen as taboo here, any type of mental diagnosis is seen with such negativity is so difficult.
Do you have any suggestions for me how can I get to EE track. What can I do to add something as a resume. Or what can I improve that may help me land a job.
I really needed to ask an Engineer and seek their advice as only they can get me.
I would appreciate any suggestions. I know you must be a busy person but I will be so grateful if you give me any suggestions.
Thanks in Advance 🙏 You are doing a great job Ali. Allah bless you.

      Hello!
If you want to get into electrical engineering, first step is to identify few programs you want to get into. Perhaps universities nearby. They don't have to be the best universities, but something you can get into. You can contact their admissions office and ask what the requirements are to get in, and what kind of help they can provide. You can watch videos on my other channel "Ali the dazzling" for all the skills you need, resume, linkedin, classes etc you will need later.
As for the ADHD you can watch the videos here. Unfortunately the only answer is to just keep pushing and go one step at a time, and most importantly to have faith that as long as you make little progress everyday all will be well. Best of luck!

Hi Ali, I really appreciate your reply, actually I'm an Electrical Engineer. As I wrote I graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2018 but I drifted apart from the field due to my mentioned reasons and lack of industry experience. I'm seeking your suggestions regarding this. If you got a minute please reply me. It would mean a lot.
