    Don’t put your handbrake on when parked up with hot brakes. Go for stints of laps with breaks in between. Good for the car and good for you.

    Have hade the opportunity to go for 6 full days on track this year, and went through a set of tyres on my Taycan 4S. Actually finished off a 40% remaining set of PS4’s at the first day on track as I knew I had a new set waiting at the shop, ready to be put on. Maybe 60% left after another 5 days at the track. Problem is outer front right tyre always taking the beating (CCW track). Will swap left to right before next day on track but that won’t be until next year as snow is expected to come soon here at ACR. Next year I’ll be back in my modified 964. Can’t wait to let it rip through the gears listening to the thunderous cup exhaust again🤩

      Absolutely Julian. I try to do a few "pressing on" laps and then a few slower one, concentrating on lines and the cones that the course put out. I sometimes also take travel sickness pills - made myself ill recently...

    If you are tracking a 996/986/997/987 you need to add a deepsump (1/2" is fine) and a baffle (like an X51 from Porsche or aftermarket), you should also consider replacing the crank pulley with an undersized one, this will save your power steering pump. This will help your engine survive oil starvation.

    All good advices. Maybe there is something more specific for the 911. I was on a track day with my 996.2 GT3 Clubsport and had a bit of a problem with breaking into corners and going on the throttle again (understeer). I have a feeling that it has to be driven differently to a front engined car.

    Great video. I’ve yet to do my first track day. Have you done autocross? Would you do one first before the other vs. track day? What all is usually covered in a safety check of your car before they let you out on the track?

      Autocross, great idea, never done it but both have their merits. Regards safety check of your car, it is down to you to determine your car is safe: if it's roadworthy, it's usually a good start!

    Thanks for the video, and tips - all of which are useful. One question, track insurance. I would be gutted to have someone spear my car (even though i was keeping out of the way), and i could not afford to replace it. Do you take out track insurance on yours. or are you 'risking it'?! Any recommendations on providers. I got a Porsche last year and would love to give it a go on track.

    • @9WERKSTV
      @9WERKSTV  2 года назад

      Thanks for taking the time to comment. I do not recommend risking it with insurance. Classic Line actually offers complementary track day insurance (subject to a 10% excess) for certain track days, which is partly why I chose to work with them on my new 9WERKS platform - the policy allows you to indulge in your Porsche hobby rather than restrict it. Best of luck with it, I hope you can get out on track soon!

    Especially on a non gt porsche, dont go hard on suspensionsettings like camber and combine it with agressive semislicks. An engine without drysump you will face engine lubrication issues on track. Can easly destroy your engine😶‍🌫️ be gentle with your car, especially if its not a rental 😚

      Hi Simon, I've said elsewhere that Classic Line actually offers complementary track day insurance (subject to a 10% excess) for certain track days, which is partly why I chose to work with them on my new 9WERKS platform - the policy allows you to indulge in your Porsche hobby rather than restrict it.
      In terms of wear & tear, you can do a good few track days on the same brakes (subject to how hard you're pushing!), and again with tyres, you'll get a few track days out of them, less so if you're really going for it! Fluid use should be minimal.
