Great. I don't think the Americans really got his act at first. In the 70s over here in Britain, he was and still is, a comedy legend.

He was the first British TV host to bring ABBA on a show straight from winning the Eurovision contest

It is because during the 60 and 70 Americans were racist of the British and some German s and Chinese and Japanese people, and they only laughed because it was funny.

Tommy Cooper was a LEGEND. My good friend who was born in the UK and who has written and directed many sitcoms here in Finland and which we really love. He knows exactly our taste and his Finnish is better than most Finns’. He once told me that Tommy Cooper was the funniest man in the Britain.
I own old Chinese Rings from the early 60’s and the seller told me that he had those with him in a café when Tommy came there and he suddenly took the rings and used them in a very funny routine just like expected by him.

it was agreed by tommy, gwen and his manager that he should pull out all the stops for this performance - it could have broken the states for him in one go: IF the americans could get the joke. sadly, not enough of them could.
their loss... he really looks at the height of his powers here! the balance of humour and magic (done right or wrong) is about equal. a very welcome upload for all his fans. thanks.

He couldn't get any traction with them at first, but they were warming up at the end. I think he overdid it, to be honest, but maybe with another couple of slots it could have come to something.

I liked him as a kid but obviously hardly any entertainment back then. A couple of channels.
This is absolute cringe though and as funny as watching paint dry

I'm sure if he'd have stuck at it a while longer over there, and give them a chance at trying to understand his humour and his genius, the yanks would have loved him like we do. You was the tops TC, and to this day, you make us laugh with you're comedy act.
