It is because during the 60 and 70 Americans were racist of the British and some German s and Chinese and Japanese people, and they only laughed because it was funny.
Tommy Cooper was a LEGEND. My good friend who was born in the UK and who has written and directed many sitcoms here in Finland and which we really love. He knows exactly our taste and his Finnish is better than most Finns’. He once told me that Tommy Cooper was the funniest man in the Britain. I own old Chinese Rings from the early 60’s and the seller told me that he had those with him in a café when Tommy came there and he suddenly took the rings and used them in a very funny routine just like expected by him.
it was agreed by tommy, gwen and his manager that he should pull out all the stops for this performance - it could have broken the states for him in one go: IF the americans could get the joke. sadly, not enough of them could. their loss... he really looks at the height of his powers here! the balance of humour and magic (done right or wrong) is about equal. a very welcome upload for all his fans. thanks.
He couldn't get any traction with them at first, but they were warming up at the end. I think he overdid it, to be honest, but maybe with another couple of slots it could have come to something.
I liked him as a kid but obviously hardly any entertainment back then. A couple of channels. This is absolute cringe though and as funny as watching paint dry
I'm sure if he'd have stuck at it a while longer over there, and give them a chance at trying to understand his humour and his genius, the yanks would have loved him like we do. You was the tops TC, and to this day, you make us laugh with you're comedy act.
Didn’t get the right states and air time for him to make it over there. The man was a comedy genius, who guaranteed laughs back then and still today👌👏🥇👍🤣😂
I wish we were exposed to Tommy Cooper more often here in the States! I think he would have been more popular!! His manager kept him in the UK mostly to keep an eye on him!! I love Tommy Cooper ❤❤❤❤ He brightens up my day❤❤❤❤❤ RIP TOMMY. Emily from Missouri ❤❤❤❤
viewing that sad ocurrence on live TV was sheer porno....TC was a big man but in one second Death groped him and he was nothing more that a little heap of bones, nothing left of his big frame, nothing..
And nor does Brit have the humor to make comedians like bill burr, louis CK, Dave Chappell, ect… tho norm is better than them all 🇨🇦 funny people all over
Great. I don't think the Americans really got his act at first. In the 70s over here in Britain, he was and still is, a comedy legend.
He was the first British TV host to bring ABBA on a show straight from winning the Eurovision contest
It is because during the 60 and 70 Americans were racist of the British and some German s and Chinese and Japanese people, and they only laughed because it was funny.
JUST LIKE THAT!
@@thomasbenau2810 That's the most stupid comment I've ever heard!!! Stop being a troll!!!!!!
@Michael Re Well put!

One of the most universally loved British comics ever
Tommy Cooper ..wow he was amazing

What a fantastic magician Tommy was his sad and tragic death 😢 left a huge void in all of our lives god bless you Tommy 🙏
Absolute Legend. Fricking incredible and my Hero.
To make it look that easy is the genius

Tommy Cooper at his very best, why I used to laugh at him so much on tv in the 50's & 60's.
This man was amazing. Wat a talent
In the great pantheon of English comedians, Tommy Cooper sits with those at the very summit. One of the greatest of the greatest of the great.
Funny just standing there.😂😂😂😂
I'm American and I get it love it
NHKのエドサリバンショーで見て以来ずっと記憶に残っていました。
時々RUclipsで検索してたのですが、やっと見つけました。
watch、watch、watchの和訳が、見て、見て、時計なのがとにかく秀逸!
He died right on stage in 1984 during the live performance in London. Very sad...And it was live on television
And the people in the audience laughing must of felt awful when they found out 😞😞😭😭
It was a killer act.

Brilliant
AAARRHHH The punchline of the trick is covered by videos to watch next! Why??!
Damm .. he worked that schtick along time.
Saw the video of his death on stage, everyone thought it was part of the act, but you could hear the death rattle
viewing that sad ocurrence on live TV was sheer porno....TC was a big man but in one second Death groped him and he was nothing more that a little heap of bones, nothing left of his big frame, nothing..
Americans haven’t the same sense of humour as the English.Holsey67 🇬🇧

I love comedy.
Here because of Matt Edwards, I can understand what they were talking about now
The video recommendations ruin the joke at the end! Good one youtube.

"As the way of a change, I'd like to do my first trick first" what?
It was said that he had “funny bones”
Can't touch this
Blue tie white spots yeah from his right pocket
