I just recently purchase a 2013 500 Turbo. I have to say your videos are great. I have learnt so much in the past 2 weeks. Your attention to detail is exactly what the weekend mechanic needs. Well done. You have renew my confidence on turning a wrench, Cheers from Ontario, Canada.
Hey Brian, thank you for this video! You saved my $350+ which is what the shops around here wanted to charge me to install lowering springs on my 13 Fiat 500 Pop. I paid $18 to use the bay for 3 hours at the base auto hobby shop. they had everything even the spring compression tool.
Man that’s awesome and this is one of the reasons why we do this! Save you money on labor so you can have more for parts! Glad this helped you and you were able to get it done!
This video is awesome, I just did the front struts last weekend and did the rear shocks this weekend, kept the stock springs on both since I don’t want it any lower. I used the original springs and figured I wouldn’t need the camber bolts, did buy them just incase and if needed I can always just install them later. Next weekend on to the coolant hoses to replace since mine are leaking now.
Thank you so much for the Video. I Purchased my Koni shocks and struts and was getting around to installing them myself and having this video is going to make things go really smooth.
👍👌 you the master man,you the best teacher, teaching all of us who owned a fiat abarth thank you for all the time you have to do this videos on RUclips thanks man , and appreciate all the details
Love your videos, thanks for taking the time. I imagine you are putting some effort into making the videos super helpful without being a sales pitch, and I appreciate that. However, I’d love to hear more about the pros and cons of the products you are installing. Thanks!
Thank you. We do offer some pros and cons at times but for the most part our goal is to offer a guide on installing so more people will feel comfortable tackling the job themselves. The more people that can mod their car, the more everyone benefits
I bought this same set up for my fiat… I have a high torque Milwaukee impact wrench…how do I know when any of the bolts are tight enough? Should I set my impact wrench on the lowest setting? I did buy this set up from your company Brian… any advice? I would hate to brake a bolt
I want to snag some DNA adjustable top mounts before I do my install , already got the camber bolts but I want more negative. I’m on 0 offset 15x8s with spacers
Great video. One question. Why jack the lower arm with the bottle jack to undo the top mount/plate nut? Why not undo it first before jacking the car up?
@@arkeye01 I agree. With the weight of the vehicle or with pressure from a floor Jack, you can use an impact to get the nuts off the top of the strut. Much faster
HELP. I am installing coilovers on my abarth. The rear went perfect. The front - I cannot remove the 2 lower strut mounting bolts. The nut came off, but the bolt itself is stuck. I have hammered and used my impact as much as I could with the limited space. Any suggestions??
Spray some PB Blaster into the holes where the bolts are. Make sure you relieve pressure from the floor jack and then try again. Then, using your impact spinning the bolt, hammer at the same time and it should break loose.
@@NGENCustomsandPerformanceI recently did this install using your video as a guide. I'm pretty sure I got everything right but I've found the front shocks to be very hard to adjust and I seem to have stripped the keys that came with the shocks. Do you have any suggestions for how to adjust the shocks without the keys? Or how to get another set? I've contacted Koni about this and have yet to hear back from them...
@@NGENCustomsandPerformance Thanks! Just did the rear springs only (with energy bump stops and top isolators), will do the fronts in the morning. The rear springs only lowered the car 1" checking before and after ride height. Wondering if they'll come down a bit further after changing out the front springs.
This set up vs coilovers? I have seen some coilovers from famous brands like Bilstein for under $1k... What will be better? Are those under $1k coilovers not good. These Koni's are pretty expensive plus the lowering springs is above 1k
It all boils down to what you are wanting for the car. The konis and neu-fs will give you the best all around for street and track. However, if you are more track focused, coilovers would be the better option. If you go for coilovers, we have found BC Racing and Vogtlands to be great choices for around the $1k mark.
Ive been running the Megan Racing coilovers for a few years now and they are not comfortable at all. The rear feels way too stiff especially on these bad roads here in Tx. They were like $750, and now I'm switching to the neu-f koni combo because i can't take it anymore lol
I'd prefer the shock to be laid on the floor when taking the top nut off to remove the top hat. Stops that 0.1% chance of it flying into your chin. Also you should not tighten rear shock into place until weight of car is on the suspension. The way you did it will put stress on the rubber bushes and they will fail prematurely.
I respect your preference on removing the top nut of a strut but particularly on this application, using the spring clamps removes the pressure so the nut is removed with ease. As for the rear shocks, no issue or concern of the rubber bushings by tightening before the car is sat down so I have to disagree with your statement . We have never had an issue of premature failure of the bushings on the rear shock on these cars. Thank you for watching the video!
@@NGENCustomsandPerformance No trouble buddy. I was not trying to be a smart arse - hope it was not taken that way. I love the set up you have there - the scorpion mat is awesome! Thanks for taking time to upload. The twist in the bush is because it's at rest/unstressed at standard height. Once lowered it new position is forced somewhat/twisted. I guess some cars suffer more or less depending on suspension design/travel. Good luck with everything form the UK
Bryan you have a email i can send you my cell phone # ..im thinking we can do something for a video..include you on a upcoming video maybe by facetime or something? Let me know my man!
the first channel I come to when I need to install something myself! Such quality

Another great video. I have driven with this setup for years and it works well for both a daily driver and the occasion trip to the track
Wow! You make this look so easy!! Awesome, comprehensive video!!

Wow. Very detailed video on how to do it. Thank you very much for your work to make this video. Best regards..
Another great video Bryan
About to do this exact thing. Thank god for you sir .
When you adjust the firmness, is it adjusting both compression and rebound, or just rebound?

Those are awesome but expensive (but worth it). Definitely the way to go. Thanks for watching!
Yep $ but I bet they will stop making them for US models soon and they will be impossible to find . So 550$ is kind of worth it in the end
Thanks for your vids . Make stuff easy
Masterful. Thank you!
Amazing video explains completely!!! Congratulations 🎊
Thanks!
Thanks for the videos, super helpful! Any chance of getting a clutch install video? Nobody seems to have a decent one out there
We do not have any plans to do a clutch video at this time.
Great video. One question. Why jack the lower arm with the bottle jack to undo the top mount/plate nut? Why not undo it first before jacking the car up?
You can do it that way as well
Thank you for answering so soon, love the content
Just to go back to this. Today I used an impact gun on the top mount nut and worked perfectly. No need to hold the inner thread with an Allen key 👍🏻

Do the new bump stops come with the springs or the shocks? Or did you purchase them separately?
The NEUSPEED springs include new front bump stops.
