It is one of the most delicious videos I have seen on fountain pen. Not only because of the reverence it conveys over the Montblanc Egyptimania, but because it induces a love of fountain pens and handwriting. Congratulations.

I love your flair for the artistry of your collection, Hemingway! I agree, it seems like your MB Egyptomania and the inkwell belonged together and were providentially ordered to be together in your collection! Plus it is a piston filler?! Even more fitting for that beautiful inkwell! Well done review, sir!

@@HemingwayJones Finally received the pen today. Such a beautifully restrained and refined design. Love it! Only had time for a quick ink dip writing sample, but really liked how the XF nib writes and nib has a bit of give to it, which I always like. While I'm OK with the size of pen overall, I think it could have been a tad bit girthier, so that it would have had a bit wider section grip and a bit larger nib. But again, really pleased with this elegantly designed pen. Big thumbs up!

The Egyptomania black resin medium nib that is a pen that is on my wish list.
Egypt is a fascinating land of antiquity, where you can still visit the monuments from bygone biblical times.
Been there several times from above to even the Nile Delta below.
I used to go to Egypt twice a year.
To go deep sea diving in the beautiful Red Sea, with its multifaceted different coral reefs.
And sometimes I was on the boat for more than two weeks, diving three times a day, including night dives.
What Egypt offers above ground is majestic, but underwater the Red Sea is one of the few places where you can find such a diversity of fish in great numbers, so much underwater beauty, a must for all deep sea divers.
As for the famous inkwell you bought ... Ha ha ha ah ... from the moment I saw it on your youtube channel, I immediately started looking for it, and indeed it came from an online shop in Scotland ... and I emailed as fast as I could type a request if she still had any :):):), but the lady brought me the bad news, even have the email that it was a unique piece she had and that she sent it to a customer
    :) :) :)
Anyway, when I come to Egypt again I will definitely look for it so that I also have a matching inkpot that is assorted with my future Egyptomania black resin :)
Thank you in advance for bringing this fountain pen to the attention, I have enjoyed it to the fullest, and I can continue to dream that I will also buy it later.

And for it's medium nib is it very smooth like your egyptomania or i would rather order broad nib or BB as I like the thick lines!!!

I’ve had mine for just over a week with a F nib. I can attest that for the serious pen collector who wants a lifetime pen this would be one of them. The pen literally feels like nib glides on top of the ink being put down.
The only downside is that the pen could be just little longer. It’s just long enough not to be too short.

I've been looking at this pen for awhile and I'm hoping to find someone who would be able to compare the line thickness of the Egyptomania F nib to either a Pelikan EF or Visconti F. I write small and I've heard that MB nibs run thicker than most European fountain pens.

@@invaderzim1964 I have a Pelican M1000 in EF. I just bought the new nib and replaced my F. The Pelican EF is finer then the Montblanc in F.
I have a Visconti in M which is way too wide and never use the pen. I would say the MB F is a “Fine-medium”. I too write small and it is just on the edge of being a little to wide of a line, but still OK.

I am one who never posts my pens (with the exception of pocket pens which require posting to be used comfortably). In my personal pen collection, posting inevitably makes a pen back weighted and uncomfortable for long writing sessions (which is my primary purpose); even for a quick note, I dislike the unbalanced feeling of a posted pen. Then of course there are pens with fine finishes that could be damaged by posting. I realize that it may be the particular pens of my collection and that other pens are perfectly balanced when posted…unfortunately I don’t seem to own any non-pocket pen that benefits from being posted; at least not based on how they feel in my hand size.

You mention uniqueness. I also wonder if the idea of Egypt itself has a subliminal appeal. I do not know if it is gender specific, but, as a male at least, I was more fascinated with Greek and Egyptian civilization in early school days than anything. As a retiree, I am stretched to get to the $400 to $500 range for some premium fountain pens (Sailor King of Pen, Pilot 845 Custom Urushi, Pelikan M1000, along with gifts from alumni of a Montblanc 149, a Montblanc Writer’s Edition. I also purchased a used Visconti Homo Sapiens. However, I cannot be tempted for anything now that is not selling used (or new) for less than $500 (once a year). If the Egyptomania was ever available used in that range, I would be tempted because of the nostalgia, the dreams of ancient Egypt and history that converted me from a kid raised in house without books, parents who had only gone to the 8th grade in 1-room country schools to someone who fell in love with learning.
