I have one of these with a fine nib and it’s one of my best writers. The nib is soft with just a hint of feedback. Nothing architect-y about my one though. Thanks for the review!
This is one of their few thematic releases that actually seems reasonable, but perhaps that's just because this design borrows heavily from their 1920s work.
I actually prefer Montblanc's understated finish pens, & whilst I agree that the pen itself does not really speak of Egypt, itself, I think the octagonal shape (which is fantastic) obviously references that 1920's Art Deco period. This is a delightful scribe, Stephen - thank you for your consideration. Stay safe & keep well, both :)
Thanks, Dr. Brown, fine job. You know who was really into Egypt? Elvis. Music was something he tripped and fell into on his way to Cairo to pick up a new car.
Yeah standard Montblanc nibs are interesting! All EF's have this architect-y characteristic, but it is only limited to EF. F and M nibs are completely round, while B and above are stubby as you already know. I will say this however: all contemporary Montblanc EF's have the same level of architectiness thanks to their awesome nib consistency, but that level varies depending on the era of the nib. It is more pronounced on some years than others, but some people compare different 149's from every decade to evaluate which EF nibs have it more etc. This is a thing characteristic of Montblanc EF nibs and I see how it can be fun for some people! :)
I find very few of these montblanc, montegrappa etc. special edition pens to be in 'good taste', this is one of those pens. In my own opinion obviously.
What is precious resin? I keep seeing this reference whenever a Montblanc plastic body is reviewed. I always guess that there's some marketing strategy behind Montblancs claim of anything.
Its a plastic. The problem is the translation of the equivalent term from German, I guess it does not translate nicely. Montblanc use it in their literature, and don't tout it as anything special. I guess people just focus on this term for various reasons.
The entire time I was watching this vid I was waiting for a trap door or something special in that pen. Nothing. Not a thing. it's offensively plain and a lazily designed tribute to Egypt. Egyptian design was all about flash and clout, this is none of that. It is also priced beyond reason for something of this caliber. One of their cheapest models "The Starwalker" has more craftsmanship into it for half the price. I would value this pen around $200 add an additional $50 for the brand. In conclusion: I have buyers regret just watching this. Better alternatives: Montegrappa Privilege Deco, Montegrappa Reminiscence, Montegrappa NeroUno. For the the ultimate Egyptian Pen it hands down goes to ST Dupont "Pharaoh" Good review though.
the only thing i didnt like about the pen is that it says ef on the body ,i would have prefered it to be full black or has hieroglyphics and the ef on the nib
You should get a more accurate microphone setup. Maybe something like a cardioid ribbon mic with a preamp or something that gives you very precise control of the different frequencies.

So happy that MB released a somewhat understated pen in this line. Thanks for the lovely review Stephen.

You have to see and hold this pen in person to really appreciate its beauty and how well it writes.
Very tempting indeed. I like this pen a lot. Thanks for the review.

Thanks as ever for your thoughtful review. A very attractive and sophisticated pen.
That nib is a thing of beauty. Thanks Stephen
Nice looking MB no doubt. And definitely looks on the wet side for an EF. Great video!
I've seen a number of Montblanc extra fine nibs that look like architect grinds out of the box - my own 149 was like this.
Completely agree
Yeah, I have a 146 EF and 149 EF that were architects. They wouldn’t actually put ink on paper, so Bacas un-architected them and now they write.
Really nice pen, and nice review. Thank you for sharing of opinions. Greetings from Brazil.
your hand writing is sick .. I love it alot ... damn
Thanks for the review, Stephen.

Hello! Thanks for the video! How would you compare the egyptomania to the homo sapiens visconti?
Please review mont blanc le petite prince burgundy red fountain pen
Thank you for your greeting in Arabic. Peace be with you as well.
You did not cover what you disliked about the pen

@@IAT1964Yep....good ol' "Precious" Plastic. Lol.
Que belleza de pluma.
The step down at the section looks bad, otherwise a pretty pen. Really like the engraved logo in metal on top of the cap and the facets
I bought a 146 in EF and it is unpleasantly toothy. I find it strange because the MB F is not a F. It’s not like a Pelikan or Lamy EF fine.
Thank you sir.
I also really like the looks of this pen and that nib is beautiful, I love my extra fine nibs. Thanks for the review.
Nice one.
Surprising-A MontBlanc I’d actually consider owning!
Architect grind? In a ef nib? I don’t know…
I was craving to see the nib in close up, and it did not come
See my website
@@sbrebrown got it! Thanks

Excellent comment. Wholeheartedly agree.

That's a sticker
Boy, another swing and miss from Montblanc
Iwy em hotep! It's a very handsome pen, and completely worth $220.

As-salamu alaykum has nothing to do with ancient Egypt and hieroglyphs in this pen collection
Nor does Montblanc, and yet, here we are.
It reminds me of the YStudio Brass pen.
I always amazed of people with awful calligraphy owning or reviewing special writing instruments.
What a disgrace.
Your audio level is very low - you may want to look into it
It’s fine on mine…
For a pen with that name I'd want hieroglyphics, an ankh, and an engraving of Bastet at the very least.
I think there is an over-ornate version available.
And a pen stand in shape of a pyramid. Agreed.
But first things first: no metal section.
So you give the hand sign at beginning of every video. Proud of belonging?
This is too fine for me. I am more in the medium point.
