This video is a national treasure. It needs to be preserved for future generations. It shows the chrysalis of greatness, the youth of virtuosity, a look back into the history of a great American guitarist.

Not many people can do Cockburn with the same kind of boyish charm and peacefulness that Bruce had when he was young.
    Michael nails this!
    Ahhh, life is good.

well to be honest the best lyricist/guitar combo is Bruce himself on both. Bruce is one of the best/most underrated guitarists ever. This is a note for note copy of Bruce's playing but still not as good.

Really nice to know I have something in common with Michael Hedges. When I play, people ignore me. This makes me wonder how many times I have walked on by someone who would change their chosen field forever. The guitar will never be the same after Michael Hedges.

Hi Randy. I love these Hedges videos! I was there sitting in the crowd at a couple of these and in fact once I taped the whole evening. It's long since lost during my divorce unfortunately. I was a friend of Keith Adams and knew your mother and you. A few times we met. I'm the photographer friend that was always hanging around. And thanks for being a big part of getting Van Morrison to play the New Varsity inside. I also enjoyed photographing that night. Here is a funny story. All day long I've felt as if I knew your name from somewhere imbedded deep in my subconscious or something???
I graduated high school in 1985 and I must've committed every note from that Windham Hill live and Red Rocks VHS to memory. Sure enough, William Ackerman mentions you as being the one who beckoned him to hear Michael Hedges for the first time at your theater! Crazy! I knew your name rang a bell!
What an honor to make your acquaintance. It sounds like you really were a part of it all. What I would have done to have been there. I hope we can stay in touch.

Joe Roth I was a lucky guy, at the windham hill epicenter in palo alto. Will went to my alma mater, gunn high school, where i was classmates with his cousin de grassi. will exaggerates a little as i recall at red rocks. we were showing david hamilton's "billitis." The lines were long so he asked if i wouldn't comp him. I said sure, but first, please go check out the guitar player upstairs. he did and came down a half an hour later with a contract on a cocktail napkin. michael and i became good buddies. he collaborated on all of his videos here. nice to meet you! you might have to remind pierre who i am. i put micheal and pierre together for a show at the varsity, as you can see here.

I moved on in many ways on what I do but not a day goes by that I don't still think about him. He had that wild eyed sense in his eye of having 'it' figured out in some way that many of us seek. Wow....this made my day. I was fortunate to see Michael probably a dozen times and meet him a few as well. I really miss his music and wonder what he'd be doing now. Seeing this for the first time and am going to be forwarding it to MANY friends. Thanks so much for posting....

Always been a Cockburn fan and so I looked up this song on RUclips and found this among the results. What a great surprise to find this gem of a performance by Michael, thanks so much for sharing this.

I'm hoping Bruce has seen it, as it is truly a gem.
