Packing light is the way to go. I did a three week combination business & pleasure trip to India with a carry-on bag. It certainly is liberating to not have to worry about a checked bag making it to your final destination. And I long stopped buying souvenirs. I spend my money on local guides, local food and local accommodations rather than stuff to take home. If something really catches my eye, I shipped it.

If you pack each shoe in its own bag at least one pair can go between the bars under the packing cubes on the compression board side of the carry on. The others can stand on their edges around the edge of the suitcase. Then all of that shoe space is free for something else, if needed.

Great tips! Nice calm voice so easy listening too :) A few years ago we traveled with Ryan Air from one European country to another; they did weigh my carry on bag. They allowed one bag so my purse had to go in it - beware. Vegan bag nice BUT dark interior should be changed to a light fabric to see items more easily. I like that you separate clothes by category rather than, say, an "outfit" for a day. The weather plus your mood have a lot to do with what you'll be wearing and so with mix and match you'll be able to each choose clothes for a day. When you pack light, you wear the same items more than one time! I wouldn't need 3 pair of pjs, but that's a personal choice.

I have the Away carry on and I absolutely love it! I typically use the laundry bag to pack anything that's still clean at the end of my trip since that will be a lot smaller than what is dirty. One of my favorite aspects is that it weighs so little that it doesn't add to the overall weight of your suitcase. My old suitcase was much heavier and I could hardly lift it once it was packed. These are some great tips!

    Great video-thanks!
I’m also a big believer in pouches. A bonus is that if your bag does get opened, loose items don’t fall out. And if something looks weird on the scanner, they can take out the ONE container and leave everything else alone. Way easier to repack at speed afterwards, too!
Just a tip: If you travel to or within India, they may weigh your carryon, depending on the airline. Also, nail clippers and ANY scissors-even the tiny useless ones in a teeny first aid kit-are completely forbidden. They WILL confiscate them! I am the only person whose nail clippers were not taken away, out of a group of fifteen. Somehow they missed mine, both times!

On my trips I found out that I had taken items that I did not use, so I started making an ideal packing list everytime I returned home. Now I have lists for 7 day trips, 10 day trips, cruises etc. So nothing is left behind and I am not hauling extra things. I try to never check a bag on a plane, lose a suitcase one time and you will be cured of that.

I have been living abroad for a while now so I travel a lot to visit my fanily back home ☺️ The more I travel, the less luggage I pack 😂 Packing cubes truly are a game changer! I love using them! 🤩 When I go from place to place I would devide my outfits in one cube per destination. So when I am there, I only need to take out my toiletries and one cube, leaving the rest in my suitcase ☺️ I will definately start using your tip about having small pouches for for example tech and such 🤔 Those usually somehow end up in the bottom all mixed up 😅

Thanks for sharing, and safe travels, Robin! I love the airport scenes you included in your video - the Canadian flag was very prominent - yah! I'm from Canada. I also love how efficiently you packed your belongings with such thought and care. I'm a huge proponent of traveling light and with carry-on. My husband and I went to Europe for almost 3 weeks with only carry-on. We went to England, France and Spain and did not want to be bogged down with needless luggage. Like you, I know how to put outfits together using some bottoms and different tops, creating interchangeable outfits. I pray you and your son have a safe journey and that you are protected in angelic light throughout your journey. Many blessings. 🌟🌻🦋🌈🙏✌️🌼

The biggest advantage is that you can also see what's in each bag and they come in three sizes for convenience. For me, once something is out of sight I have trouble remembering where it is. Also, that way you don't endure grubby blue gloves pawing through your clothing. You can sanitize the bag's exterior if anyone does.

I’ve flown with my kids (when they were little but old enough to pull their own rolling carry on bags), and one trip we did two weeks in Hawaii (met my husband, aka their dad, there) with only carry on bags. Some folks on our flight found it funny, but it was easy. They were experienced flyers since infancy though. Packing cubes are awesome. We go from the East Coast to Hawaii every 2 years (used to live there), so know we don’t need too much!

Thank you. I like to carry at least one coat hanger with clips or a few clothes pins; just in case I want to wash or Febreze anything. One of my airline pet peeves is inconsiderate passengers steal the space below the seat and above before I get on the plane. Whenever someone steals my seat storage space, I've started reporting it as an unaccompanied bag. It's because, when they steal my space I end up having to check "everything". This means no purse for me to have my wallet in my possession. Yes. It became necessary. I hate having to do this because I usually give in on things but this onw; I've decided is a no negotiation situation for me.

These can all be put into separate clear ziplock reusable sandwich style 😉😉😉bags so I can easily find what I need. All wet items go in together in case of spillage. Second cube is for underwear/socks. Third cube is for t-shirts/cami tops. Then I take 2 spare garbage bags to put shoes in, and the other for my laundry so I can just take it out of the bag when I get home and put in straight into the washing machine.

I like that the outside pocket have a zipper not just an open space easy to pick pocket. I also add in my personal item bag when I travel in airplane a pair of compression socks, Emergen-C, blue plastic shoes cover as I remove my shoes on the plane for comfort and do not want my feet touching the durt on the floor. I also bring a tote plastig bag that I put my personnal bag inside and put under the front seat so if a liquid spills on it, it does not ruin the bag or what is it inside as it already happened to me once. Voilà!

Hi Robin...I never thanked you for mentioning the little vacuum you use on your videos. I went to Amazon and looked at them and thought they were wonderful but they only had them through second sellers at that time. But when I ordered one, it was fulfilled by Amazon as a returned item that would have a scratch on it. When the package arrived my son was here and looked it over and there wasn't a scratch to be found. He said that Amazon gets returned items and they will sell them at a discount as scratched or whatever the person wrote as the reason for the return. Do you pack a plug that are used in Europe. Also I watched a flight attendant video and she says instead of using a putting your that pinkish bag on the top of your case that's giving you more weight on your hands she said to get one of those j hooks hook it on to the soup you can clasp or velcro it to the smaller handle of your carry on and then the j-hook it keeps it in place right centered in the middle and if you're worried about somebody snagging it or anything you can always use an extra hook to go on it but the j hook holds it in the middle so just a little heads up if you would like because it will give you the balance out so that it's not putting extra any strain on your wrist, hand, shoulder or any other parts of your body.

Good video. My suggestion, pack a travel size flashlight. It is a must. Should you encounter an electric emergency on the flight or your hotel, a hand size flashlight can save your life. Been there, done that. Know it well.

Hi Robin I have the same case as you I remember you talking about it during your last packing video just before COVID-19 hit .... I’m having a staycation in the autumn 🍂 if the cases are low enough for me to go for a break with my brother.....

Thanks for the video! I just purchased the Calpak duffle you used here, and I like it a lot but it seems a bit big for a personal item. Have you ever had trouble fitting it under the seat in front of you or been told you can’t bring it?

Did someone really call you out I'm not packing toothpaste or mascara?? You had also mentioned people had commented that you were cleaning and already clean house. I hope you can ignore the nitpicking and focus on all the good comments! Your videos are awesome helpful and I enjoy them thoroughly!

Thank you Anne! I brought toothpaste and mascara, but didn’t include them in the liquids bag. 😱😂 Almost all of my comments are amazing and so appreciated. I don’t let the occasional negativity get me down. They are a good source of entertainment though! 😂🤣

Hi Robin - Oh friend, I’ll be definitely praying for you and Kyle to be protected on your trip. It will be fun to get out of the house at least. I’m sure you put a lot prayer into your decision to travel and know that many of us will be praying. I did quite a bit of business travel in my work career. I wished they would have had the travel cubes back then. A lot of the trips I made were on my company’s corporate jet to their corporate offices. That was easier travel since the jet would land and pull right into the hanger where a company car was waiting so I never had to deal with airports or get in bad weather. Our corporate office was up north where is often snowed. But sometime I would have to travel to other locations and go thru large airports like in New York. Traveling light was a necessity on those trips especially. Take care and be safe. Love in Christ.

Thank you Donna! I appreciate your prayers very much! It sounds like you had an exciting career and that you have a lot of travel experience. I bet you have some good packing tips too! I hope you are continuing to feel better and that you have a wonderful week ahead! 😊💕

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) started weighing carry on suitcases in 2018. Heading to London from Oslo, every carry on case was weighed as we were boarding.

Great video but half of what you are packing are items I never use or are always available in the hotel or vacation rental. The shoulder bag carry on is something I have had to eliminate as it is just too heavy on my should to carry. Not finding this practical as I get older and how I travel has had to adapt to new physical limitations. Also, putting my carry on in the overhead is almost impossible for me to do on my own as I am not quite 5 foot yet. I have never had a problem asking for or accepting help. I have had to purchase a carry-on with wheels to make navigating to and from the plane easier. It would be nice to see a video that helps seniors with helpful information. We still love to travel.

My favorite color is pink and I really love the color of your bag! But for travel, isn't it too easy to get stained? My bento bag is color black from Nomad Lane, and I have used it several times but still looks new.
