    Finally, thanks to your terrific video, eureka! I now understand, finally understand basic brushed & brushless motor operational theory! Voila! Shazam! What's so significant & appreciated about the knowledge you impart on the subject, is that already, I am using my newfound awareness of how they operate internally to good effect, solving formerly vexing DC motor issues on a variety of scooters with twitchy, acting up symptoms intermittently. A real pain to eliminate. I now get quirky things resolved when troubleshooting much more efficiently, because my honing in process has been radially improved. Thank you, it's a blessing for me & those who have to live with me as well.

      What motor are you running, gearing and vehicle it's on? I never have any cogging issues on my hobbywings.. I use the ez run motors and max esc's. Like max 10, 8, 6 & 5. I've never had any issues with them. Put them on the appropriate size rig with proper kv to the rig I'm running and proper gearing for what I'm trying to do. And buddy I bash the hell out of some of them!! Through mud water , launching them through construction sites 50-100 ft. Gaps ,skate parks you name it I bash or race it. Temps stay good and most importantly ZERO cogging!! . Unlike every castle setup I ever used! Motor temps go way up on castle and cog to shit. Even after programming them.
      P.s. sidewinder systems are garbage so don't waste your time! Unless you are putting one on a 1/18 scale they suck! Especially compared to a hobbywing

      for the budget mine, the hobbywing wp8-120 is a great powerfull esc, pair it with a motor ~3000kv is good for speed on 3s..if you need more speed and power..you have to go 4s -6s with castle mmx and ~2200kv motor

    Does anybody’s motor coug in reverse

  • @gregscott1231
    @gregscott1231 7 лет назад +2

    One question, if it's running in sensorless mode is the motor lead arrangement the same? Just match A to A ect?.... We have a mamba X and Holmes puller pro that won't run right if you match the letters. But we can get it to run okay but not sensored with a mismatched combo....

    • @JPRC
      @JPRC  7 лет назад +2

      Greg scott I don't have the homes pullers motor, but while most manufacture have matching sequence but this maybe the exception. In senseless mode the lead position doesn't matter much it will spin one way other the other while sensored mode required 3 phases to match between esc and motor

    Can you fix the cogging once it starts on a traxxas valineon system, they must be calibrated at factory together, so in the beginning when you buy a new one this does not happen. Had new motor and esc sent separately to me, now horrible cogging. Thx for info bro!

    You seem to know your brushless. I learned from you. I have two brushless motors that are seizuring one intermittently the other all the time. Do you know why this is? The magnets are strong. The bearings are good (I replaced them, And the they are both sensorless). Is there any hope for them, some rc guys recommend i chuck them in the trash. I just like the value of fixing and running them more and I try to not waste when I can.

      Ok, your gonna need a multimeter set to measure resistance.
      Touch it to each of the phases (A to B, B to C, C to A, and reverse), their resistance should be very little or negligible. They should all be within a small margin for resistance.
      If the motor passes this test, take the multimeter and touch each of the wires to the stator (the metal part where are the coils are wound against). The resistance MUST be infinite, no connection must be made. If there even is the slightest bit of connection, i.e. the multimeter reads something, then that motor has a short, and is dead. If you plug that in to an esc, then you run the risk of popping it. Keep the motor still, its good for spare bearings/ rotor.

  • @TheGomezIndustries

    • @JPRC
      @JPRC  7 лет назад +1

      *-Psjw00 7-* lower kv = higher toque lower rpm, but it could run more cells which then = higher torque + higher rpm. That's why guys doing speed run usually goes 2200kv and lower kv motor ms run at 6s with very tall gearing.

      Spur 64 & motor gear 17T

    • @JPRC
      @JPRC  7 лет назад

      GManIsFly sounds like you are running this in a yeti. If so the 4600kv motor is not exactly the right motor for this truck as it is rated for a lighter truck such as Texas slash. Try dropping the gearing down to a 11T pinion and it will help with over heating and cogging. Btw the stock yeti esc is a re-branded castle sv3 so it is identical to the one you just upgraded to.

  • @cramalnig
    @cramalnig 7 лет назад

    Nice informative video, well done! I've recently changed my esc to a different one and the cogging has become more intense. I'm running a GoolRC 3800kv 3660 motor, on 3S, originally to a Hobbywing 120A esc. It ran really well, there was some cogging but it was bearable. I've since changed it to the waterproof Hobbywing WP-SC8 120A esc - the cogging is beyond... not sure why this esc is so different to the original 120A. Would playing with the timing of the motor on the esc help reduce it at all? Thanks in advance. Craig

      Anyways... (Current) amp x volts = watts
      Kinda confusing when they only put amp raiting but that's because the volts is always the same either 2s or 3 s but besides that it's the same it goes from 4.2 to 3.5 no higher no lower amps actually Carrey the energy to the source in a fashion. Power is extremely complicated if u actually start to look into it with depth

    that's not cogging.
    cogging is related to the interaction between the permanent magnets and the slots in the stator...

    Wouldn't be easier just to show the RC Cogging in Sensor less mode then Show it not cogging in Sensored mode?

    Literally none of you are addressing the most important difference between the two, witch makes me question your "knowledge" what happens if you reverse direction of the motor on a sensored system? Witch method will cause you're ESC to burn out?

    Get hobbywing ezruns.. you won't cog like you do with castle. Even with a sensored castle you get more cog then hobbywing.. I stopped buying castle after I started using the better hobbywing brands. Not the cheap knock off looking ones
