  • One of the main components of scoliosis treatment using the Schroth Method is breathing expansion. We use breathing to derotate the spine and improve elongation.
    In this video Korey explains how this works and the benefits.

    Love this informative video. I started breathing exercises 4 weeks ago. It definitely helps me to feel better.

    EXCELLENT! I had gone to about 10 Schroth sessions in the past and it was never explained so well as you do here. I tend to be very literal so knowing that you can't control your lungs - and specifically, breathing into one more than the other is not possible - yet that's what they were telling me to do - it should have been explained more truthfully- that I was to be working on the muscles around my lungs and expanding them, not one specific lung. You are my type of therapist!! Thank you!

    I just asked AI for scoliosis exercises and it lead me to this video. Its amazing that you've been helping people for almost 9 years on this channel! are there any new methods to treat scoliosis?

      I haven't seen a new scoliosis method recently. There are some variations on Schroth and I think one being developed in China but I will make a video about them as they come out. Thanks for commenting!

    I was taught to exhale using the “Ssss” sound and I am curious why this particular sound and not other exhalation technique (such as straw breathing or or other). Are you also teaching the Ssss sound and if so, what is the reasoning? Thank you

    • @AlignTherapyUtah
      @AlignTherapyUtah  2 месяца назад +1

      That is a great question. I have seen different techniques with Schroth therapists and sometimes I feel it is just personal preference. Basically we are trying to get some back pressure into the lungs to maintain some tension on the concavity as we exhale. It works as a way to eccentrically control the expansion. Other sounds could probably work but most people get the Ssss sound quickly.

    Great video! Annie has an almost identical curve pattern to me, which makes this explanation particularly helpful. I was just wondering what purpose having her hands on her shoulders serves? Thanks! :)

    Annie has lumbar left-right thoracic scoliosis? Thank yoy

    I can breathe into my left tib cage and push it out. I have my convexity to the right so it makes sense to ecpand the left side. But... how do I expand posteriorly for the left side? My ribs want to raise forward on the left side and flare. I also notice that I can expand my ribs by not even breathing. I presume that this would be my intercostals and diaphragm doing this?
    On diaphragmmatic breathing: your videos teach to push out the stomach on inhalation but this stop movement in the rib cage. Do you advise exapnsion of abdomen and then the rib cage altogether?
    What do you think of tractioning the spine as in chiropractic biophysics? I have a reversed lumbar curve and I am in agony. It predisposes me to disc pressure and I already have two herniations. Yes, schroth derotates the spine and this helps curves sagitally however my lumbar curve is only 10 degrees. Is there any exercise or method that you recommend that can help to regain a lumbar curve and thoracic curve? I do cat cat pose for thoracic and I do mckenzie ab stretch on the floor to regain lumbar curve. Im seeing poor progress and really struggling. Im doing lots and traction and pilates based exercises and glute work but I just cant seem to regain my sagital curves. Any insights would be most helpful to me as I have reached desperation and dont live in a country that has schroth method! I was thinking of doing 3 point traction offered by cbp practitioners in England and US.

      Wow, those are a lot of questions. Probably best would be to have a Schroth therapist work with you on those. I like your inquisitive mind though. Keep it up!

      Hey, I have the same convexity and concavity issues as you, but mine are in a pretty high degree considering I have a Rib hump quite big on the right side and a flared rib on the left one, have been doing dead hangs for quite a while, given the fact I'm an athletic male who works out 5-7 times a week my scoliosis didn't worse nor hurts and I can assign this to the dead hangs, looking for people with similar problems I stumbled (actually God told me to look for) scroth, I didn't even hear about it before because I live in a country where it's not even mentioned.
      Well, my point is: try doing dead hangs and use scroth, read from the book written by the woman herself and go to a therapist for him to evaluate you, afterwards with his help you can see which exercises are giving you improvements
