Genius - Asaf is unique, not like anyone else! Perhaps David Bowie's and Leonard Cohen's brilliance come to mind but I don't think anyone really influences him. He is a terrific composer, musician, vocalist, producer, & especially perfectionist (settings, lighting, sound, camera work).

Finally, I get to watch this! I hope you didn't have to sacrifice small animals to appease the copyright gods. 🙃 I appreciate how you described the textures and other aspects of the track from a musician's perspective. In addition to enjoying this track I really love the visual aesthetic of the "In A Box III series". Looking forward to more of your Avidan reactions. Cheers! 👍🏼🌟

I'm the anonymous someone who requested "900 Days". I heard Asaf for the first time when Ren recommended him to his followers. I became a lifelong fan instantly, which rarely happens. This is my favorite song in my favorite series (In a Box lll) from Asaf. When you wrote that you'd disputed the copyright block, I thought we would never see this reaction. I'm so glad we got the chance to see it, it was worth the wait! Thank you!!

In interviews he mentions Nina Simone, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, French, Russian and Mexican folk music, Edit Piaf. When writing his latest album he also listened quite a lot to rap music.

I’ve watched several of his interviews
He hasn’t really said anything about influences but he says he’s had a lot of painful relationships and he loves poetry and mythology and uses all that

Love when you point out the tone changes in the songs and the little sounds you like, sometimes it's things I haven't paid much attention to myself, but after listening to you my brain picks up on those things too. It's very nice. This is Asaf's angry song, as he says. He had some difficulty starting writing the latest album, because he had anger and frustration he needed to get out, so he wrote this one first. Then the rest followed :)

@@IzzyIzenstain He has quite a few songs like that, actually. When he gets writer's block (the song "No Words") or has no motivation (the song "Love it or Leave it") he writes songs about those issues he's having, to process them, instead of waiting for a more positive, inspirational time to write music.

I on właśnie to robi - zabiera nas w swoje światy. On ma w sobie coś hipnotycznego.
    Pozdrawiam z Polski 🇵🇱🙋. Będę zaglądać 😄

Your comment about Asaf saying that his songs aren't written, but rather discovered, relates to a Bob Dylan clip I saw today.
Paraphrase...I could never do that again. Who could come up with those words, that poetry? It was magic like it didn't come from me.

I think I've seen that clip. It was on 60 minutes maybe? Think he was talking about "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding). I'm thinking of talking about that song soon, on my Lyric podcast.

Have you checked out Leonard Cohen’s music. He is one of my favorites of all time. Try, Waiting for a Miracle; 1000 Kisses Deep; Who By Fire , all off his London Live video on You Tube. He is a great talent. I can hear Cohen’s influence in especially Labyrinth. check him out. Enjoy. Cohen is so much more than Hallelujah. On his comback tour 2008 I saw him in New York at the Beacon Theater after a 25 year absence of concerts in America; next in Austin, Tx where I live and his final concert of his North America tour at Red Rocks outside Denver. Red Rocks is an outdoor venue under the stars and the acoustics are near perfect. His voice reverbated through the rocks we were sitting on or standing on so it traveled through your body. I wept through the entire concert. It was truly a religious experience for me. I was a groupee for a year. I will never forget it.
