not sure if anyone gives a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my gf these days xD
Chris White totally agree, the instruments they use today sounds shit and boring. Kirks sound on this song in later years for example, is a pain in the ass to listen to. No wonder he use the wah pedal all the damn time.
Fuck. Jason surely was taken for granted. Most people don't even realise the toughness of this performance was because of Jason's solid groove locking in with lars. Listen to the bass and drums til after kirks first solo, that's pure lockdown. You can feel lars and Jason connecting with eachother. And that sexy drum fill before kirks first solo you can hear lars mimic Jason's descending bass line with his toms. Fucking legends
lol sorry I have to laugh at your comment, he was really good in this era but there were soooooo many better drummers though :P not disagreeing with ya just your comment came across like he was the best drummer ever thats all XD
it's hard to admit it but the era '85 - '92 was so fucking powerful.. the proof here look at the groove of Lars the power of Jason the solo of Kirk the lyrics of James and all the thinks that made them so powerful... now it's just a commercial band and the skills are really different you can say that they're old but something else has changed... and it really starts when Jason leaved... sad but true
I agree with you that they were at their best then, but commercial band? James Hetfield has in excess of 300 mill, and they give many thousands of dollars away to charities every single gig they play. Last seen them in 19', they were not just going through the motions like a lot of old bands do, they were getting as much from it as we were and putting their heart and soul into the performance. They ain't still going just for the money, that's for damn sure.
+Colby Phifer Amazing performance, as well, but Hetfield's slight variations on the way he sings certain lyrics puts this one just above that one. That's just my personal opinion, though.
This live box set is still the best live album I own. I remember my grade 10 science teacher told me why Metallica shows are so great, because they make the audience the show.
Welcome to where time stands still No one leaves and no one will Moon is full, never seems to change Just labeled mentally deranged Dream the same thing every night I see our freedom in my sight No locked doors, no windows barred No things to make my brain seem scarred Sleep my friend and you will see That dream is my reality They keep me locked up in this cage Can't they see it's why my brain says rage Sanitarium, leave me be Sanitarium, just leave me alone Build my fear of what's out there And cannot breathe the open air Whisper things into my brain Assuring me that I'm insane They think our heads are in their hands But violent use brings violent plans Keep him tied, it makes him well He's getting better, can't you tell? No more can they keep us in Listen, damn it, we will win They see it right, they see it well But they think this saves us from our Hell Sanitarium, leave me be Sanitarium, just leave me alone Sanitarium, just leave me alone Fear of living on Natives getting restless now Mutiny in the air Got some death to do Mirror stares back hard Kill, it's such a friendly word Seems the only way For reaching out again
I wish that were true. Remember what came after this? Load? The even worse Reload? They have never recaptured what they had in the period where they transitioned from Cliff to Jason. Their stated goal was to appeal to a wider audience with the black album. That's a way of saying "We're going pop-metal," which they did. They've since come back from that artistically disastrous (though commercially successful) decision, but they lost a lot of hardcore fans on the way (like me). They had been the pinnacle of adventurous, artistic, and innovative heavy metal, but they decided to join the masses of pop metal musicians and be the biggest fish in that smelly swamp. And they turned into assholes when they spoke publicly. They didn't think twice about pissing off their fans. But I really do love their first 4 albums, and I kinda like #5 even, despite its disappointing direction. But they refused to age well. It was their choice. I think now they are a much better band than they were in the late 90s, but they're not really breaking new ground like they once were. They're just a good heavy metal band. Once they were the definition of metal. Now they're a face in the crowd.
I saw Metallica in '92 in Dublin on this exact tour, I was 18 and it was my first ever proper gig. I'll never forget the experience and count myself lucky to have seen them at their absolute peak. I have seen them 3 times since and they were amazing as always, but that tour for the black album was unbeatable.
Simply fantastic...I'm going crazy especially from minute/seconds 04:07 "Fear of living on - Natives getting restless now - Mutiny in the air - Got some death to do - Mirror stares back hard - Kill, it's such a friendly word - Seems the only way - For reaching out again"... the last part of Kirk's solo is one of the most beautiful...I get the shivers!!! uaooooh!
This was the first live video clip I saw of Metallica. There was a Metallica special on Channel V in Australia around 2001, I recorded it on VHS tape and replayed that shit every night. Blew my mind as a 15 year old.
Best song ever and it’s awesome!! 80’s and early 90’s Metallica were and are the best versions ever but the best performance of welcome home sanitarium live is Seattle 1989 but this live was frickin perfect too
This might be one of the best songs of all time! It is in the same league as Fade to black and master of puppets! Metallica is absolutely the greatest metal band of all time \m/
Sorry.. For the most part I have to disagree. Load and ReLoad were one of James' best lyrical performances, along with the rest of the band. Those two albums were pieced together perfectly.
I see that most people here don't know shit about Metallica. I agree with you Callum. Metallica does whatever the fuck they want, and if people don't like it, well, there's the door.
There's nothing cooler than peak Hetfield in a wide stance, all black, and a black Explorer in his hands.
Feet about 8 meters apart...
not sure if anyone gives a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my gf these days xD
@Rex Reyansh definitely, I've been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself =)
Love that stance
PEAK HETFIELD!!! Best terminology bro!
Jason's groove,
Lars' chops,
Kirk's solos,
James voice and guitar tone
Fucking beautiful!!
Best live version of this song hands down
Chris White totally agree, the instruments they use today sounds shit and boring. Kirks sound on this song in later years for example, is a pain in the ass to listen to. No wonder he use the wah pedal all the damn time.
Chris White agree totally bro, fucking beautiful
best was in cobain township
This is awesome version, but I like more live from Seattle ´89.
@Vortiac Nice joke
Yeah dude I agree with u
1:12 where all 3 of them say "welcome" to give it that much more of a creepy feeling. Metallica level masterpiece on the first damn word.
Cyramor11 never caught that until now
Never realized before. Superb.
I think it was James and Jason only. Kirk wasn’t allowed to talk on stage lol
@@ickdon7999 lmao
My God i've heard this version a thrillion times and never realized that. Mind blown
2:40 -2:50 is why this is the best version of this song.
I thought it was just me that thought this ! 100 % agree 🤘
@@GP-ij5rx i thought i was too..lol. That part gave me goosebumps when i was 14. Im 33 now ....still does
Ha yeah man I used to compare to the Seattle one thinking nah I love this way more , it really packs a punch
@@GP-ij5rx Totally agree!
no
2:25
Rene Higuita is so good at football and also music, what a great fella
whybother 😂
I'd rather have this version of Lars Ulrich in my band than any other drummer in the world ! what a Beast on the drums !! Fucking awesome
lol sorry I have to laugh at your comment, he was really good in this era but there were soooooo many better drummers though :P not disagreeing with ya just your comment came across like he was the best drummer ever thats all XD
+Farzin Rahman I agree, he was always a technically mediocre drummer but at that time he had something unique
Niloy Rahman r u from Bangladesh?
He is indeed the most energetic drummer i have ever seen live
I feel the same i think its because of the energy he puts out while playing...beast stage presence.
i love this version james's voice is very powerful
pobrze gada! polać mu \M/ ódkie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No denying that Lars was a complete BAD ASS at one point!! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! FLAWLESS!!!
#cocaine
DubstepC2008
#OneHellOfADrug #KirkOnThatWhiteGirlToo
The real drumkit!
Sure, but Lars is such a frigging tool.
You can´t replicate this in this HD era. The sound, the camera, the vibe... just massive!
At 3:14 when he says HELL and lifts his head away always gives me chills
Keep him tied it makes him well he’s getting better can’t you tell. James has always been a good story teller, and that’s how you make music
Lar's cymbals and cymbal choice during kirks solo is tasty af
Best live version of this song🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
it's hard to admit it but the era '85 - '92 was so fucking powerful.. the proof here look at the groove of Lars the power of Jason the solo of Kirk the lyrics of James and all the thinks that made them so powerful... now it's just a commercial band and the skills are really different you can say that they're old but something else has changed... and it really starts when Jason leaved... sad but true
It's hard to admit that you said "leaved."
I agree with you that they were at their best then, but commercial band? Best live performance of this song, bar none.
+Colby Phifer Amazing performance, as well, but Hetfield's slight variations on the way he sings certain lyrics puts this one just above that one. That's just my personal opinion, though.
+Colby Phifer Hetfields actually singing here
yeah they're head to head
For my the best versión is in México 93, James sing perfect this song.
Eu vejo esses shows antigos e só consigo pensar: cara que perfeito, nunca mais vai ter shows assim eu tinha que ter vivido essa época!
Maria Eduarda pois é.
1989 à 1994 metálica tava no auge
Probably best period of James's voice.
This live box set is still the best live album I own. I remember my grade 10 science teacher told me why Metallica shows are so great, because they make the audience the show.
Welcome to where time stands still
No one leaves and no one will
Moon is full, never seems to change
Just labeled mentally deranged
Dream the same thing every night
I see our freedom in my sight
No locked doors, no windows barred
No things to make my brain seem scarred
Sleep my friend and you will see
That dream is my reality
They keep me locked up in this cage
Can't they see it's why my brain says rage
Sanitarium, leave me be
Sanitarium, just leave me alone
Build my fear of what's out there
And cannot breathe the open air
Whisper things into my brain
Assuring me that I'm insane
They think our heads are in their hands
But violent use brings violent plans
Keep him tied, it makes him well
He's getting better, can't you tell?
No more can they keep us in
Listen, damn it, we will win
They see it right, they see it well
But they think this saves us from our Hell
Sanitarium, leave me be
Sanitarium, just leave me alone
Sanitarium, just leave me alone
Fear of living on
Natives getting restless now
Mutiny in the air
Got some death to do
Mirror stares back hard
Kill, it's such a friendly word
Seems the only way
For reaching out again
I know Rob is an amazing bassist but damn I miss Jason almost as much as I miss Cliff, and my youth!
Best live version, guitars sound great and vocal is off the charts! Repeat another 4829311 times😁
This concert along with (i believe?) 93's Mexico are fucking golden ones, such an awesome live performance!
Seattle89 san diego92 and mexico 93 top

Andres Media no, live Seattle its better
best Metallica concert ever
Fuck the overrated Seattle. This is way better, pls clear your ears.
I was there. moved away 25 years ago.miss San Diego very much 🌅🌊🤙
Metallica are like a fine wine, they get better with age :)
I wish that were true. Remember what came after this? Load? The even worse Reload? They have never recaptured what they had in the period where they transitioned from Cliff to Jason. 1:28 Jason’s harmony on “in our sight” is incredible
Such a great song, sure wish I was at this show! They sound amazing back then
I saw Metallica in '92 in Dublin on this exact tour, I was 18 and it was my first ever proper gig. I'll never forget the experience and count myself lucky to have seen them at their absolute peak. Jason was so DAMN GOOD LIVE Jesus his tone and STAGE PRESENCE 😊
I miss the 90s. Music was absolutely epic back then
masterpiece
it is a BIG diference of metallica then and now, but i think that in the 1990 they are the gods
This was the first live video clip I saw of Metallica. There was a Metallica special on Channel V in Australia around 2001, I recorded it on VHS tape and replayed that shit every night. Blew my mind as a 15 year old.

Yep his black & white kit was just awesome
I really love this song. This was my first song i learn on the Guitar! Metallica for ever!
What a performance ♥️
And I love the 💪🏼 Jason did as Lars hit I believe the cymbal and snare at 4:55
you know that's actually an amazing way to think of Metallica :)
2:47 always gives me chills
R.I.P Cliff Burton
This was one of the best live shows in the universe.! i put this right after the PULSE concert by floyd.!
Estoy en el paraíso tremendo tema
Cómo me pongo a llorar con esta canción 🥲
me encanta este live!
how music can be so good?
My favorite album has been St.Anger for a long time now. Listen to it! it is good!!
There are no bad Metallica albums i think.
We don't need to compare. =) We metalheads know that both are amazing bands in their own right
Best live version!!!
This might be one of the best songs of all time! It is in the same league as Fade to black and master of puppets! Metallica is absolutely the greatest metal band of all time \m/
Metallica at the top of their game
2022 and this masterpiece aged like fine wine

Seattle is a bit distorted at times
it is
Yeah, some of the performances from this show out-did Seattle's and vice versa
LARS 3:39 Best of the best
miss 80's and 90's
2:48 where he goes "insuring that I'm insane" that the best part when he hits the higher note.

Sorry.. For the most part I have to disagree. Load and ReLoad were one of James' best lyrical performances, along with the rest of the band. Those two albums were pieced together perfectly.
