I think this is great product and it looks like a lot of fun. I could see this being a great Christmas or family project that could be used on rainy days with the family having a lot of fun.I think crawlers are great starter r/c cars for young kids. I think they would enjoy it. I could see kids building their own obstacles.
Hi Phil thanks for sharing this with us. Definitely a good idea for a bit of indoor Crawling fun. Quick clean and convenient perfect. Hope everyone has a great weekend 🇬🇧🕊️✌🏼
@@TomleyRC DEFINITELY. VERY HANDY FOR THE PARENT NOT VERY GOOD WITH THERE HANDS IMAGINATION OR MORE MONEY THAN SENSE LOL🤣🤣. I PERSONALLY THINK ITS A GREAT IDEA🇬🇧✌🏼
I used to build N- Scale train layouts using scrap foam and paper towels soaked in drywall plaster. I already have ideas to build my own Mini crawler park. You can use craft wire and sticks to make a swing bridge. You can use many scraps of wood and other discarded cardboard and foam board to make anything you desire. Much could be free scraps and a hot glue gun.
That middle obstacle that the trucks had a hard time getting over seemed pretty decent, the others seemed a bit too easy to do. Would imagine it gets old pretty quickly. Not a lot of different lines to try out. It all looks well made, but for that kind of money I can get a lot of foam, plaster, paint, static grass and other stuff to build free standing obstacles, or small and large crawler tracks/terrains. :D
The flex ramp is called an RTI ramp. There is a whole formula for it. The distance traveled in inches divided by the wheelbase in inches and multiplied by 1,000. 1000 being perfect score. You are supposed to use a 20 degree ramp.
In Arizona... Winter is our play OUTSIDE! 😁 That's brilliant! A bit pricey for Cardboard, Wood and Carpet, but it adds convenience for a lot of people who can't build their own. Apartment dwellers particularly! It makes quite a nice Course. 👍👍
I can understand where this is coming from but, 180 quid for this does not represent good value for money as far as I'm concerned. Way back during covid lockdown I built my own range of obstacles using carboard, loo roll inners and an assortment of other random bits and pieces. Total cost probably less than a fiver for glue and paint. Not difficult to do, creative, very satisfying and the money saved can be spent on other items that you can't build yourself.
I love it Phil, its awesome, and with the new C24 Crawler Comp coming this winter, this would be ideal Love the angle of the dangle boards, i am tempted to get a 1/10th one to go with Optimus Blue..... Thankyou for all you do !
Love your channel, I watch it more than Kev but I'd stop talking about him in your videos, you're doing great on your own merits and he can do his thing. Thanks!
Or grab some nice rocks outside and set them up in different ways to make new lines and challenges whenever you want to. :D I've spent way less than that on making a couple of far more challenging tracks from foam, expanding foam, homemade sculptamold, some paint, static grass and stuff found around outside.
I could see this being a cool Christmas gift for a rich kid but the 4 ply rock A frame thing could have texture if the layers were cut to slightly different shapes. Seems like a missed opportunity just laser cuttting them all the same shape
I mean not a bad point...or just go outside lol. But, we say the same thing about our vehicles too but here we are, in a world where RTR and kits dominate and custom vehicles are unicorn type rare lol
@@Lord_Pistachio_Nut Sure, it's not for everyone, making crawler tracks, modyfying RCs, or even just building kits. Maybe this track thing can be for some people, but looking at it, it looks like it would get old very quickly for most small crawlers, even stock ones. A small pile of nice looking rocks would probably be better, as you can rearrange them to make new challenges when you feel like - and if you do a little extra you can even make them a decorative feature. :D
I made a little run of different width pieces of wood glued together and it's bumpy and if you go too fast you bounce off.....it's kind of fun actually......
0921 here in Arkansas USA!!! Thanks for the vid Tomley!!! I've looked at these since a saw kev with some of it it's a cool idea but I work at a collision repair shop and a repair tech and I have access to heaps and mounds of cardboard so buying would be silly for me I make ramps and things all the time great Idea and product for people who either dont have access to materials or just cant be bothered to build their own. Great idea.
Awesome ride, Phil! 😃 Perhaps you could do something to the parts where the tires touch them, so they can stick better. I don't know, but perhaps even a bit of sanding with 80 grit sandpaper could fix it! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Not really available in my country. A little pricey, too. I've saved up some pressed cardboard packing from some Keurigs. They make some similar cardboard obstacles you can buy. I figure I can chop them up and lay some plaster sheets over and paint them for a cool layout. I just haven't gotten to it for myself.
I actually used my laser cutter and made a flex and angle finder for seeing how steep my crawlers can climb and how much flex then made my off road crawler track with my laser cutter same style but not the same jsut out of hobby grade ply. And my log roller coaster was made out of real tree limbs and epoxied together and its beautiful and huge and long and tall and a blast to crawl.on. i never knew how much fun rc crawling was hntil i got a 1/24 scale rc crawler and built a few obstacles then got a 1/18 scale crawler and was hooked after the forst time i crawled with the 1/24 scale one. Question could you use a stepper motor for crawling since you dont need high speed
HI TOMLEY. I like the crawler set , as I have wanted to build a small scale track . Cheers for showing this item on your video. I Still don't drink coffee , lol anyway CHEERS. Tea. drinkers unite...
Yeah the one bit of track was the wrong way round, but you did correct it in the end. I have one of these sets, good fun. Great vid and all the best with your new venture
I’m glad I just saw this video. I knew of this product. I have seen it on Amazon. But after watching I am a bit disappointed, even though there has been alot of thought put into the product. It looks like a perfect setup for a much younger crowd. But not as challenging as I would like. Their angle measuring device is neat and the only thing I would consider buying. I have seen that used on another Utube channel. I make my own courses. But they aren’t foldable. I kinda thought the one you tested was more portable. 🙁

Articulation = Suspension travel over over an object with extreme range of movement in the joints or links. If you have great articulation sometimes tire size isn't important.
Nice.. Btw 9:12 ok so the normal gears in regular rc cars are called "crown and pinion gears"?? So is that the proper name for the transmission system in most RC Cars? Just Wanted to know its proper name so can refer to it exactly, the other one is called the worm gear transmission as you mentioned, Cheers

I see a problem with being made from sheets of wood, as the tyres simply don't have enoght surface area to grip on, to add to it its also very shinny and smooth. So probably I would run a dremel with a cutting wheel to rough them up a bit so the tyres can catch better.

I love the concept, but at the prices being asked I can’t see it being a success unfortunately. Yes, I suppose the market for such a course is quite limited, but I’m struggling to see the value in some laser cut wood with some printing on it.
