- Across Myanmar, hundreds of thousands of people follow the teachings and practices of wizards thought to have supernatural powers. These ‘weizza’ intimidate and overawe people in equal measures.

Buddhism and magic are uniquely linked in Myanmar, and many influential people follow a mystical religious extension. ‘A lot of politicians, even ministers have tried to come and talk to me’, says Charlotte Myat, who is popular on social media for her ability to communicate with the spirits of past weizza. Former military leader Ne Win ordered drivers to change from driving on the left side of the road to the right, on the advice of weizza fortune tellers. But with Myanmar once again under brutal military rule, some of these customs have been forced underground. Weizza Lin Nyo Tar Yar was arrested by police officers for posting a video of a ritual claiming he would ‘destroy the dictators’, with his magic. He has been sentenced to two years in prison. ‘The youth are now really curious about weizza and they want to know about the invisible world’, he says.

But when they die they go to a much bigger and better place.

i was one of those that called bs scam whateva on this kinda of power. Until i met a powerful human being who really can do unexplainable stuff. yes there is one god and priests however some humans may inherit spiritual power and the trick is to get the powerful one as the amateur can really do nothing much.
