  • In the continued aftermath of Myanmar’s 2021 military coup, pro-democracy rebels continue to fight against government repression, risking their lives to do so.

After Myanmar’s military coup in February 2021, and the brutal suppression of the protests that followed, thousands of pro-democracy activists decided to fight back against the generals. ‘I joined the armed revolution because I believe if you’re a real human being you have to be brave enough to stand up for what you believe in’, says Bamahti Abadi. Like many others, he fled to the remote countryside to join the armed resistance, known collectively as the People’s Defence Force (PDF). ‘With the PDF’s motivation and effort, if they were properly armed I believe that they could be a lot more effective’, says Lt. Kareng Naw Htoi of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). The PDF receive training, weapons and support from long-established ethnic rebel groups, such as the KIA and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA). ‘In the future of our country, I hope to see the end of military dictatorship and a federal democratic nation governed by elected politicians’, says Naw Naw, a resistance fighter.

You know nothing about this. Myanmar is comprised of dozens of ARMED tribes and each of them fight against themselves or against the central government. Rohingya is one such tribe. The US and EU helped Rohingya and these tribes covertly because it suits their agenda to destabilize the region just like in Korea and Vietnam war.
Suki, although a fair democrat, was too soft against these fledgling tribes. The central government is far from perfect, but IT'S THE BEST HOPE against these violent tribes.
Only if you entertain the idea about having refugees and SA cartels taking control of the US/EU, only then, you can tell me again that you support these tribes.

@@asian0665 If you're really from here don't you know that each of these +50 tribes have been at each other's throat since forever? And if you live or deal business with people around this region for +20 years you should know that the armed tribes are far more animalistic than the central military government.
You know well what will happen if one of these tribes come into power. Do you think forming a temporal ally with them will stop them from lopping your head off tomorrow?
So you just want "peace"? That's why so many young folks got killed because you are too naive and believed in the US/EU pipe-dreams. I've already said this in my previous comment, but I'll say it again - The west simply wants to destabilize the region by inciting the uninformed local populace to die for them, exactly the same tactics they used in Vietnam, Korea Nicaragua, etc. This is nothing new.
PS: You shouldn't ask where I'm from. I could be the long-lost queen of Myanmar or a military officer trying to spin this around for all you need to know. I simply just want people to see the truth from a different side.

Burma would have been much better off without Anglo British Colonialism.
For instance, there's hardly any Muslim, Hindu or Christian there up until Colonialism.
True, it's fair to say that many of these tragedies that nation facing today, such as racial, ethnic and religious conflicts, started with Colonialism. 😔
Speaking of ethnic and religious tragedies Burma facing today, the fact that the world's longest Civil War which is in Myanmar, mainly between Buddhist Burmese and Christian Karen (while Buddhist Karen are largely at peace) was made it possible, prolonged and supported by Anglo Clans of USA, UK & Australia, etc while they are using next-door neighbor Thailand (which has a defense treaty with them) as a base camp since in the 1950.
In my humble opinion, ethnic Karen refugees fleeing the conflict/war in Myanmar are entitled to cross over to Thailand to stay, as well as eligibility to relocate to new places such as USA, Australia.
      - The fact that the world's longest Civil War which is in Myanmar, mainly between Buddhist Burmese and Christian Karen (while Buddhist Karen are largely at peace) was made it possible, prolonged and supported by Anglo Clans of USA, UK & Australia, etc while they are using next-door neighbor Thailand (which has a defense treaty with them) as a base camp since in the 1950. True, ethnic Karen refugees fleeing the conflict/war in Myanmar are entitled to cross over to Thailand to stay, as well as eligibility to relocate to new places such as USA, Australia.
      - Anglo Clans of USA, UK & Australia, etc are using next-door neighbor Thailand, which has a defense treaty with them, as a base camp since in the 1950s; from which attack against China/PRC was launched by sending Chinese Nationalist (Taiwanese Kuomintang) forces into nearby Burma's eastern border closed to China in the '50s and '60s.
In the '60s and '70s, using Thailand as a base camp, attack against nearby Laos & Cambodia were launched during Indochina war where several millions innocent civilians were killed.
      - Colonialism & Colonization are evil things done and benefited by evildoers.. Here in Singapore, a tiny island with 6 million souls lives like sardines in a can, where else in nearby vast bountiful Australia which is ten thousand times 10,000 bigger with a mere 27 million inhabitants.
Similar situation in tiny and packed Japan, which is running out of space and land. Do you know that their living room and bedroom are the same place, and that most Japanese people sleep in their living room.
      - Here's the one solution. Why don't Burma's Muslim, Hindu & Christian population, if they wish, move to place like Anglo Colonized vast bountiful Australia/New Zealand in Asia-Pacific region? After all, these are Asia-Pacific lands looted from Native Asians-Pacific people." 😔
Speaking of the coups in Burma and some others around the world today are totally different from the coups which took place over half a century earlier when newly independent nations, including Burma, just came out of centuries-long Colonialism, bitter and poverty-stricken, turned to a new deal of Social-Democratic system (Socialism/Communism).
      - Today's coups, in most cases, are changes in the political system only, while the economic system is mostly left intact. Like I said, today's coups, in nations such as South Korea, the Philippines & Thailand, in most cases, are changes in the political sector only, while the economic/investment sectors are mostly left intact.
      - So what is this the fact that the West & their Western news media hardly utter a negative word about coups in Asian nations such as South Korea & the Philippines in the past and Thailand today; and yet the West, Western news media and their affiliates hardly have a day goes by without having negative comments & reactions regarding coup in Myanmar.
May I ask why are they treating it so differently with Myanmar and most of all, what are they up to, what is their truth motives behind all these?
      - Speaking of USA-led joint annual military exercise in Thailand, which has been under military coup since 2014, and true, last August 2021/22, the largest annual military exercise was held among full participating nations, USA, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia & Singapore.

This is something that the spoiled people of the West have forgotten. Most westerners (US and Western Europeans) have completely forgotten what it means to stand and fight for freedom. Most have forgotten the true cost of freedom. And don't give me the crap about the US having been at war for over a decade. That war only touched a very small percentage of Americans such as myself who served or those who had family members in the military. The majority of the US and Western Europe has forgotten that the price of freedom is the blood of heroes. It's time that the West remembered this and found the courage to stand for freedom and self-determination.

They looted anyone anywhere wherever they want. Most of the people trying to cross LOC to live freely like a human but Indian govt.can't help due to security reasons. Each and every night, hundreds of girls and woman are being raped but there's nothing poor civilians can do. Rape is not even counted as serious crime in the eyes of cruel army chief. Human rights are being violated, life of common people in North korea seems to be much more better. Even Fighter jets are being use against their own people for bombing, last year there was issues regarding bombing in India Myanmar border violating international laws. India govt.warns not to happen it ever again or else ready to pay the price. Myanmar army apologize and ensure not to happen again. But its really hard to see the life of myanmar people.

I can’t even go to school because of this .if i go to online school they will hunt down the students and teachers so yeah my fate isn’t looking too good. I am an American combat veteran of Afghanistan and Africa who has been living in Myanmar for most of the last 10 years.
5:08... it is biased that the army is "targeting civilians in opposition areas". My research finds this to be false. Have "civilians" been killed, yes. The insurgents use the civilians as a shield and a tool of propaganda.
The problem is that the international media looks only to the opposition as a source of information and disregard all information from the government. I can prove insurgent activity in targeted villages.
18:30... This LT is talking what I was thinking when watching. The KIA are warriors, true warriors. I have seen old men in the mountains with swords that I knew better than to F-with. These PDF, include dozens of my former students, unfortunately. They are not cut out to be soldiers. They are children, different than the 18 years olds we enlist in the US. It breaks my heart to see them join the insurgencies. They don't know what they are doing. They have no real leadership. They are idealists who have not suffered enough to learn military discipline. These training programs are inadequate to their goals. It has become a kind of insurgency tourism for the locals to go get "trained".
20:00... I don't buy a single bit of what this guy is saying. They "busted the locks" on a bamboo hut? They stole our gold??? (You left gold behind???)
20:30... "We thought it was local soldiers, as usual". Proof that this was a village supporting the insurgency, occupied by insurgents.
22:10... "They torched a house claiming it was a PDF post". It most likely was.
23:20... Myanmar people are always saying that they want a federal democracy, not knowing the meaning of the term. If you look at what they really want, is a confederacy (an idea that I think would suit them well, culturally). They have a federal system already, it is just a federal dictatorship at the moment. They had democracy, and the first thing they did was to appoint a queen. The army 'fed her enough rope to hang herself', and that's what she did. She tried a power grab that failed, giving the army an excuse to take power again.
24:10... "problems disarming them after the conflict is over". This is why I don't support the NUG/PDF. They are no better than those they seek to destroy. They just want to be the next oppressors. Many have told me, if they win, they will genocide the military families. Then, it will be the same BS of not giving equality to the ethnic minorities. And, the minorities know that, they bide their time hoping circumstances will turn more favorable.
Many of the ethnic groups hate the Bamar, but the reality is, in my perspective, that each group is nothing without the others, but food for China. They don't appreciate that they need each other. They don't appreciate the thannakkha that binds them as a national people.
Impartiality is looking at the perspective of both sides. Overall a good video, but your partiality turns you into propagandist. And Myanmar people are the most brilliant at propaganda that I have ever seen (and I have helped produce propaganda for USA, I know what I'm talking about).

On the first sentence, you said no "civilians in opposition areas are targeted" and yet buring villages "supporting the insurgency, occupied by insurgents." is kinda OK?🤔
Isn't that quite ironic, you defended that no civilians in opposition areas being targeted and also justifying the scorching the unarmed civilians' village just because it was suspected of being PDF post.🤡
By the introduction you have given, "an American veteran" , is that how the Americans do the things?
Like, if some villages are being suspicious of being Taliban's hideouts, you guys burn the whole village or bombard the whole area?
You know that the ones who wrote really long paragraph in social media are more likely to be propagandist, just like you. I assume that US kicked you out and now you are producing propaganda for the JUNTA huh?💩
Seeing your kins make my blood boils as a Burmese civillian.
IF ANY OF YOU WANT TO FACT CHECK ----> Just search /HTAN TA LAN/ which is a town with moderate population that burned down not so long by the JUNTA. That is just one of many burnt town created by the JUNTA.
Fight between the combatant is fine ,but burning , raping and killing (they even cut off the limbs and head and even no mercy for the genitals --- we got that evidences because one soldier recorded those crimes like a achievement and dropped the phone by mistake-- you can search that) are straight up atrocities and violating the every possible humanitarian laws.
And that's why young ppl are converting themself to PDF and resisting the COUP. 💪

@@hbink2310 If you take up arms, you don't get to hide behind the word civilian.
Again, taking only information from one side is biased.
I have seen the videos. That doesn't mean PDF doesn't also murder innocent people. They do.
The US doesn't do these things, because our culture is different. And our military is strong.
Myanmar army is "bad" because the system is broken with corruption. Officers steal the salaries of their troops.
If everyone in the opposition took government jobs and joined the army with vows of ending the corruption; things could have been solved peacefully.
It's not my country. Not my place to take a side. So Iisten to both sides. Both sides are guilty in my opinion.
That is why I criticize individual points made in this video.
You however clearly have a side. Fine, its your country.
If you win, you will let the families of military continue their lives?
Will you refrain from executing those who served?

And also there is ANTI ISAMIC MONK who made to the head new of Times , is lobbyist of military.
Just recently they were still bragging about the country is in absolute good shape while it is in complete chaos.
Actually , I am deeply connected with military and I've even met with Min Aung Hlaing. My relatives are also serving not because they want to but because they can't leave. And all of us are rooting for the revolution.
As an insider , I know about military more than you.
You know just sitting on the fence and watching is the worst thing any citizen can do.
Most of the civilians who were killed by the military weren't armed. You wouldn't know when the coup started there were no armed resistance not even protested in the first 3 days .And also when we protested we avoid violence as much as we can. But all of them didn't bore any fruits. Citizens foolishly believed in the military that
they would listen to their voices. Despite that the Junta just greeted with rains of bullets and complete terrors.
      And you know the rest.
The thing is you generalize the two forces and put them on equal place is way beyond me.
One is staright up being ultranationlist and facist while the other is just funded and beloved by the people.
What we are doing is not simply a power struggle , it is a revolution.
I don't want to say big word since both side are just killing each other, but their intentions are on the different end of spectrum. They fighting for freedom and restoring the human rights. So if they win and try to execute the opposite side without trial , they will be way off their track. Which is aganist the sore purpose of arming themselves to fight injustice.

the sad reality is the PDF are badly outmatched in weaponry both aerial and ground, imposing no-fly zone from UN intervention is badly needed. but this is UN we'r talking about

All the best for the KPDF!!! Outrageous behaviour by one of the world's worst regimes. I wish the freedom fighters of Myanmar lots of success in their fight for freedom in their home country. This war isn't as well known as the one in Ukraine but just as important imo

    • @alexbaldmon4636

No its not. Myanmar is not as important as Ukraine, if it was, the US would be more present there. Hopefully democracy prevails in Myanmar though, the people there deserve to live a peaceful life.

@c m The US has sought alliance with Myanmar at least twice that I am aware of, under Eisenhower and Nixon. You can look for the documentaries yourself, the research will reward you more than me wasting my time to find the links for you.
US diplomacy in Myanmar is complete failure. Mao's policy to destabilize Myanmar has been adhered to by every CCP Chairman since.
Myanmar people (culture) will never allow US to gain any leverage of value, thus US investment would have no offset gain.
I really appreciate how you care about this issue!!!!!

The sad think about different insurgents hvng common enemy is once the enemy is gone then back stabbing will occur. ..
In Burma northeast Indian insurgents are also currently trying to form power in Burma/Myanmar by allying with pdf or supporting them by in reality they hve no more place in India and need Myanmar for their base....it means they are fleeing from Indian army.....so once the junta is overthrown it'll be alot of hell if they didn't figure something out.....i know this coz i live in North East india
