    I am so happy with an i7 13700k, do not need anything else! now if you want to upgrade from an 8th gen or less then yes, you need to! life changer! will render a 4-minute video in 1 minute, not 30 minutes not two hours like back in the core 2 duo days, not like a q6600, not like a i7 4770k, that is ancient now! Thanks bro! great upgrade for the same price as last year's launch!

      Pretty much depending on your workload. If I wasn't already running a decent Zen2 system which is realistically still "ok" to use for work - I would be sticking with probably 7800X3D or something instead.
      But I am backing Intel for this generation as it's less for gaming and mainly as a video station. AMD definitely won the last 2-3 generations of CPU's before this though.

    I still believe you should have tested these CPUs with the Multi-Core Enhancement "feature" disabled at BIOS. While it is true that most people don't know about it and hence, they'll just keep it at enabled by default, it is also true that most people don't watch tech reviewers channels before buying a new CPU and I, for one, definitely don't recommend anyone to keep Multicore enhancement enabled because it is essentially overvolting your CPU by making it go above the rated spec, which can significantly reduce the overall lifespan of the CPU.

    Would you still recommend a contact frame with the 14th Gen?

    • @pc-ninja
      @pc-ninja 11 месяцев назад +1

      The main reason for using a contact frame is to improve the cooling performance of the CPU cooler. The contact frame helps to distribute the pressure of the cooler evenly across the CPU, which can help to improve heat transfer and reduce temperatures. This can be especially important for high-performance CPUs like the Core i9-14900K that generate a lot of heat. So if you are using a high-performance CPU like the Core i9-14900K or are experiencing overheating issues, using a contact frame may help to improve cooling performance.

    SOLD! Targeting an *_Intel 14th gen 14900k_* now when that price comes down. That was such a close run though with the previous gen effort. But since it's an option it's gotta be the ever-so-slightly quicker 14th gen.
    Even though I like stuff with 13 on or in the name cuz I am odd like that :D Appreciate it bro! When it's finished I shall go visit the store. I also feel like, the entire disaffected LLT audience will end up over here. This is what he used to wish to be before the Chinese Inquisition took control.

    I was wrong The 13900K with AI overclocking on the Z790 Aorus Master becomes an even more compelling choice. Its significantly lower cost, power consumption, and quieter operation offer remarkable value and efficiency for your 3D rendering and animation work. The AI overclocking can potentially boost performance further without requiring extensive manual tweaking or the risks associated with pushing a higher-TDP CPU to its limits. Its got to be the 13900K

    These are all fine and dandy, but the 13th and 14th gen I9s have reliability issues, so the 12th is still the way to go unless you like replacing CPUs. The 13th gen is a flat out disaster when you factor in the the oxidation issues, on top of the microcode issues. Sure, the 13th and 14th gen I9s are faster, but only until they fail. Those are a waste of money in my book.

    Man i don't want bother you but... like all you deep testing because they are mostly in the "content creation" area than the "gaming" (i hate those invasive YT videos about gaming computers).
    But because of that (content creation) you always forget the "music creation" that is a big part of the "content creation" (what are videos or a 3D animation without music?!?).
    ANNNDDD... is a very "mission critical" part of the "content creation"... expecially about the NIGHTMARE of all the "computer musician": realtime latency using VST's (both instruments and efxs) bith in the recording process and the post-prod mixing process.
    I know that LATENCY is a multi-variable parameter (it depends from cpu, ram, i/o ports if it is USB, thunderbolt, or a pcie board, and the software DAW, VST optimization, audio interface used) BUT as other many test you do you can "set" a testing platform (RME is a very good standard to chose about audio interfaces and maybe Reaper or Cubase a good standard about software DAW) and you can cover this very important area of the pc "content creation".
    As a hint i can say that in this area the single-core power and the P-core power are the most important (i.e. the i9 14900k with the 6Ghz single core power seems to be the best nowdays!).
    Just my 50cents for you channel (that i love and follow anyway, couse i'm interested in 2D, 3D and video editing too!)

    @Tech Notice Great video i was wondering did you turn off Bit locker when testing? As Windows 11 causing performance issues with SSDs, particularly NVMe SSDs. This issue has been observed in various updates, with some users experiencing significant slowdowns in read and write speeds. Disable BitLocker encryption: If you don't require BitLocker encryption, disabling it can significantly improve SSD performance. However, this will remove the security benefits of encryption. The impact on read speeds is generally less severe, with some benchmarks showing a reduction of around 5-10%. However, the overall impact on SSD performance can still be noticeable, especially for tasks that involve frequent data writes.

    Exploring this subject as a creator proves challenging due to the numerous variables involved. When delving into 3D rendering, the potential power savings on extended renders may be a factor to consider, albeit in specific scenarios. The increased power consumption, with a base power draw (TDP) of 125W, contrasts with the 13900K's 65W TDP. This discrepancy might influence my preference towards the 13900K.

    Are you using original test scores on older CPU's? My performance on a 12600K/RTX3080 keeps improving with subsequent releases of Davinci Resolve. My standard score has increased from about 2100 to nearly 2500 over the past 10 months based solely on Davinci upgrades.

    Any chance we can get a revisiting of four DIMMs at XMP on these new 14th-gen CPUs? Can they run at 6400MT/s with 4 DIMM of the common G.Skill CL32s? 4x16GB or 4x32GB, maybe?

    • @SamLoki
      @SamLoki 11 месяцев назад

      @@theTechNotice going by the spec sheet for supported xmp and your reasoning for limiting ram clock for each CPU doesn't make too much sense when xmp is already an overclock in of itself. And then saying 14th gen probably has better IMC compared to 13th (which is most likely true) defeats the purpose of going off supported on the spec sheet. For example, the 12900k can definitely still run 6000 xmp the kit intended. Throwing in a variable like that was just silly to me because better silicon for IMC is more about the threshold of its highest manual overclock and artificially limiting supported xmp of the ram kit to separate the tested CPUs against each other isn't the right way to get that point across. I see what you were trying to do and the data probably wouldn't get skewed too much if you kept the same XMP for each CPU, i just thought it was kind of silly to do

    Testing two cpus at the same ram speeds will not show memory controller differences, it will just show core scaling differences. They make those specs so that even if you have a bottom 1% cpu or a cheap motherboard, you won't complain to them. For the most part you can run 7200 easily (with two sticks) on 13th gen with a decent motherboard, or 6400 if you have a cheaper motherboard. If you have an expensive motherboard with 2 dimm slots you should be able to run 7600 on a 13th gen cpu. 14900k could be on average 200mhz better similar to the 13900ks.
