Lots of love and comments on this vid, thank you 😊 ALSO lots of people asking about the Ping G410 and why that’s not in the test. Mentioned it before but I’m trying to limit myself to three new products in the test from different manufacturers. I’ve tested ping in the wedges and fairway wood (fairway wood winning). It’s not an exact science and lots of really good clubs won’t be tested in this process but the line has to be drawn somewhere 👍
Peter Finch Golf after watching the 3 wood build your bag and you picking the G410+ LST curious why you didn’t pick the driver as one of the options in this matchup. I understand you wanted to keep it to 3 clubs but why not 4 or 5 ? Would’ve been nice to have the Mizuno ST200 and the G410 driver in the mix
Glenn Wisse i agree 💯. G410+ has the highest MOI (except a PXG model which is marginally higher, but ridiculously priced) matched with excellent distance it’s definitely a winner. Best Forgiveness/most accurate and near longest is the best combo in a 2019 driver even compared to 2020 drivers !
I'm with you my dude, although I have been a TM fan my whole life, I went to get fitted with an open mind, tried the Sim, Maverick, and G410 and as much as I tried to set my bias aside the SIM just crushed everything else. We know that you are giving your genuine opinion when it really matters. Keep up the good work, you are giving Rick a run for his money!
Had a driver fitting last week, before I saw this. Tried 5 drivers and Sim was also it for me. Even with a poor strike it still performed. And it looks amazing
Hi Peter As a 65yrs+ retired golf Professional I really enjoy your videos and Ricks as well. Sad to not see a Mizuno in the test. Please do test one before you decide! My st-180 was very much more consistent than any of the competitors (f9, flash etc ) and from the tests I've seen, the current Mizuno is a really good one for accuracy!
Long ball hitter don't play Ping , It's made for average swing speed. Which means Ping designed there drivers for 99.9% of the golfers .Smart on there part.
Not surprised. When you got signed to TM last year you were the most excited about the driver. You always seem to love Mizuno irons in the golf bidder challenges as well. I think a lot of the performance numbers was because you wanted the clubs you picked to be better. Not once were you shocked or just gutted about one club being better than another which is fine and normal I think. Good luck with your comps when they get going again Pete!
@@peterfinchgolf Mate you need to get a set of identical shafts for testing purposes, so you can give the best and most accurate reviews. The shafts with different weights and lengths are going to change the results far to much, when it's actually the club head you're reviewing, not the shaft.

I just recently got a new sim and even being a HIGH handicap player who used to tee off with long irons over my driver the sim has given me confidence in my driver and now when I have a half way decent swing I’m putting the ball over 300 yards and when I’ve had really good swings I’ve reached 350 yards
I have been using the old super old 910 d3 and hit it just the same 270 yards titanium beats them all I tried a few Taylor made a they are really nice but can’t change stuck with ts3
You have to try an axis 1 putter. They look a little goofy but they feel fantastic. Atleast with my very straight back and through putter stroke they do.
Loved the call of one when you knocked it off the tee 😂😂 Its so childish but that’s exactly same as me and my mates do when we are playing if it happens.
I love the Series. It’s been really nice to see all the big names go head to head. I personally love the SIM. I’ve hit most of the other brand and just fell in love with the SIM when I hit it. Like you said the look behind the ball is beautiful in my opinion. And I’m also not the best ball striker with a driver but the SIM gave me the best forgiveness. Love all the videos and can’t wait to see the next 2nd hand club challenge!
I absolutely love my Taylormade SIM. Straight and long. Consistently outdrive others. I’m a senior (65) so not the fastest swinger. Hitting from the centre more times than not and it’s sweet. I only have the stiff shaft. Would be interested in trying the extra stiff. Club is 10.5 but set down to 9. Drive around 235 yards which I’m more than pleased with. I had a fitting and tried the Ping, the Cobra, the Mavrik and the SIM. My swing speed was 98mph or 89 when I backed it down. The Sim was 20 yards farther than the other clubs.
Exact shafts in comparison is paramount. COR of club face is an established guide and all drivers fall in to these guide lines. Same type shaft has to be used. I do enjoy your vids.
If you add some hot melt to the regular Mavrik it then starts to perform like the Sub Zero version but with the forgiveness. Best of both worlds. Have both the Sim and Mavrik and on longest shots the Sim wins, however it’s not the most forgiving and also much more fade biased compared to all the other clubs. Hated the Cobra as it felt dead off the face, even when struck well. All shots feel the same and why I did not get along with it. F9 felt better but the Mavrik has the sound and feel.
I understand when fitting you want to take your regular swing, but personally, I would slow my swing down for some shots and play my regular swing other times. That's mostly because I'm inconsistent

I tested the new Taylormade it’s way better than my F8 really love it. The only problem it’s the price. Also the small head of the SIM feels easy to hit for me, lots of straight long shots.
I think what unlocks the Cobra is increasing the head weight. I feel like getting fully fit for both the SIM and Cobra then retest would make for a great video.
I love the quad view, you should do that for every time you compare data on multiple shots, I thought it was very concise and if i wanted to see the numbers I can just pause.
Given you say you're a huge fan of Mizuno irons, I'm surprised you didn't include the ST200G which feels awesome, looks amazing and sounds great. I have one with the Tensei Blue 70g X .... LOVE it!
Could you retest them all using just the Diamana shaft from the SIM? It would be great to know if it's just a longer/lighter shaft making the difference.
I'm sure every driver has different sweat spots and depending on where you hit it will suit diferent players, I hardly ever hit my callaway rogue where its flying off face but even when it feels hard its still reasonable distance but diferent days it's soft and fast off face and also it feels different if I hit up or down on ball
Favourite bit for me was when Pete crushed a dead straight 300 yard drive with the Cobra and just reacted with “Nah” 😂 If I ever hit a shot like that, the driver will be in my bag without a moments hesitation!!
I literally just tested these same drivers yesterday! Sim won me over! Straightest and longest! Callaway was long but I couldn't hit it in the fairway!
Amazing how much he went after the TM Sim over the others.... even said I could get to 180 ball speed. Very clear his bias was TM. Not surprised head speed data wasn't included.
Currently flying an M2 that I’ve had for the last couple of years. Think it’s time to try out the SIM! That looks incredible! Like the M2 on steroids lol. Cracking video as always Pete. 💪
Interesting video production compared to your other videos. I like the on screen graphics in the studio and on the course. Very helpful. Music was a bit much especially with the drone/overhead shots leading onto the course. Still a very honest and informative video, thanks
Great video and series! I really need to get over my bias against TM. I've let my dislike of their marketing get in the way of the performance of their products. I'm in the market for a driver and will give them a chance. It's a Christmas miracle!
Pete, You say that before you put the Sim in the bag you might have to go for the full custom fit from Taylormade, surely this is an absolute must regardless of the make of Driver
gotta love how the flight tracker just isn't matching the ball at all lol 15:34 on they all slice pretty hard and the tracker is like, yup, dead straight! 😂😂
Pete, I’ve got the Sim in the exact setup and I absolutely LOVE it. It’s got a great feel and the ball just comes off the face so fast. I don’t think I’ve played a driver this good. I’m glad I gave it a shot.
With a counter balanced shaft & lighter club head, your swing weight on the Cobra would have been too low. Just an FYI, not really a fair test of it....the Sim was a much better fit for you 😊
Thank you Peter, interesting however I think that testing different drivers with different (non fitted for) shafts is totally pointless. It just shows what is by chance the best head/shaft combo for your swing among the ones tried. You can only take very partial/relative conclussions
Coustom fitting at best adds 10 yards its all about accuracy and he hit most online. I dont like "new" golf tech its all a crap shoot and at the max the pga allows anyway since 2011 maybe 2010 its all just a way to get more moeny
The difference on that Taylor made makes me want to try one. But, thanks to Corona my local golf store is closed until at least the end of March. All our courses are closed as well. Pretty cool still but, all the simulation places are closed as well.
That speedzone sounds almost exactly the same as my antique S3 MAX that, weird. Also the cobra looked so straight when you hit it. What I don't like about the cobra drivers is how the face wraps onto the top of the clubhead, iam sensetive to seeing loft and that ticks me off so much.

thought the same. Clubheadspeed would have been interesting to see
Love this series and the videos. Interesting to see what is working for you It’s interesting to see how different clubs work for the different people.
Thanks Jody, was an interesting one this, it surprised me
Awesome series and great input from yourself as always! Keep it coming mate 🤙👌👍
Currently flying an M2 that I’ve had for the last couple of years. Think it’s time to try out the SIM! That looks incredible! Like the M2 on steroids lol. Cracking video as always Pete. 💪
Excellent video! That SIM was a canon in your hands. well done!
This video makes me very pleased that I switched to a SiM driver 👏🏼😍
You may need to recalibrate your GC3! There is a delta of 25+ yards on the SIM driver. Your average carry was 280 yds on the course.
The answer is : diamana shaft might suit you the best. A comparison with the same shaft would be interesting - Rick Shield already made it I guess ?
I loved everything about the SIM I just couldn't get the distance or accuracy I needed. I ended up getting the Mavrik and hit it really well
Dispersion on sim is terrible for alot of people
Great video peter, and good luck for reaching one quarter million subscribers! Any day now!
Interesting video production compared to your other videos. I like the on screen graphics in the studio and on the course. Very helpful. Music was a bit much especially with the drone/overhead shots leading onto the course. Still a very honest and informative video, thanks
Great vid! But what’s your swing speed on the shots? On average..?
Great video and series! I really need to get over my bias against TM. I've let my dislike of their marketing get in the way of the performance of their products. I'm in the market for a driver and will give them a chance. It's a Christmas miracle!
Obviously swinging the SIM harder, we’re not completely lost. 10 MPH ball speed difference is unlikely when the rest are super close.
Lord have mercy! That SIM is a beast. Would love to see if you can optimize it even more through a custom fitting. Either way it was the clean winner.
wow ive seen alot of these driver tests and i think it comes to the swing cuz ive seen callaway beat the taylormade alot
Yup. This test was faked.
Pete, I’ve got the Sim in the exact setup and I absolutely LOVE it. It’s got a great feel and the ball just comes off the face so fast. I don’t think I’ve played a driver this good. I’m glad I gave it a shot.
For me i wish the driver head would be blackout coloured. Maybe a special edition Sim driver like taylormade used to do.
Where was the ping 410?
Have been waiting on this vid for ages dont let me down!!!
With a counter balanced shaft & lighter club head, your swing weight on the Cobra would have been too low. Just an FYI, not really a fair test of it....the Sim was a much better fit for you 😊
He's faked this test coz he's sponsored by Taylormade.
Hence no club head speed data shown.
@@lavrentievv He's not sponsored by them anymore
@@ryanhorner1675 Dude, the test is beyond faked. Don't be gullible. CoRs are all 0.83 on those drivers.
Why not try the G410 since the wood worked out so well?
Thank you Peter, interesting however I think that testing different drivers with different (non fitted for) shafts is totally pointless. It just shows what is by chance the best head/shaft combo for your swing among the ones tried. You can only take very partial/relative conclussions
Coustom fitting at best adds 10 yards its all about accuracy and he hit most online. I dont like "new" golf tech its all a crap shoot and at the max the pga allows anyway since 2011 maybe 2010 its all just a way to get more moeny
I'd like to see a driver test where you test 4 or 5 of the same head from the same company and we can then see manufacturing tolerances in action
The difference on that Taylor made makes me want to try one. But, thanks to Corona my local golf store is closed until at least the end of March. All our courses are closed as well. Pretty cool still but, all the simulation places are closed as well.
What is the orange tape stuff ?
That speedzone sounds almost exactly the same as my antique S3 MAX that, weird. Also the cobra looked so straight when you hit it. What I don't like about the cobra drivers is how the face wraps onto the top of the clubhead, iam sensetive to seeing loft and that ticks me off so much.
Peter I have the Maverick Sub-Zero with the T 1100 handcrafted shaft 63 gram low spin and it is a beast
Have the Cobra F9 SB driver & #5 wood. Hybrid next. Love them both.
1. The simulation hits were flawless. Lol!
2. That course was ate up(slang for bad)
3. Those shots on the course were ate up as well. 😥
