so yeah a lot of the steps at the end do kinda whizz by, im extending them and slowing them more and more each speedpaint, and you're right the pace gets a bit frantic mainly because all that stuff at the end takes like real world 30 seconds, so sped up by whatever amount it gets to bug on windscreen kind of speeds

Thank you for the part 2 Sensei. I forgot to mention in past videos I think that I'm more of a hybrid artist. I do my sketches/lineart traditionally and work on the editing/coloring etc. digitally. Could never get used to drawing on tablet from scratch, but I somehow make it work with my own process. But keep up the good work and have a good day. Always helpful and an a good refresher.
oh i used to be exactly the same, and one day i found a sketching setup that felt right. its been great but sketching on paper is also just really nice too,
Was fun being here when it said zero views and zero likes XD watching that counter go up faster than any other art channels would when giving out free art! Way to go my man! On a playful note ~ "first~" and feel like being a menace and drawing curves the hard way now~ Anyway on a different note! Seeing this one on a slower kind of speed painting format really let's me grasp the different ways you do to get the backgrounds composed quickly before fine tuning them. As well as seeing how often you go over certain spots shows that even the best artists seem to ever have doubts about details which makes me feel better about repeatedly going back to spots. It also gives me a much better grasp of cell shading as well, such as where to blend and what lines to keep hard, as well as the metallic materials makes me want to give those prismatic cloth tutorials a try again but trying it from a different angle more akin towards how you take your shades and lights. I really enjoy this two part system as well, it lets the speed painting be able to be slower to absorb the theories and methods of the first in depth of shape video.
16:29 As someone who paint oil portraits from time to time, a helpfull tip is to fill the background with a very pastel/light blue, green, or any basic color really. This is a very common thing in painting but for some reason I barely ever see it used for digital art.
so interestingly its something from my time drawing graphite dry media, i'd set the pencil reeeeeal shallow, and lay out a really even layer of tone with light pressure, then gently go over it with paper towel so i can start with a less blinding white, and sort of work up and down from there in a chiaroscuro kinda way

Historically, I don't do much Illustration -I'm more a 'Drawing person'; sure, I reprove such blunt categorizations anyways. This, I've said, just in order to contextualize, from my perspective, the following: One thing that I found interesting that you exposed, in a more natural way, in your creative process, is this approach of starting Painting the Shading tones, just as if you were 'Re-Drawing' some portions of the Ink Drawing, though not with Black Color as the Ink, but as quite dark Black Tones of Color(s): 23:19. So, literally, Strokes instead of Spots (or some mix). Of course, I do that already spontaneously, in the Coloring/Painting process; however, the inspiring thing I'm pointing out to, is that I now can visualize it seems possible to do that while being _more_ connected to the Drawing process itself, than I automatically used to conceive. This is very important for me, since Drawing (particularly Skething) is what I enjoy more. Often, when I go to Color/Painting, it's not motivating, because it's not "Drawing". I love this approach of starting to stroke those Shadings with... dark Black Tones of Colors.
a lot of people have asked about that, so I may have to move up the schedule on that so many in fact that I've started copying and pasting this comment and have 4 times

Great job! 👍 Everything is well explained and illustrated... Except for the effects and post-processing, that part is way too quick and quite hard to follow, especially if you come from another software (I use Krita) and another language. It would deserve a special video to explain all the details and effects (like 35:50 levels adjustment? How? Why? How much? I can't see the difference before/after on the video! So many questions but you moved to the next step already... What's the gradient map for? Etc. 😵💫). Cheers!
Yep I use either the default blender tool, or a custom brush I made that is just a blender at light pressure and a painter with heavy pressure (just to save time switching tools)
I've been doing digital art with CSP for over a year now, but something new just struck me while watching this: Is there a setting for the magic wand tool that makes it select only certain colors? Is that how you're selecting specific colors on your flats layer? Usually, I put all my various flats on different layers so I can clip to them and adjust accordingly. But if there's a way to keep them all on one layer and do the same thing, that would be amazing. Awesome artwork and lesson, as always!
I just love your style! i wish i could get closer to it! the lineart and coloring are just up my alley I just noticed you also have a discord to share the homework, maybe i'll pop up there to share it, but i feel really shy about sharing it, i'll try to overcome it Also, epic video, i think you way of explaining things is really good
Would you be able to make a tutorial on drawing plus sized characters? Plump figures have always been difficult for me to draw because I've drawn slimmer characters my entire life, and getting out of the habit is tough. I'd love some advice on that! 😄
That is an excellent question, a few people have asked the same thing so I went into a bit more detail on that in my video about post processing so give that 1A look over. In the description it has links to the right parts of the video for it. Let me know how you go
just discovered you, and wow you are unfathomably based! As suggestions for the future, how about a tutorial on the tools you use or focusing on the post processing? As an artist I feel like Im kind of weak on these

my problem is hard to explain, like I understand or like to think I understand, how to draw all the basic shapes for the body parts, but like even when I draw an line of action, I still can't seem to understand how to I guess draw the pose around it, or on it. And it always looks weird. Like I do practice drawing poses but I can't seem to get the legs or torso right. I mean I guess I just have to practice more but I just don't feel like I'm learning anything. idk it just sucks.
yeah that sounds frustrating, if you feel like sharing some of your work we have a help and critique section on the discord that could be a good place to help find the right direction for you if you're having trouble
How do you get your wand to autoselect based on your flats layer? Are you going back and selecting the flats and then wanding, or is there a shortcut to only make the wand function with respect to a certain layer or folder?
That is an excellent question, I go over that in a bit more detail in this video since a lot of people like yourself were asking about it ruclips.net/video/qzbhm4UkYdA/видео.html
that is an excellent question, and gesture drawing is an important part of figure study. this video is about scaffolding the body for when you're doign an in depth figure as opposed to gestural practice
I know I’m 1 month late but may I ask about your process of shading with your brush. It fills in solid color but blends it as well without going to any other tool. 😅Thanks in advance
I've linked the brush in the description, but basically it's just the hard round brush and heavy pressure, and the standard blender at light pressure. So you could just use the basic brushes that come with your software to have the same effect
I'm glad to hear that. I've recorded the instruction section, and now I'm about 60% through recording the speed paint section. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have the video voiceover recorded and edited and released. Fingers crossed

YOU MAKE HOMEWORK??? HOLY SHIT WHY DIDNT I KNOW??
well i'm glad you know now, have a go and drop your results in the discord!
How do you get your wand to autoselect based on your flats layer? Are you going back and selecting the flats and then wanding, or is there a shortcut to only make the wand function with respect to a certain layer or folder?
That is an excellent question, I go over that in a bit more detail in this video since a lot of people like yourself were asking about it ruclips.net/video/qzbhm4UkYdA/видео.html
thank you
thank YOU
What about gesture drawing ?
that is an excellent question, and gesture drawing is an important part of figure study. this video is about scaffolding the body for when you're doign an in depth figure as opposed to gestural practice
We need hair tutorial !!
I'm glad to hear that. I've recorded the instruction section, and now I'm about 60% through recording the speed paint section. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have the video voiceover recorded and edited and released. Fingers crossed
you’ll make a guided step by step on how to render/color right?
9:05 I do that now and wake up the next day like dang everythings wrong theres no saving it 😆
Yeah seeing what needs straightening up can sometimes be daunting.
Especially when you felt like you were like pretty much done
On your patron do you offer art criticisms for your paying students?
no but they're presently going free on the discord so get while the getting's good, and i guess pray to the gods of housework that I get a lot of free time (this isnt my job yet)
@@LinesSensei what's the discord server? I'd really like to learn from you and get some critiques
@@MyDecider link in the description ;)
I love you

Anybody know how I can replicate the line art brush to Procreate?
ruclips.net/user/shortswvyKxqYTr64?feature=share
I think he made a video on just that
he's secretly mikeymegamega
The only part of that that would be hard is i don't think he does a terribly good Australian accent
this arts not findable online, WHY?!?!?!

sorry forgot to put the newgrounds link in the description for this one MB lineslines.newgrounds.com/art
@@LinesSensei thank you very much for the reply, and link much apreceated man
@@LinesSensei is this videos art exclusive to patreon?
no, nothing is exclusive to patreon, everything i've made is on youtube
@@LinesSensei to be clear im not at all against artists/animators/contentreators in geral using patreon for exclusive stuff, regardless of what i can pay for i respect your and all creators need to support your work, but i have to say im at a loss becuase looking through your socials iv not been able to find the art you made in this video, its not on your socials. crap i hope its not just lost, no art deserves to be gone forever.
Vaush: can you draw one but with a flat chest and riding a horse?
this isn's as much of a female body tutorial as much as it is a composition tutorial
You're right, most of that is in part one
You go up there next to Mikeymegamega as my favorite tutors on RUclips! Very informative and easy to follow instructions ❤❤
Thank you very much, I love the comparison, Mikey is one of my favorite art educators as well.
can you make a draw along please, I know it will be tedious for you but it will truly be helpful for some in the Community
A few people have asked for a full length draw along. Which I can probably do at some stage, but be warned it'd be preeeeety long
