hello are you planning on doign guide that will show how to utilize tools ? For instance i couldnt replicate that shade at 15:35 there are many places where id like to put soft shadows that define some detail but they always are too sharp, tutorials say "use smudge tool" but if i use smudge tool it starts looking like a mess.

Could the chapter at 5:46 be expanded on in a little more detail? If not, that’s okay. I didn’t really understand all the lines marks. I keep trying to follow along in procreate but I’m missing the meaning and its positional relation to what part it represents (like top/bottom/middle of eye should be at this line and end at this line, etc for all face parts &line relations). Or if anyone in the comments knows. I’m having so much trouble just understanding it.

I've been trying to use this approach, I think I'm gradually getting better but the part that confused me the most is the jaw/chin/cheek/eye line Also one thing I've been doing that isn't done here is draw brief lines for each major part of the eyes (top, bottom, eye brows, etc) to help line them up

7:00 he first says the ears line up to the mouth, but later on he consistently says it lines up with the nose, little confusing!

I just have to say, even though your anatomy is top notch and a person could learn a wealth of information from you just on that alone, that background method you used was phenomenal. I do a very similar technique with backgrounds these days because it’s a great way to look like you have a super detailed background without actually putting much time into it. A lot of artists can learn from that, because I think most of us were guilty of drawing our characters on totally plain backgrounds at some point lol

I seriously HATE to be that guy, but I saw your first drawings in the beginning of the video, and they looked so good even though they weren't shaded, but mine look like crap when I finish the linework and get rid of the rough layer. It probably has nothing to do with the brush its probably all skill, but I like how soft your blineart looks. Mine always looks so....stale? I don't know. I use the G-pen. I'm just wondering. (I can't believe I'm saying this) WHAT KIND OF BRUSH DO YOU USE?!?!

at 32:06 would it have been better to use the light pink for the white clouds to match the dress or is it purposeful use of light blue to contrast the white of the clouds from the white of the dress? I could see a composition where the sky was a pink monochromatic palette at that point

When you say "Smoothing" for things like the Lasso Tool, do you mean Stabilization? Or is it a different thing I am not aware of?

Why do you shade the sketch before the lineart? Just curious!

imo select color gamut is faster and will select everything that is the same color at once. you can also use it to recolor your multiply shadows fast as heck pressing ctrl+u. learned this from thestarfishface's tutorial on CSP. I didn't realize you could also cel shade using the bucket tool in CSP too. SO now it takes me 1/5th the time to color and shade.

Hii there! It’s me again! Great job as usual! I’m getting so much help from these videos! I was kinda wondering if that’s alright if you could make a video on how to be able to draw any character proportions (like any art-style) using reference. Because I am still struggling on that! But if you can thanks!😅😁

Shading is where I feel like my drawings really come alive. This here is just some simpler stuff I learned over the years in case it could help someone. (I work in CS6) Doing web comics I use a basic shading format so I can keep a production flow and quality across pages. For me I shade in a dark blue and use one layer set to 30% for the cast shadow (blocking area) and another layer set to 50% for the ambient shadow (detail shadow) I then do some layer settings like this. Multiply 30% (copy) Overlay 30% (original) Overlay 50% This lets shadows look dark with the multiply for the bulk work and help deepen a colors in the overlay parts. Like I said up top simple easy repeatable if you have a lot to do over many many pages. NOT GOOD FOR ILLUSTRATIONS!

One sequel I would love to see someday is frill, lace, ruffles and bows from a lot of the current styles in Japan like Jirai Kei and Goth Lolita Kei. I always become overwhelmed by them when trying to sketch such numerous, voluminous, intricately detailed things like this. But I love some of the art of it that exists!
