I'm a prime example of the target market. I wear the dbc32 every day. I work in a surgical unit and the calculator, alarms, and military time are wonderful but the databank is worth its weight in gold. I can't tell you how many times we have scrambled for the numbers of specific doctors, extensions for other units, numbers for OR room phones ect ... I have all that on my wrist now. Every anesthesia provider, every emergency extension number like respiratory therapy or cardiology, and the doctors I work with the most. Plus the main screen format is wonderful when charting. I have the year/month/day and date. This is helpful when charting because you could review charts from months or years ago and honestly some days I'm so tired that it helps to know 100% I'm putting the right month and year on my scanned charts 😂. So all in all it's the perfect watch for me. I got the black model and threw on an after market black stainless bracelet and I'm rocking. Also it's proved to be as waterproof as I will ever need. I've swam, showered and washed my hands daily without issue.

In the 80`s people used eraser topped pencils, the buttons were pushed with pencil erasers on top of the pencil. Thats why everyone complains and small buttons. I did it in the 80s.

Yeah, I just bought CA53W and have watched a number of reviews of these watches. So far, none of the reviewers have discovered the fact that the buttons can be pressed with something other than their fingers.

My Casio f-91w helped me a lot when I drove a truck for work. I couldn't be bothered to screw with the time on the shitty truck stereo and I couldn't use my phone while driving so my Casio came in handy a lot of times.

I was a teenager in the 1980's. I thought that the Calculator Watch was the coolest thing! I bought an alternative brand other than Casio, at the time. Now at age 50, I purchased a Casio Databank Watch last year. Problem is, it looks cool and has lots of features, but my eyes can't focus on the teeny numbers on the buttons! Even with my glasses on😎

The CA-56, like the CA-53 doesn't have a backlight. I love my CA-53 but want something with a decent backlight, and as much as I love the classic lines of the DBC-611, the individual buttons and strong backlight of the DBC-32 make it hard to resist.

  • @Moonstalker

I think these are still useful because if you need a code and since they are very reliable, you can.
Sure for the actual telememo it's limited and not great, but for storing codes of something that does a great job at it.
This is too bad that they stopped to make these because really these are quite wanted even in 2022.
I own 3 calc watches and I have 2 of the ones you have and a CA - 506 which I do like even if it functions exactly the same as the CA 53W
I actually wish casio do remade some other models or even better create a new one with all the functions that were established with the old stuff or even do a graphing calc watch.
I don't know what people think but I will be their first client for sure :)

The CA53W-1, (Mine the CA53W) very classy watch, I've had mine for over 26 years and only changed the battery once 5 years ago! And Yes, you are right, this watch can't be exposed to water. I had my first one, exposed it to water many times until the calculator keyboard started falling apart. Then I decided to get my second one, never exposed it to water and it still looks great and works like a charm!

The best watch ever, was the *DBX-100* (very similar to DBC611-1), but with full *dot matrix display* (aprox 1988-1992). But this watch had a "bug", a weak point.. and this is the reason, as i believe, why CASIO never attempted to built such a great watch again. I still have it.. it wasn't "dead" but it's keys melted and this is the reason why i abandoned it.

Lange & Sohne (not jewelry like rolex etc.), he's got a good little collection going of Japanese watches. Casio, Citizen, Seiko etc. He has to pay for them himself and he's only 13. The silver stainless band is DBC32-1ADF and the Black resin one is DBC-32-1AES. Basically the same watch, since I have both. Both has no water resistance ever mentioned on any official casio records, but I've been through heavy rain with the resin one and it survived (its under my jacket's sleeve). But after replacing the battery, it does have the rubber seal and all. if you considering one, I would suggest get the resin one. Its black plastic, no paint to scratch off. If the band fails, its 22mm lug, I put mine on a nato strap and doesn't look odd.

The bracelets can take quite big wrists, I think. I have slim wrists and had to remove 5 links from my Casio DBC-32D-1 bracelet. Of course the watches are pretty small and the calculator buttons are tiny, so if you have big fingers, it might be a bit tricky to use the buttons, although you have to press them with your finger nail anyway, even if you have smaller fingers.

With Casio watches that come with metal bracelets, the bracelets can be replaced with standard ones. With Casio watches that come with rubber straps only some of them can be replaced with standard ones.
Resin/rubber straps are the weak link in any brand of watches. They crack and break within long before the first battery dies, and the proprietary straps cost +$10. I stopped buying watches that won't take a standard bracelet/strap without looking mis-matched. I think folded link bracelets of any design fit poorly and are uncomfortable; I prefer high quality stainless expansion bracelets.
Personally as a calculator I prefer the CA56 series best. I have had a series of databank watches, but frankly, the data feature is questionable since EVERY cellphone I've ever had has had a better data feature. I don't care about battery life as I can replace any watch battery in 5 minutes. Water resistance is important to me; 3bar/ATM models aren't sweat resistant.
What I now wear daily are Casio ana-digi alarm watches, most (effectively) non-illuminated, with 50M-100M ratings and standard design straps. When their original straps/bracelets fail, they get $4 silicone straps made for smart watches or one of my 30-year-old Spiedel Twist-o-flex bracelets.,

No it's not...lol. Your speakers must be absurdly loud. Turn them down.

@@maverickwatchreviews Nothing else is loud except your intro. This is constructive criticism. Head phone users especially will appreciate if you dialed down the intro a little.
