There is a fundamental difference to be understood between American and European punters. In America, there are two types of people who go out to a game. does stupid dances. In Europe, especially the ultras are looking for the tribal spirit. We belong to a tribe, our team is our champions, and the opponent is actually an enemy that must be defeated. In Europe it's been a long time since it taken a form of hooliganism, even fascism ('we all as one' true sense of word fascism). These games in Europe - 20 years ago, people were murdering opposite teams fans. In Serbia one bum put a lit totch into the policemen's mouth, the cop barely survived, scarred for life. The fan was prosecuted but there are graffitis on buildings in urban areas saying stupid stuff like "justice for Uros (the name of the bum)". It's a gang subculture. Similar stuff happened in other European countries, stabbings, massive fights after the match, led by fan groups (gangs) etc.. USA games are family safe. In Europe, nowadays it gets there, but still gets hectic. What you see are relicts of these dangerous times. Indeed it was i tended to intimidate the visiting team or simply the other team (if fans were from the same city like Partizan and Red Star in Belgrade) or Olympiakos and Panathenaikos in Athens, etc...bloody rivalries.

As you can see two of the three examples from Europe were the same fans/team from Greece, where the Ultras are insane anyway. It' ain't like that all over Europe, especially not for basketball. Whoever made that comparison was probably European, maybe even from Greece, and picked those examples to prove his point.
it's not like that everywhere in basketball in Europe because it's not really a very popular sport but what it shows above all is that in Europe this craze exists everywhere and is not punished expulsion because you sing too loud lol. we don't go to see a match just to have fun but to support a team, we give ourselves to support them and the players reciprocate.
Sure, it’s not like that all over Europe, but prove his point he did. And let’s not forget the nba is one team for an entire state, here it’s for a city or even a part of a city, we (in Europe) have many many more teams, we have several divisions in each country. Imagine if we only had 1 team for each country, it would be even more insane. You just can’t compare. Lastly, I wonder how often fans go support their team in the USA and how often fans go support theirs in Europe. In the USA it’s a family trip, probably once a year they go, in Europe it’s game-day and you go with your friends. Not saying there are no families, but majority aren’t with family and will be there again in 2 weeks and (maybe) follow the team on out-games. You have less of neutral fans in Europe, in the USA you go watch a game, you don’t go support a team, let alone a state or city.
You are not allowed to bring in "flares" into the stadiums in Europe. Just as you are not allowed to do that in the USA. The fans are the difference, not the rules.
God...that woman iin the frst clip! Why is it that whenever someone says "I don't eat meat", they have the kind of piercing voice that you can hear over a crowd of thousands, and they're screeching it somewhere where it's not remotely relevant? Hi can you ract to we were revolutionaries by copa 90
Is a video about ultras fans of inter an italian team and tell what ultras are and what they do
Difference is in USA it's like you came on concert, good atmosfere but like yeee goo .... whatever team, but in Europe you get it, it's not a concert it's more sirius thing where passion for clubs run deep, we live and die with our clubs, my father and grandfather were for my hometown team and I am, and my son will be, it's not something that you choose you are born into it.
See the difference between sport and supporters vs entertainment and fans ?
The music to your national anthem is from an English drinking song, you have sport$$$$$ and we have passion!
More countries than greece though. The whole balkan, turkey, Israel and more..
in america it's all about making money. anything you can see was just built to make profit. in europe things were made by passion
in europe its a lifestyle in usa its more about money
I played in Serbia, brother 😂😂😂
11:10 - Red Star Belgrade fans
You are not allowed to bring in "flares" into the stadiums in Europe. Just as you are not allowed to do that in the USA. The fans are the difference, not the rules.
We Europeans are just on an other level
God...that woman iin the frst clip! Why is it that whenever someone says "I don't eat meat", they have the kind of piercing voice that you can hear over a crowd of thousands, and they're screeching it somewhere where it's not remotely relevant? Normal people are not talking about ther diet at a basketball game.
Ultras support their whole club. If the club is in more sports then one. They will support their other times like basketball/handball too
greetings from germany
Which language does this guy speak...?
In Europe we go to games to see our team play and win. Americans go to watch a show. Passion is the difference
Salut, tu ne peux pas imaginer la puissance des supporters, même au jeu de fléchettes c'est le feu!!!
Pour réconcilier, j'ai une vidéo des meilleurs amis américains

This is ARIS club. The best of the best.
ARIS SALONICO
As a German every time i see americans singing the National Anthem on every fckng event i have to smirk xd
3:36 Firstly, it is called the national anthem and not a song
and secondly, the Germans and England have a very good national anthem, but the Soviet Union probably has the best
do you think he's crazy? Well, you have to see how they cheer in hockey or football in Europe and how they do in the USA 😄
That tune Sandstrom is from Finland which plays in NBA and in NHL games. Those leagues don't pay anything for that. You make billions and steal those tiny bucks from our dudes. Pay the bucks to Darude. :D
mate, you are ridiculous fans there, you don't know how to support a team, you still have a lot to learn...
For me 10:15
Aris Thessalonike 🇬🇷 from Greece
The best fans👍
In Balkans is your family your religion and your team!!!
This is one of reasons why Jokic, oncic, Antetokounpo take over NBA. Passion.
"we're gonna break the leg, break the leg"
i will say to my kids there was a time that nba was sports; better watch pepa the pig now. the fans are alike
Relegation makes it more passionate
You talk to much....I would love to hear what they saying but it is Impossible....can't watch till the end
