Certainly, here's a more detailed summary in English: South Africa's last white president has issued posthumous apologies for the sufferings caused by apartheid. This statement comes in a complex historical context as South Africa grapples with its past marked by systematic racial discrimination. The president acknowledges the harm caused by apartheid policies that were in place for decades, separating communities and perpetuating blatant injustices. Apartheid, an institutionalized system of racial segregation, was abolished in the 1990s with the advent of democracy in South Africa. However, the deep scars left by this period still persist today. The posthumous apologies from the last white president emphasize the need for national reconciliation and mutual understanding among different South African communities. Although coming from a political figure of the past, this gesture is considered by many as an important step towards healing the divisions inherited from apartheid. It also sparks discussions on collective and individual responsibility in building a united and egalitarian South African nation. Ultimately, these posthumous apologies serve as a starting point for profound reflection on the path toward a more inclusive and equitable South African society.
Fact is if you forgive but don't forget, you did not forgive. Hatred will destroy you and your family. Forgive, forget and experience the freedom and peace it provides and move on.

An apology heals, thank you Sir. May he rest in peace!
How many souls are roaming the sky without resting in peace because of your heartless. Spirits are starting to haunt you.
I am not deceived. Where was his apology and love for Constitution when hundreds of children were murdered in Soweto during peaceful protests? Had Frederik Willem de Klerk been a tiny fragment of a decent and moral leader there should have been no need for this apology. Godspeed, South Africa. 💞
Never forgive and never forget. There has been no justice. This injustice is the reason today we are still disrespected in our own country.

One of the greatest leaders of all time, he would have come under significant resistance from within his own party at the period of transition and yet he delivered, it is only a shame that Mandela and the ANC failed to deliver a prosperous nation and economy for everyone over the next 20 years. Today SA is a third world country like the rest of the African continent. A waste of nation and resource left to work out what it really wants to stand for..
It will never have it no matter which political party 🙄takes over. You’re seeing this place as a functioning Western nation when in fact it’s a country run by cargo cultists. Wearing a suit and driving a bummer doesn’t make you an economist or an engineer.
It was always been a third world country for the majority of the population

Reminds me of Kevin Rudd's apology to the indigenous folk on behalf of the british. We may not be able to change the past, but at least we can change the future to be better. Dang these comments are pretty bad.
De Klerk was a G. He worked with Mandela to dismantle apartheid. As a white, that’s huge.

Got nothing to be sorry for
Your apology means nothing. It lacks empathyYour apology feels hollow and insincere. It fails to acknowledge the impact of your actions. True remorse involves understanding the pain you've caused. Without that understanding, your words ring empty. I need more than just an apology; I need to see genuine change.
Apology accepted
No this demon doesn't feel bad
This takes lots of courage and means alot. Thank you de Klerk thank you.
If he really felt this sorry, he should have done something tangible like redistribute the land his white people were already at odds with him. He could have given Mandela a proper deal that ALL South Africans can benefit from and not this rainbow colour promise only. Who still owns the country?
There’s still apartheid, bud. It’s reversed now.
