The machine pistol has the walls to protect the back-post part of the ironsights, but it doesn't even have an actual back post. Always interesting to see fictional guns, I love it.
It's the same model used in Deus Ex HR, in that game there is a rear aperture sight in-between the two protection ears. My guess is they removed it to give a clearer field of view when aiming down sight. That's a common thing in video games. Fallout New Vegas did that with the Thompson SMG which didn't have the rear sight so the front sight just kind of floated in the middle of the rear protection ears when aiming
There's just something undeniably 'sexy' about the guns in DX:MD. Especially when you got those graphics cranked up in 1440p. They nailed it on the sound effects, too.

This game is free now on Epic Store. I'm not sure this game is bad like everyone say but it's such an underrated af like Sleeping Dogs. Unfortunately, we probably won't see a sequel of Deus Ex after Eidos has been laid off many employees.
actually i can get your hopes up. there was an interview with the ceo of eidos montreal who mentioned that there was another deus ex in develelopment. however i must tell you that its in the absolute earliest stage of development, meaning no code has been written and right now they are just figuring out in what direction the story will be going towards
I find it's Human Revolution lacking it's soul/polish. That and there's a lot of animation bugs in this game/audio issues in my experience. It's not bad,but Act 3 definately feels like it got left on the cutting room floor as sequel bait that we won't get.
The grenade launcher is not animated well jeez the charging handle moves at like 1 fps and the rounds in the magazine don't reflect your ammo count like in human revolution
Im sure the machine pistol fit the smg role. Yeah, there are indeed less gun than the previous installment, no laser rifle, Mg, Pulse cannon, RPG, etc. which some player consider the combat is a downgrade

What's with the grenade launcher animations? They seem a bit jarring and buggy. Like it's an un-polished beta weapon
