Bro this is my dream to have one of these in our next gym 😍
It’s a nice piece of equipment! You will have it one day!💪🏼
Another piece of equipment I wish I had room for. Nice review Rylan!
Thanks Marcus!
Great Review! Great Info! I bought it a couple weeks ago. It arrived in two weeks. Have my gym flooring going in this week and then will figure out the best place for it and get it put together.
hell ya!! enjoy
Great review, this is the best review I have watched about this product 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic review!
hey thanks! trying to give my unbiased opinion on the equipment! cheers
I’m loving every single piece of equipment I’ve gotten from REP so far and i cannot wait to get this next year! Still have to tell the Mrs. I’m gonna be spending $2500 more dollars on our gym but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it 😬😬😬
I agree. REP's equipment has impressed me so much I started this channel! Enjoy your new equipment. cheers:)
@@MacStrengthCo very impressive stuff man. Quality for a damn good price. Can’t go wrong! Train hard train smart and have fun! - Matt Wilpers.
Great video! Subscribed
thanks! appreciate it.
I got the powertec function trainer deluxe 2.0 as it has the weight arms and the plate stack. That allows me to put 500lbs on each side but more importantly make micro adjustments when 10lbs is too much.
Sounds awesome! I’ll have to look it up.🤙🏼
Ok so whats the point of adding so much weigjt on ft if it can't be used as a latpulldown machine since they are shorter and also there is no way to attach anything to hold yourself down? I been looking for ever for a functio al trainer that doubles up as a lat pull down machine but no luck. So I will be buying a titan weigjt stack lat pull down machine and a separate ft
Great review my friend. I like Rep Fitness but I really like having the smith machine option on my Inspire FT2. That's something Rep should look into incorporating into their functional trainers. Keep the reviews coming!
That’s a great idea! I’ve seen those machines and they look interesting. Thanks for watching!🤙🏼
I love your reviews. Can you post a link or tell us where you got the rolling accessory rack that fits perfectly in the middle of the FT-5000? Its amazing.
That is a one off custom piece unfortunately. It was a display rack from a retail store. Just got lucky.🍀
Great review. I understand each stack is a 2:1 ratio. Using one stack what would be the first plate pull? minimum effective pull weight. I'm looking for 5-7lb range for rehab use
The lowest stack (one plate) is 12lbs at the handle.
The price point is great, guessing since they sell direct and don’t need to pay distributors. Has this machine continued to keep up with continued use? Is it relatively as smooth operationally as more well known commercial brands in big gyms. Are the guide rods hollow or solid? Thx for a solid review!
The machine has been great so far no issues. It's well built and very smooth comparable to any commercial machine I've used. The guide rods are solid and seem to work well. For the price shipped it's better than the used market or cheaper models like the costco one in my opinion. It's one piece of equipment I have no regrets buying. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
Thanks for posting this review! We are looking at getting one for our home gym. Two questions for you though: 1) Do you feel that the maximum weight per each stack is enough (without the attachment pin you talked about) and 2) You mentioned once you built it, it's not going anywhere. If we decide to move in a handful of years, what would be the possibility of moving it to a new location? (So a one-and-done type move).
Thank you again!
Great questions. Here's my training situation. Hybrid/strength regime. 50% Cardio. I only deadlift 500lbs+, Bench 315 lbs and squatting in the low 400s. Not once have I felt I needed more weight and that was the main reason to buy the 5000 over the lighter 3000 model.
I more meant once you set it up. It's not something you can easily slide over a foot to match the mirror better. When you build it just make sure it's in position. Moving from house to house would be no problem. Just some disassembly. Hope that helps answer your questions!
@@MacStrengthCo Sure does! You lift more than I do so this should work out great. Thanks again!
Any chance you can let us know where you bought that storage system for dumbbells behind you? Also, I love your content. Keep it up! It's much appreciated.
Check out my video. Again Faster Equipment Storage Rack Review | GARAGE GYM REVIEW! I cover that storage rack in detail. Cheers!👍🏻
@@MacStrengthCo Thank you!
Can you tell us about your company who built your garage ,plans ,time to build ,ideas, electric and platform. Length and width.? It would be a great video ..
I built most of it and designed it. Took me about 2 yrs. That video has been in the works for awile!
Great review. Where did you get the pegboard storage rack shown in the video?
it was custom made.
Honestly, I can't wait for Rep Fitness to expand to EU, while Rogue and other companies are ok, I truly feel that with Rep-Fitness' designs and ideas/decisions.. they just take their things to a next level. A good example is their GHD, which has the guiding rods & more padding in the curve towards where your knees would be... that might seem like two smaller things comparing it side-by-side with e.g. Rogues GHD, but in fact.. those two decisions are the exact reason, I'd get that over any other GHD machine.
Their GHD is awesome. I have a full review on it! cheers, Rylan
Nice review. Was just looking at this. Question, what lat pulldown do you have? Would you recommend? Thanks.
I have the titan lat pull down and have a review video on it. Really depends on budget and space.
If you have a power rack, Surplus Strength's UPS is a great add on for lat pulldowns.
Hi this is an awesome setup and great videos especially the Roller J-cup Reviews so much detail. I have the Ft-5000 and was wondering where you got the pegboard setup is it custom built ? Or is there somewhere you can buy it? Thanks
It was custom made that I bought from a retail store that went out of business.
@@MacStrengthCo Thank you for the response. I looked for awhile to find an alternate . No luck . I gave up and just got a couple of wall control Panels for the opposite wall.
I just ordered 10,000$ in equipment from rep and this was one of the most expensive investments for my
Garage gyms. I hope this will meet expectations
Congrats on the new gear! Still trying to wear out my Rep Equipment and it’s holding up great. 💪🏼
Besides dumbbells and a weight bench, what's the next priority for a home gym? Does this system cover a vast majority of upper body?
Great question and I need to do a video on this soon! It’s a lot to answer
Great buy !
What's your take on Force USA G 20
I'm not a huge fan of anything FORCE makes but that's just my opinion. I think it depends on your training style and fitness goals. let me know what you think if you buy one! cheers
I have this machine and one of the weight stacks feels not as smooth as the other. I suppose the bushings on the guiderods might be creating some resistance. Do you know of any solutions?
Loosen the upper pads and make sure everything is aligned properly first. Than look at cables and make they are routed the same. Lastly spray some dry silicon lube on the guide rods. Hope that helps
lat pull downs/rows/cable incline or flat benching are better on the rep ft3000 since it's not as wide. I have a small garage and the rep ft3000 is the perfect machine for my place.
Great point on the 3000. We have a dedicated lat tower machine for those movements but another great reason to get the Ft-3000 and add a Bare Steel Pin to it for more weight! thanks for the comment brotha!
Hello, just watched your review, very well done 👍🏻. I’m same height and build as you and reading the comment above that the 3000 is not as wide so certain ranges/movements are better has me second guessing the 5000. Why would being more narrow make 3000 better? Thank you
@@rememborize For cable shoulder presses it's better if the resistance cable is narrow where its closer to your shoulder width to stimulate a shoulder press with dumbbells for example. The closer the resistance cable is in line of the muscle when performing the press.
How is the 3000 for cable flys? That the only reason i want a ft for
@@bulletprooff1k cable flys on the ft 3000 is wide enough. if you got freakishly long arms then get the ft5000.
Is that a titan fitness lat pulldown? Great video btw.
Sure is! After fixing all the issues with it when I got it it’s been fine ever since.
Great video. Do you find the height of the pulleys sufficient for things such as a tricep push down / rope pull down? I was hoping to get a full range without having to kneel. I’m leaning towards this one but I was wondering if the pulley is high enough. Perhaps most FT have similar pulley heights? I’m 6’.
Great question. I'm 6.2" and I've never had an issue with range of motion honestly. We use ours nearly everyday and it's awesome you won't be disappointed.
Does ir come with the cable attachments? If so, which ones ? Thank you
Comes with the plastic handles. They work just fine.
Are you going to purchase a plate loaded leg extension/leg curl machine?
I don’t have any plans too. I find the machines take up so much space for an accessory leg movement and I’m trying to keep our floor space open. The struggle is real!😂
2:57 After watching your video in July, I pulled the trigger on this thing. I received it in August. After putting it together, I was questioning its size as I felt it somewhat small. I decided to measure the total width of it, and I'm only sitting at 58” from the top edge or bottom edge to the other and not 68” as in your video or their website. I have been going back and forth with customer service about my issues, and they're now stating their website is wrong??? Can you confirm the measurement of your pull-up bar and the back supports? It would be greatly appreciated!
The new one is smaller
@@MacStrengthCo yeah, I received mine back in August and it was never the 1.0. They sent a combination of the 1.0 and 2.0.
Thinking about selling my Rogue Monster Lite rack and getting a Rep Fitness PR 5000 with Ares as I don't have room in my home gym for a rack and a functional trainer.
I think that would be perfect. The ARES was really designed to save space and allow you to use one foot print to accomplish both. I would say go for it. Plus you would be upgrading to a 1" rack which offers more attachments etc.
@@MacStrengthCo I would have to go from a 90” rack to an 80” rack though and I am 6’2”. I have a beam at 91” that goes over the rack.
Time to notch that beam out! lol
@@MacStrengthCo The rack will fit as the side top crossmembers will go under it, but the Ares cable would go through it. It is a structural 2x4 beam. I may drill a 1/2” hole and install a 1/2” grommet for the cable to run through (two beams).
That's actually not a bad idea. There's always a work around for sure. I would have someone look at it and see if it's actually structural? I've built houses in the past and most beams are laminated 2x6s or larger and not 2x4s. You might get lucky. cheers!
I know you are an affiliate for rep fitness. Question… how does this stack up to prime fitness functional trainer. I am in the market for one.
The prime functional trainer is nearly $7000 so compared to a $2300 REP functional trainer to me they are in different price points.
I suspect influencers pushing PRIME equipment didn’t pay full price for it or got it for free.
Unless your training for MR. Olympia I can’t see anyone needing more than the REP ft-5000. We’ve used it for nearly 2 years 7 days a week and no issues.
Prime makes really nice equipment but It’s not common in home gyms so use that $4000 saved and buy more equipment unless your financially set for life. Cheers🤙🏼
Where can i get the pegboard rack?
It's custom made but I get asked so often I might just have to make some.
Also whats the difference or advantage between this one and the torque f9 which by the way I like:)
The F9 looks cheaper and not commercial quality from a quick glance. The FT 5000 is commercial quality and has lasted thru tons of training and is my favorite machine and looks badass. It weighs 1000lbs+ compared to most cheaper machines that are much lighter. The FT5000 was one thing I told myself not to cheap out on and happy I didn't. cheers!
@@MacStrengthCo yea but what's the foot print and weight stack weigjt of the f5000?
@@MacStrengthCo to be honest the ft5000 its only like $200-300 more expensive than f9 . So I'm not looking at price iam looking at functionality and space saver too. I don't know how large the ft5000 is?
@@futbol1972 Dimensions: 84"(H)x72"(W)x45"(D). Bigger is better for doing flys and anytime your using both handles in my opinion but if you don't have the space I get it. hope that helps. cheers
beautiful gym, seems huge, what area?
The whole building is 1500 sq ft but I use some of it for working on cars etc. cheers
Is this truly wide enough to do chest flys?
My older version is. The "new" updated version is narrower unfortunately.
Ok so whats the point of adding more weigjt to a functional trainer when there is no way it can double up as a lat pull down machine? There is no attachment to hold your self down, not enough weight to perform lat pull downs or rows like in a lat pull down machine and many people say they are shorter than a lat pull down machine so fully extwnsion will be a problem unless u lean back.
Also do to pulley been close to post there will be an angle when doing lat pull downs compare to the vertical movement of a true lat pull down machine...
I always recommend you buy separate machine for lat pulldown work like I have. Having said that it's not hard to max out a functional trainer and most can do it with certain movements. I can easily max this one out even with the 220lb stacks. I bought the REP ft5000 because it had the heaviest stack available at the time. The industry standard is 165lb stacks which means 82 lbs effective weight. The lighter stacks are found on nearly every older machine so for those that have those machines using a plate pin helps add more weight.
I've seen some people use devices to allow them to use their FT as a lat pulldown with things to hold their legs down etc. It's an option if your creative. Just for me I prefer 2 machines.
@@MacStrengthCo thank u
I'm 6' tall, and it just seems like this unit is not tall enough to do lat pull-downs
It’s not really designed for lat pull downs. You need to support your legs so I prefer a lat tower set up. Ive also adjusted mine to add 6” more height to it. I have a video on how to do that
@@MacStrengthCo Do you have a functional trainer you recommend for lat pulldowns?
@@MacStrengthCoAlso, could you put it on blocks to make it taller?
