@@TheEpicSingh this might seem really specific, but the anim sample is like a black box I am afraid to open: how can we make adjustments to what already exists and not break it? As an example so my question is not so abstract - I really dislike the little quickstep the character does before it starts running because it doesn't fit the natural personality of my own main char. If you had, say, a more magic or archery based char they wouldnt make such a fighter/melee motion - it pushes you out of the given reality. As an Indie I am forced to decide between using the game-changing (literally!) motion matching databases as they exist and having the anims feel odd, or stick with the older locomotion system because there is no library of assets yet to make custom DBs on an indie budget. I hope that makes sense!

Yes, the animation blueprint can definitely feel like a black box at first, but the more you experiment with the nodes, the clearer it will become. I'm in the same boat as you, learning more to understand it better. I'll be creating a guide on animation blueprints soon to help with this.Regarding the quickstep in the motion matching character, it likely stems from the walk/run start pose databases. You can try adjusting those to make the motion look more natural. I understand it can get complex, but with some tweaks, it should align better with your character's personality. Thanks for sharing your concerns!

the camera doesn't seem to move when i untick "use pawn control rotation"" , is there a way to fix this? Great video otherwise!!!

Yes, the 'Use Pawn Control Rotation' option is what controls the camera rotation. If it's disabled, the camera won't rotate as expected. Glad you enjoyed the video otherwise
