What technology? The Corvette is lighter with a good geared transmission. The Shelby is stick and makes more power but is heavy. No technology, just 2 completely different cars

Let me educate some of you vette fanboys who don't know what you're talking about. They start at 50 or 60 mph. The gt500 has stock 331 gear and he winds out 2nd, 3rd and then 4th which reaches up to 160 or better with stock 331 gearing. He let out at the end of 4th because for one they're going 160 mph and for two doing highway pulls in overdrive (5th and 6th) in a boosted car is a good way to damage shit. So no he didn't "let off because he was about to be passed" be let off because he was at the end of 4th going 160 mph. Who pulls beyond 160 in 11 second et cars? The vette was coming back at those speeds strictly because of aerodynamics. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand this. I mean 50-160 is a pretty long race if you can't come around the mustang by that time take your l and move on. It was a good race but too many know it all who don't know shit bashing the gt500 owner for "letting out".
Shoutout to the GT500 dude did good for being an older car and a manual 👍💯
That was surprising to be honest. Corvette has a decent weight advantage and would think being newer and having the right mod set up it would possibly walk the GT500. But good race GT500 held its own

Also owned both before and gotta say just depends on what your doing with the car daily or not because the Shelby is great car not very good as a daily c6 ls3 stick z51 is a completely different ball game like Shelby basically stock got me 13 mpg on a good day and my c6 gets as of rn 18.3 average mpg with long tubes and my c6 is faster I miss the supercharger wine a lot though both great cars with complete different feels ones heavy and made for drag racing and the other lightweight made for the track

How bout he let's off when he gets to the top of 4th gear which is like 150-160 mph at least. Doing 5th gear highway pulls being in boost at low load is not a good idea. He let's off at the top of 4th gear and that is 160 mph so it isn't until then that the vette was about to pass by then the race is over anyways who pulls past 160? I mean come on. You don't realize how fast they were going they start at 60 and they wound out 2nd 3rd and 4th in that Shelby so they're moving on. If course the vette is gonna edge way over 100 mph it has better aero it isn't rocket science.

Hmm, 3850 lbs (weight reduction? Don't know what the seats weigh) vs. 3400 lbs. I woulda thought the GT500 woulda kept pulling cause it's easily gotta be over 500 whp dynojet with those mods. Then again 440 whp for a I/H/E E85 LT1 is kinda low unless it was on a Mustang dyno. Convenient that the Vette owner 'forgot' the dyno he was on, lol. I'll bet he's closer to 460 whp dynojet which would fit the race results.
Super charged V8 should have not been close
@@MichaelSmith-ti6qc The old 5.4s weren't as responsive to mods as the newer motors are. But this one should have been at 525 whp give or take with those mods. The Vette is lighter and has an 8spd auto vs. 6mt, so it'll be close. Just didn't expect the stang to fall off at high speeds.

Got a vmp on my 2011 GT500 and the only race I’ve lost so far was to a whipple 10 speed mustang. Got me by a car so wasn’t too bad.. 10 speed is no joke

WELL IN MY 08 GT500 THAT HAS ROUGHLY 850HP LOL I BARRIED THE 160MPH SPEEDO IN 5TH GEAR A 373 GEAR AND I PRETTY SURE IT HAD MORE SO LOL IAM SURE MY 2 SUPER SNAKES ARE A 200MPH CARS AND HONESTLY I DONT THINK I WOULD EVER TRY IT IN MY SUPER SNAKES.

It should of been a Z06 not a base model vette!
Why? The C7 was already starting to pull away when the Mustang would let off the gas. A ZO6 would have blown the GT500 away. These were very close races until top end when you could see the Corvette pulling away.
AG is good about finding close races. C7 ZO6 wouldn’t have been a close race.

The reason he let off when he was starting to pull is because they didn't happen till 160 mph when the gt500 was at the top of 4th gear. Any dumbass knows you don't do 5th and 6th gear highway pulls in these boosted cars that is alot of stress high boost in overdrive. If you can't come around the mustang until 160 mph then you ain't winning.
