The original version of this song is one of my all-time favorites and this is a great reboot! In the mid 90s, my dad and I started making weekly lists (Top 20s) of our favorite current songs (something he used to do as a young man with his best friend in the 60s and then started up with me when I was a teenager and continued weekly for 15 years) and he would assign point values to each song based on their weekly performance in each week's chart. This song was my #1 song in 1995 and after my dad passed I found a tape recording he and I made that year where we pretended we were radio deejays and introduced our top songs of the year with this as the final song I talked about. Great song and a great memory! He and I talking about this song is the last recorded portion of that tape and the only recording I have of me and my dad. I know that may not really be related exactly to the song, but I can't hear this song without thinking of him and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

I heard the previous version of this song on SiriusXM prime country rollback countdown from 1995. It has been stuck in my head ever since. I was pre-teen in that time it topped out at #9, but actually still remembered the song when I heard it yesterday. Music from that time has surely maintained my interest in your music now although It’s been over 25 years since the song was first released. We need more like you to come back instead of the crap (country-rap) we have now.

Okay, I guess I'm the only one who didn't really dig the reboot. Your vocals sound fine here, but, everything that made the original version so incredible, with all that fabulous atmosphere and vibe to it? Got left out of the reboot. In my humble opinion. I mean, it's impossible to improve on perfection, which the original version was. Giving the acoustic guitar opening to an electric guitar? And not having it open the song?? Meh for me. And absolutely no reverb or echo in the music or the vocals? Ergo, no atmosphere or cool vibe. I wanted to love it, George, I really did. This just didn't get there for me. The live in studio versions you did with just you and another acoustic guitarist? Those versions were very nice. This version just lacked the pizazz of the original version, or even your duet versions. Sorry to be the one spoil sport. Just my two cents anyway. (I remember watching Toby Keith do a few live reboots of his huge 90s hit *Who's That Man* and those variations always missed the mark for me. Especially when he forgot the words to his own hit single.🙄 At least you didn't fall prey to that. Small favors.)

As always with George this is great, this reboot proves that a great song is timeless, if I'm honest the original will always be my favorite, rebooted I think a lot of younger fans will be hooked. Okay, I guess I'm the only one who didn't really dig the reboot.
Your vocals sound fine here, but, everything that made the original version so incredible, with all that fabulous atmosphere and vibe to it?
Got left out of the reboot.
In my humble opinion.
I mean, it's impossible to improve on perfection, which the original version was.
Giving the acoustic guitar opening to an electric guitar?
And not having it open the song??
Meh for me.
And absolutely no reverb or echo in the music or the vocals?
Ergo, no atmosphere or cool vibe.
I wanted to love it, George, I really did.
This just didn't get there for me.
The live in studio versions you did with just you and another acoustic guitarist?
Those versions were very nice.
This version just lacked the pizazz of the original version, or even your duet versions.

(I remember watching Toby Keith do a few live reboots of his huge 90s hit *Who's That Man* and those variations always missed the mark for me.
Especially when he forgot the words to his own hit single.🙄
