    Hi Olivia, I really enjoyed your video! My husband and I, along with our two kids (ages 25 and 13), are planning a ski trip in January. Our itinerary includes 1 day in Zurich, 1 day in Bern, 5 days in the Grindelwald/Lauterbrunnen area, and 3 days in Geneva. Is it cheaper to buy individual train tickets for Zurich to Bern, Bern to Grindelwald, and Grindelwald to Geneva? Or would it be better to get a Swiss Half Fare Card or a Swiss Travel Pass Flex? I saw it;s free for kid if one adult has one of the swiss pass

    I went for 7 Days in Switzerland and i payed almost 500franks for the Swiss Travel Pass i was shocked. And also they didn't told me that it didnt Cover all the Gondola Travel you still pay 50% of it. Basel though is more expensive than Luzern in Basel 1 small Cappuccino of Coffe, 1 small Scoop Ice Scream Costs 6franks . I stayed in Lauterbrunnen Hostels also Costs 100ffanks and you stayed with other People in the room

    • @Olliechinny
      @Olliechinny  Год назад +1

      I am sorry to hear that! It is true. The Swiss travel pass excludes the cost of special mountain excursions. It only entitles you to a 50% discount for most, just like the half fare card.
      The price you mentioned is typical for Swiss cities. Nevertheless, I find that it is possible to still get food for cheaper especially in supermarkets like Migros, Denner or Lidl.
      Finally, there are free activities to do like hiking and taking in the surrounding sceneries, plus visiting museums on the first Sunday of the month (they are free!) and since you had the STP, most would have been covered too.

    Ollie first of all thank you for your videos and suggestions. Panoramic trains says that you might need to book a seat which is expensive, I got confused, So, is not the same as airplanes, you don't choose a seat and system tell you a ramdom seat with no extra cost, is it the same with trains?

    • @Olliechinny
      @Olliechinny  Год назад

      Yes, you do need a seat reservation for paranomic trains like the glacier express and Bernina express, as these are special tourist trains.
      However for your regular trains from city to city, there is no need for reservation and you can sit at whichever seats that are available.

    Hello Olivia. Is Lauterbrunnen a good base area? I’m planning to go to Switzerland in September. I’m thinking to travel there for like 10-12 days. Greetings from Malaysia 😊🇲🇾

      It is a good base to go to places like Wengen, Mürren, Schilthorn etc so I think it is a great choice! You can consider booking a bespoke itinerary with me and i can plan your perfect swiss trip with local recommendations included.

    I can’t find Too good to go on App Store. Seem like it’s removed.

      You need to change your country to Switzerland or anywhere in Europe, it’s not available in SG or asian App Store

    You need to get the pass for gondola, not for museum

      Not sure what you are referring to. The Swiss Travel Pass includes access to museums and attractions including the Chillon Castle, Transport Museum, Matterhorn Museum and more.
      For gondola and cable cars, yes u still need to get the tickets, although you do get 25-50% discounts with the Swiss Travel Pass.

    Is Interlaken a good base camp?

      I don’t like Interlaken as I find it very touristy and boring.

    Hi Olivia thank you for all the tips, they're great. Do you have any affordable hotel recommendations for Wengen end of June? All the hotels seem really high priced. At the moment I've booked Hotel Restaurant Bernerhof, I want a slightly better room which doesn't burn my pocket, TIA Olivia.

      In June I would say that a very fair price for hotels per night would be between 150-180CHF. It is harder to get a “cheaper” rate, for two of the reasons I mentioned in this video: 1) you are going in June, a peak season, and 2) Wengen is also a top tourist spot!
      Have you considered staying a little more outskirt say in Thun, and going to Wengen as a daytrip? Then again it depends all on whether you prioritise time and convenience or budget.
      Good luck with your trip planning! Also, do support by liking this video and subscribing to the channel, I’d really appreciate that!

    Can anyone confirm 4000$ is enough for 10 days in Switzerland?

    • @Olliechinny
      @Olliechinny  Год назад

      Do u mean in SGD? That will be 2.3k CHF ie 230CHF per night. If you are including accommodation and transport then I think it’s a no. However if it’s just for food and discretionary spending then yes it suffices.
