    Bravo Olivia. Everything - right to the point. For whatever reason - hardly any other blogger finds it important to inform tourists that in the Swiss Retail business, and that includes Gasoline stations - there are "lights out" on weekends.

    I just came back from a short trip to Luzern, Grinderwald and Zurich. A couple of days is definitely too short to explore the beauty of this country! But my biggest mistake is not realising that my phone couldn’t roam. I had signal, but no data. I had no problem with this when I was in Italy and it was then I realised that Switzerland is not part of the EU. So a travel tip from me is to get an E-Sim (app) or a Swiss sim card in advance!

    Regarding Interlaken it is not that much that it has value itself, I think its popularity is mainly because it is used as starting base to reach the real hotspots such as Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald First, Schilthorn or Lauterbrunnen which are all really great spots (very expensive though...)

    • @Olliechinny

      It depends on everyone’s preferences. If you prefer to be more carefree and go anywhere on a whim without relying on train schedules then go for it! However, budget wise: I think a car would only be worth it if it’s for a large group of 4 and above.

    • @Olliechinny
      @Olliechinny  Год назад +2

      You can get the Eurail pass for ur train travels however buses, trams and visits to attractions and cablecar rides would not be covered under the pass. You can combine it with the half fare card to get 50% off your local transport, attractions and cable cars.

    • @Luigi-uj5ml
      @Luigi-uj5ml Год назад +2

      Eurail and Interrail passes in France and Italy make little sense. In Italy, the places available for holders of these passes are limited. Furthermore, they do not entitle you to the ultra-discounted Economy and Super Economy fares, therefore the "service change" is always calculated on the full price. For international trains at market price (for example the Eurocity from Milan Central Station to Zurich), the cost of the ticket for the foreign section not covered by the pass is half the total price of the journey, even if it is uncovered for 2 km! For example, to travel from Como to Zurich, even though I have Interrail SWITZERLAND, I will pay half even though I am only discovered for the 2 km that separate Como from Chiasso. As far as Switzerland is concerned, if you don't intend to travel 24 hours a day, perhaps the Half Price season ticket is preferable, possibly accompanied by day passes, generally also valid on postbuses, steamers, urban trams, etc., as well as on certain foreign transport companies such as, for example, the Italian SSIF (Camedo transit - Domodossola

      As a Swiss I‘d recommend bringing a warm jacket, especially if you plan to visit mountains like Pilatus, Titlis etc. But July is a great month fo come here; enjoy!

    • @Luca-fw2vu
      @Luca-fw2vu Год назад

      the weather is already quite hot at the moment (25+°C), it might get even hotter in July as it‘s one of the summer months. but it‘s right that if you go higher up, you‘ll need a jacket, ideally a light one that protects against winds as long as the sun is shining, and to be safe a pullover for underneath, just in case. other than that, July is a great month to travel, can be quite busy because of the summer holidays tho.

    Hi Olivia, I will visit Zermatt in early April and it happen to be Good Friday 😅. Do you think the shops and restaurants are open ?

    • @Olliechinny
      @Olliechinny  Год назад

      Yes, since it is a tourist destination the shops will likely still remain open. I was in Grindelwald on Easter Sunday and the restaurants were all still bustling with people!

    Using the train we had to pay 1200 CHF(week pass) instead with car, we paid 220 Euro for a week.

    • @Olliechinny
      @Olliechinny  Год назад

      U are probably a larger group of 6-7 adults and hence the car rental cost was divided and cheaper. But it wouldn’t be the casefor say a couple, or a family of 4 with children where public transport is free. With that being said, there’s always pros and cons to car or train so it depends on your travel needs :)

    Small disagreements:
    1. Interlaken is a good base for the region. Please don’t rubbish it.
    2. One mistake not mentioned. Not to read advance weather forecast before going to scenic mountain regions. There is nothing to see at Zermatt, Jungfraujoch etc in bad weather and will be waste of money.

    Don’t flush the toilet after 10pm! It is illegal. Also, a bin does not mean u can throw trash it in, there r bins for specific types of trash only and officers will actually wait and open the bins to check n fine u!!!
