  • First off, apologies for the general quality of the videos from this show for a number of reasons, 2 main ones being I was sitting in the nose bleeds so I couldn’t zoom in as I’d like, sound quality at this venue is far from ideal, especially when you’re practically rubbing your head on the roof. I was also interrupted a few times by people trying to pass through.
Enough of the excuses…the show was at Skydome (I refuse to call it by its current name) in Toronto, on Aug 2, 2024, featuring Cheap Trick (from 6-7 pm), then Journey (7:30-9 pm) and closing the show was Def Leppard (9:30-11 pm). All bands were very prompt.
Robin Zander on lead vocals for Cheap Trick was sounding a little shaky compared to their prime, which is to be expected somewhat and I’m sure the building acoustics weren’t helping. That aside, I still enjoyed their segment of the show, finishing strong with a string of hits.
Journey were up next with Arnel Pineda on lead vocals, 16 years strong now. I’m not a huge Journey fan but enjoy their big hits and found the show pretty entertaining, although a bit too laid back for my taste. Arnel was quite energetic, running around the stage and taking advantage of the full catwalk.
Now, Def Leppard are much more my speed. I’ve seen them probably a dozen times over the years, including twice with Motley Crue not long ago. They never disappoint! They were featuring their album Pyromania mainly but played tunes from all over their catalogue. Pyromania celebrates its 40 anniversary this year. Tons of hits, sounded great, very entertaining as a proper rock show should be. Hope you enjoy the collection of videos from the show!
