    This was one of the most educational Speedgolf videos ever made! Seeing what is possible with three clubs, fast transitions, some imagination and a good day putting with the wedge is really inspiring. Thanks for making this great flick!
    I’m curious how you measure time and time par for each hole. Is it the time from holing out on the previous hole to holing out on the current hole?

    • @SpeedgolfBaby
      @SpeedgolfBaby  Год назад +3

      Thank you, Sven! Rob is an incredible athlete to learn from. Unique approach to the game.
      To answer your question: We are still improving the way we measure and communicate hole time and time par. When we published this video (late 2022) 'time par' is how long it should take from the time you hole out on the previous hole to when you hole out on this hole. But 'hole time' was measured from when the golfer arrived at the tee box to when they holed out. Obviously this is confusing, so we are working to improve it. Also, you saw that time par was always in increments of 30 seconds. This does not truly reflect the expected time for an individual hole, but it adds up nicely to the course time par. With help from Chris Hundhausen, we now have software to make 'smarter' time par, which we used in the Alabama Speedgolf Open broadcast (and will in future broadcasts as well).

      @@SpeedgolfBaby Thanks, you’ve obviously put alot of thought into this. Not easy! But I agree that hole time is more interesting if we leave out the running between holes. Well done 👍

    how is it scored?
    do you win by time or by score? or is there some crazy calculation to include both factors?

    • @SpeedgolfBaby

      Nothing too crazy. Strokes + minutes = speedgolf score. Rob shot 78 in 33:44 so his speedgolf score was 111:44. Thanks for watching!

      Sure! Most speedgolf tournaments are played just over 6,000 yards. Horton Smith (this course) plays very close to that -- 6,100 yards; 4.2 mile run

    I've been watching a lot of these speedgolf videos lately and I feel that leaving the putter at home is not worth whatever few seconds the "putterless" think they are saving themselves. Every additional putt adds a minute to your score and it is much easier to two putt with a putter than it is to run even faster to make up the minute you essentially lost.

    • @SpeedgolfBaby
      @SpeedgolfBaby  3 месяца назад +1

      Great point, David. I tend to agree with you. This particular round was one of the all time great wedge putting rounds and STILL one could make the argument Rob lost 3.5 strokes compared to a standard putter

      Yes! We send a crew out after each tournament round to put sand in divots and fix ball marks on the green (though in most tournaments you're supposed to fix your ball marks as you play)

    • @SpeedgolfBaby

      We speedgolfers are comfortable looking silly as long as we get a good workout.
      Also, we usually play first thing in the morning. Most people never see how silly we look.

      @@mikebell0315 That's a really thoughtful comment, Mike. I appreciate it and mostly agree. Although I actually know a few families who bond over NASCAR (not my favorite sport by any stretch).
      If you want my serious answer to your question above. The point of speedgolf is to play the game we love, get a workout, and get back to our families.
