      It’s also impact exercise.
      That is hard on joints.
So don’t make it (or jogging) your only exercise.
The best thing you can do is rowing machine workouts, and elliptical workouts because it is low impact workouts.

I find where you just swing the rope from side to side (with both hands) difficult. Maybe it's just my rope or I'm doing something wrong because when I bring it back to jump through it gets tangled up.

I've always managed to do the footwork of the rope jump but never use the rope.
Is it really worth training for.
I'm 33 and a black belt karate player.
Retired due to back & knee injury.
Looking for a routine to re build my stamina, lose weight and try to stay in shape.

You can get a cheap one for a couple of dollars (depending on where you're from and which store). That's what Ive done, you don't need to invest a lot of money, especiaallllyyyy in the beginning. Try it and see how it goes for you

U got skillz son. Can u cross either way? Or do u always or at least favor a way? I've gotten pretty good at the criss cross, but I've realized I always do it left hand over.... I was practicing right hand over, n whippin the shit out of my legs this morning. You'd think it would be just as easy, but no.... Gotta practice that way now and get it down...

I'm gettin skilled. Gettin way better. I've discovered that it is fun to not just stay stationary in one spot, but to hop up and down a room or court. I jump rope at the gym, in my socks :-)
I like to do one legged hops two at a time n switch. Or high knees or just kinda run... It is diff and more intense if u travel down a court knawmean? Most people don't think to even do that... They just stay in the same general area... It takes some practice to do that shiz though. A little more coordination to do that shiz while also traveling across to new areas.

Hansen Noah I just practiced at school and at home and I would recommend trying to go as fast as possible so you will be able to turn the rope fast and then start adding in tricks

Not a fit guy, but i tried learning to skip rope the other day, and just 10 minutes of on and off jumping, with the rope constantly catching on my legs, made my calfs ache today. Still trying to speed up and jump for a longer period of time. I'm tensing up too much since i want to jump faster.
