Fun fact: Everyone will forget this from time to time, but Totoro never used the umbrella to fly. He used some kind of magic spinning top that he stood on top of and flew him around as he held his umbrella high. You can still fly with your umbrella tonight, I didn't wanna discourage you with my fact. 😸

Rather than bet on a song, why don't you donate to a charity funding cancer research? Every year I see 3-5 children die in the cancer ward that I volunteer; songs, music, and happy thoughts don't cut it.

Loved this movie. I heard about it in a uni class; our professor wanted to show us use of metaphor, and the question to us was: "Was Totoro real? Or was Totoro created by the girls to help them deal with their grief?"
it's interesting to think about. personally i think if totoro wasn't real, then it doesn't seem believable for the girls to really have walked all the way to the hospital to drop off the corn to their mom, right? the whole plot point of searching for the little one was because they're worried for her safety because she could never walk that far alone. so i do think its real!

Happy 30th anniversary to an 80s animated fantasy classic and a Miyazaki/Ghibli Studios classic! it premiered in Japan in 1988 and came to the US/world in 1993 when Troma/Fox/Streamline made a dub for audiences to see 25 years ago earning critical acclaim and was a best selling video for Fox and one of the anime movies that made anime mainstream besides Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll etc.
Loved this for 25 years as i recalled i was 11 after hearing about this in animation magazine/Starlog magazine/Comicscene magazine and i rented it and loved it, been one of the movies along with Little Nemo in Slumberland and Vampire Hunter D that made me an anime fan despite i saw and loved some anime in the 80s before i knew was anime was thanks to Starlog/Comic Scene.

Don't know if you know, but HongKong TVB series used this song in the 90s and I thought it was super unique for a Chinese song, only later I realized it wasnt a Chinese song :D
