Good and fair review as ever. I’ve had mine 8 months. Drives like a dream, tech is great and just works. Google mapping with preconditioning on route is really useful. Range is around 250 or so for me in summer, 210-220 in winter. Long journey recently with mixed routes got 4.5 m/kWh. Rear view is fine, boot is a good size and works for us for holidays even with dog and luggage. Don’t forget it can take a tow bar and roof bars which many can’t in this category. Minor point, the top of the centre console dies slide forward a bit!😊

I concur. Had mine 4 months and very happy. I’ve driven a lot of EVs and the Megane has grown on me. The tech is great and incorporates Android Automotive which is a Google operating system and separate from Android Auto which is a mobile pairing system. It is similar to that on the Polestar 2 albeit the interface is not the same. Visibility can be improved by removing central rear headrest (which can be stored with Type 2 cable under boot floor).

@@richardpiper4828I thought that too. What’s the point of a central rear headrest, except on the odd occasion of having 5 persons. Get rid if not required 99% of the time.

Love mine too, except the alarm sometimes goes off after it automatically locks when you walk away from the car. I have disabled auto entry and use the key fob to open and close the car just now. It goes to a dealer to hopefully get this fixed as it is an known fault seemingly with a quick fix.

See, I’m still stuck with my 2020 Ioniq 38kw Premium SE as it gets 190-220 in summer and 160+ in winter. Big boot and spec’d to the max with pleather, heated all seats and vented fronts, heated steering wheel, lane keep assist and lane follow assist, wireless phone charging, voice control, paddles for regen and more. So you understand why it’s difficult to change for the money! Maybe do a piece on a Premium SE used? Get a 2020 fir about £14k with average miles! Great battery state of health on them all!

I've had my Iconic in White with Black roof for 7weeks now. I've driven it on long journeys, and when driven carefully on Eco, I get between 280-302 miles range (although don't go above 57-59mph😉).
What really helps is that, unlike almost every other EV, the Megane doesn't affect it's range when the blowers/heaters are on, as the power doesn't come out of the EV batteries. It comes out of the car's normal 12v battery (like it does on a ICE car). Only the AC does.
But don't forget, the Megane is one of the lightest EV's on sale (lighter than a Zoe). Helped by aluminum and Carbon Fibre construction. Only the Mini and Fiat 500 are lighter.
Plus don't care anout rear visability. It has a wide-angle rear view mirror camera....Brilliant!!
Plus Google is fantastic! You cannot beat phone tech! It's the most up-to-date around, constantly updated.

It is not powered by the 12V battery - neither is the heater in an ICE car. Some ICE cars (mainly at the luxury end) have a small electric pre-heater that only lasts a minute or so that supports heating until the engine warms up then the waste heat from the engine is used to warm the cabin and the pre-heater turns off.
All EVs use the main HV battery to run the heater - whether it's an element or heatpump type including the Megane EV.

That said, We are not big people. If you are taller then 180 cm it could get somewhat cramped. Daily consumption on highway (100 km/our) is about 17-18 kwh.

Reducing the power on take off should help prolong tyre life. We have a Kia Soul which is quite quick off the lights and we take it easy. Got around 48,000km on the last set of tyres but local tyre dealer said some people were getting less than half that on EVs because they were enjoying the acceleration so much. Would have got more tyre life on last tyres except that tracking was off and wear was uneven. Good point on power management. Tyres aren’t cheap.

Last year we were tossing up between this and the MG4, however went for the MG4 for two main reasons. Renault had removed features that were originally planned (heat pump & large screen mainly) and secondly the expected price was silly compared to the MG4. Nice to see that the market has moved its price down considering these factors. But still happy with the MG4 as meant we were able to get our EV all the way back in October 22. Also we have a Zoe as second car and have had problems finding a Renault dealer to update the software, it still has a known fault from 2019 that has been fixed since but no dealer will update. In fact we took it for a service and they agreed to update, then after the service we found they didn't do the update as 'we needed a senior tech to do that' despite them previously agree to do it as part of the service. If they treat the Megane the same i think Renault might lose a few customers in the long term.

Commenting is not a problem, cheers chaps. I think I'm still more in line for an MG4, but I'm glad to see competition.

Still think they are to high on price. Luckily I didn't wait for this to be available. Run my Born 2nd year already. Think that has way better interior space.

Having test driven this exact spec, a couple of things really made me look elsewhere:
    - Too many stalks around the steering wheel, noticed you put the rear wiper on instead of drive when reversing too....I didn't get used to it on the couple of hours I tested it.
    - Its front wheel drive, and other than sport mode, it was a little too "boring" bleeding in the power was needed as you loose traction.
    - Brakes don't feel pleasant underfoot
    - In the UK we get a much smaller infotainment screen, fonts were a little too small for my liking, especially on the move
    - Price, it was expensive at the time of launch (Techno spec was £38K)
Preferred the drive of the ID.3 (rear wheel drive)

Unless it is different in the UK, the interface is full Google/android, Google maps, play store, android auto and Apple carplay as standard, many reviewers find it better than the polestar. And the armrest in the front is not in the slightest bit flimsy. Other than that an excellent review.

It has android apps m, it’s not the full blown android auto such as Volvo etc.
Kinda backed up by the fact it’s not a standard fit, base model doesn’t come with it all.

That EV came out as we'd ordered our Citroën. It looks good. One small point that many car reviews keep saying - "Wing mirrors". They are really door mirrors.

Car is good, BUT BE SURE TO CHOOSE THE HEATPUMP! I didn't and the consumption in cold weather is crazy high. Also, efficiency in highway is not that great, with better aero could be much better!

I was extremely interested in the e-tech... until I saw the price. It's too expensive. I was also pretty annoyed that the RHD version has been gimped and has a tiny infotainment system compared to the one on the continent. In the end I bought an MG4 which has a lot better spec & range and costs less. The only thing I miss about choosing the MG4 is the infotainment system really isn't very good and I think the Google based one in the e-tech & Volvo / Polestar cars would be infinitely better in day to day use.

TM3 is half a meter longer, 20cm longer wheelbase, 500km vs 300km range at the SAME price !?!? how much can it tow? A "slap" ??

Funnily enough there are many more cars other than a Tesla.
We found this for £32k, a Model 3 is £40K+.
      They’re not rivals.
