2005-2010 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger Suspension Noises

  • In this video I show you guys a VERY common suspension noise in this chasis.
    The sway bar bushings slide out of the clam shells and you hear a very distinct metal on metal rattle or banging.
    6 out of 7 cars that have this chasis were this issue. The 7th car was a dead right front strut after a hard impact with a pot hole.
    Thats an easy repair as well.
    Thanks guys and enjoy!!
    BTW here is the link to the newest tool we have in the shop!
    The JNC 770R jump pack!
    We will be doing a review on it shortly!

      I have had 2 other things make odd noises on the front suspension of these cars. The sway bar bushings being number one and the sway bar end links being number two. Of course check the control arm bushings when you are in there as well.

    My 2015 300S is making a lot of metallic clattering noise in the front end too, pretty much the exact area you described. However, as soon as I touch the brake pedal the clattering stops. I just had my brakes replaced and everything there seems fine, all nice and tight. So I’m wondering, would a loose or missing sway bar bushing cause a noise like that that stops as soon as you apply the slightest brake pedal pressure?
    Thanks, and thanks for the video.

    • @excelsiorautoservices
      @excelsiorautoservices  2 года назад +2

      It can stop if you hit the brake pedal as it is transferring load to the front and putting the loose components under compression.

    Most factory sway bar bushings will deteriorate with axcel grease, for most stock bushings silicone lube is used. When buying new bushings the manufacturer will tell you what to use to lubricate the new bushing.

    The video is flipped around somehow. There are some closeups of the bolts and they look like a left handed thread in the video but they're not. When he's tightening the bolt toward the end of the video, he's pulling down on the wrench and the ratchet clicks when he's raising it. Usually left handed fasteners are only used on one side of a car's wheel nuts. You tighten them by turning counter clockwise. Most bolts are right handed and they turn clockwise to tighten.

    I'm not sure but aren't those bushings made of rubber? I believe something like Sil-Glyde would be better, or something silicone based, because they contain petroleum, which eats away rubber...
