Yep. I had a giant red on that I fought for about 20 mins. Though I tired him out and over tightened the drag. Got him about 15 feet from the bank and he took off and snap. He was probably 42-46 inches. Shit still haunts me haha.

"let it soak for snook" = best advice ever given to me. Snook like to attack from behind, whereas reds will attack from any direction. Hook those finger mullets below/behind the pelvic fin and you'll get more snook. Give it a try!

Love Shimano, that’s all I own I have the 8000 Stella, 4000 Sustain an the 5000 Stradic, great reels, I’ve fished with others but tend to pull towards Shimano, they say if it’s not broken don’t fix it, an I never had a Shimano fail on me, I’d like to see a video review on what you think about it after you put some use on it, by the way nice vid, an stay safe an keep fishing 🎣

Wow brotha! what an adrenaline fix with that spot! Man I love that Tarpon fight in the beginning...those fish are very hard to fight when they do multiple jumps...they're very smart fish and know how to protect themselves from getting hooked. Oh and amazing catch with that ruler length Red...I was worried it was going to pile you to the dock. Amazing job my man! And I'm surprised with that Shimano 2500!

I have a 4000 and has served me great for about 12 years with no more than general maintenance. I also have several Penn battle 2's that are a lot newer and the stradic is still a lot nicer in my opinion. Good luck
I have 2 of the new Stradics the 3000, and 4000. Love them, the 4000 has a gomexus power knob. Kinda a must. Got my biggest Jack on it about 17lbs

I have I 2500 static And I love it the only thing that you have to do is wash it off when using it in salt water.
How do you wash them off? Do you use any thing specific or just a hose?

Always used Shimano reels until this year. I finally decided to break down and buy my first Penn. Not very happy with it. Going back to Shimano. Liking the one your using. Would like more info about it. Maybe get yours or someone else's opinion

Always slack off your drag when your done fishing, especially with the Stradic. You have the 2500. It has felt washers , allot of people go for the 3000 to get carbon drag washers but you don’t need it. Plus the handle on the 2500 is great. Enjoy the new reel bro.

You'll love it you will be hooked like a crach head lol should have got the 3000 through holds more line and weighs the same and is same size but has a paddle handle I have 3 of them👍🏻

FYI -- the 2500 has a felt drag, the 3000 stradic has a carbon fiber drag. For saltwater the 3000 & 5000 are the reels of choice in the stradic series reel weight, & line capacity. But the Shimano reels IMO are better reels see Tackle Advisors side by side break downs of penn vs shimano
Are they better because of the carbon drags?
@@timlane4944 It ha been proven that a felt drag is smoother but the carbon drag will last longer and is better for fast fish. front drags are easily switched out if a person likes one or the other better
