Heads up. Our cats travelled almost 4 miles and across a river - to return to the home they once lived in. This eas afyer they had been in the adoptees home for 3 weeks. It took them 2 weeks to get back. So keep them in for a couple months, then on a leash after that. Remember the song - The cat came back?😆
Remember you are their servants!!!! I have 3 - (rescued at just a few weeks pld now 9 years) & yes I'm still the servant!!!! You are very well intended . The kitties will appreciate that❤❤❤
Having dealt with my partners 3 indoor bengals for the last 3 and a half years, I’d recommend that whatever security you think is enough, triple it 😅 cats are lovely but they’re too smart and inquisitive for their own good! They’ll always find a way out 😂
Kitties love to be up high. And they like to climb! I had my son's cat while he traveled. That cat jumped out of a second-story window. Twice. At the time I had all inside cats and he was an outside cat. Guess who has outside cats now? Because of him. you can't let one out without letting them all out. He has since gone to the Rainbow Bridge at 20 years old. My other cats, that are now outside cats, are all over 17!🐱🐈🐈⬛🐾 Congratulations on your new family!
Its a beautiful DIY Catio, cats feel safer up high, like someone else said, get a tree for them to climb and scratch their claws on. That will help them to know they have a safe zone not on them. And get some catnip to help them relax! You can grow it for them! 😂❤❤❤
Even 'tame' cats often like to sleep up high where they feel safe. Get one of those big cat trees with tunnels, platforms, enclosures on it. Brittany can look them up and maybe you can cut a real tree on your property and have that for them to climb. Or Drew build walkways for them to be up and lay on. No one in my family has ever had a cat that slept 'floor level' whether it be tame ones, strays or wild ones we took in.
Brittnay, I strongly recommend that you get a large box of cat treats and start working with your new fur babbies right away to teach them to return when you call them. I live in a redwood forest (1.25 ac) in Santa Cruz cnty, CA. There are way to many, much larger and ferocious predators than my kitties. I needed to find a way to keep my out door kitty as safe as I possibly could. I choose for my cats to be indoor kitties, but some cats just refuse. So what has worked for me (especially to get them inside at night) are kitty treats. All my cats know the 'kitty treats' phrase and all come running when I say it. I also shake the kitty treat box when training. This gives them further enticement to come running home when outdoors. If you want your babies to be indoor/outdoor kitties make sure to let them out when they request or it will be hard to get them in when needed. You don't want them to feel like your intent is to trap them and force them to stay inside. My senior kitty (no longer allowed outside) was great at going out during the day and coming home when I called for him at dusk. You might want to consider calling yours in at dusk (night is much harder) and locking them in their enclosure at night, for safety. Just a thought. FYI, this is also extremely beneficial if your indoor cat escapes outside. They are often terrified and extremely difficult to get back in. Brittany, congratulations I know you've been wanting some furry cat babies for a long time. I cant imagine life without mine. They are such a comfort, even the not so cuddly ones. Lol. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Sorry for such a long post....😮
Hey guys, If you want them to be more comfortable (feeling safe) you should place the temporary house off the ground (very very close to the roof of your catio). All cats love to sleep on top of the stuff high up, off the ground. In the video you can see where they went first, highest spot they can calm and observe the territory. I would also suggest to keep them there little bit longer then just 1 week. Goog luck!
Cats can squeeze through pretty small openings………. I’m in the middle of the video, wondering if the wire you chose will work…….. 😁. Hmmmmmmm, that open wall side is a good “escape” route……. Cats are awesome climbers.
Those kitties will be fine they just need time but soon you won’t need to cage them they will love you and never leave, God Bless you, Your Alaskan Friend
I heard to move outside cats to a new homestead, put butter on their paws so they have to remove the old homestead scent. After several days they should recognize only the new homestead scents. They love high shelves, so the climbing is expected. Congratulations.
Good luck with them! When I adopted our Barn Kitties (what they're called here) I was required to keep them contained for 5 (!!!!) weeks (they were actually in individual large crates the whole time). I hope it all works out. I love having ours. Also, we were required to provide some sort of smaller box that they could hide inside. That will really help them feel better if they can hide somewhere til they settle. p.s. the panting two of them were doing right when they got home is a sign of "extreme stress". My kitties sometimes do that when they go to the vet. :(
You did great guys. They will be very spoiled. Keep in mind that you don't want to feed them too much or too often if you want mousers. They do better hunting if they are not full all the time.❤️
I relocated to outdoor living working cats, one stayed, one left. I had a feeding relationship with both for several years. I'm happy I got one, she's happily living in my yard & comes in the house sometimes. I adopted another working cat & she lives outside too by choice. The one I relocated disappeared a few days but returned for food, love & a safe space. Both are turning into loving pets❤Good luck with your kitties!!!
Hi 🌸 there love 🐦 🐦⬛ birds. I'm pretty sure the kikis will love it.the two of you will be precious parents ❤❤ the kikis will get used to the enclosure and relax. 😊it's OK you're doing great.
Carpenter worms and termites could cause this damage. You know what they say. First a dog or cat and then the baby comes along. The cat enclosure looks good. I was hoping you all would take them. They really needed a good home. Thank you. And the cats are so lucky. You and Mrs adventure are such a sweet and kind couple. I just love watching your videos every Sunday. Have a good week and see you on the next one.
Cats love to be up high, it makes them feel less vulnerable and safer, but also looks like they were panicking and wanting to go home....it's an adjustment.
Glad you took all three, must be more comforting for them. I think as you feed them and spend time with them they will relax, be patient. As I sit typing this I have my little tabby on my lap. He too was a feral cat as is our other cat, a tortoiseshell. She is a soppy Daddy's girl, he is a mummy's boy and the softest, cuddliest cat I have ever had, likes to snuggle under my chin, wants cuddlesbefore food in the morning. They may surprise you ❤
The house I grew up in backed up to the woods and we had indoor/outdoor cats. The first few times we let them out on their own, we put butter on the bottom of their paws. They would leave butter prints while exploring and then they could find their way back home by following their butter tracks. Might want to give that a try when you release them for the first time.
@@gufredd9675 that's exactly what they do. They attempt to lick it off, then they have the smell and taste on their nose and mouth. So any tracks they leave, they now associate it to the smell and taste of their own paws.
Great idea for your fur babies. Maybe just use the wire cloth on all four walls instead of the rock. That way they won't escape and predators can't push through the top where wire meets rock wall. ❤
Singing to the cats while driving was especially sweet....it does help! They enjoy reassuring words from loving humans like you two. They will calm down...traveling is traumatic for cats and will take a while for them to adapt, but they are adventurous critters and they will get familiar with their new parents and home in about 2 weeks. ❤🎉
Great job guys with the catio. You might want to add a dead tree for them to jump up on and do their claws. I thought they would climb up the wall as they’ll want to escape the stressful situation and sure enough they did and I’m pretty sure they’ll find the exit pretty quickly if the back wall is not secured. They’ll learn to have you guys around. Don’t worry. Also they like to sleep in a dark place so you might want to build something they can hide in :). Lucky kitties to have this beautiful place to call home.
Welcome ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉. Maybe you can put a dry tree inside vertically that you have cutted somewhere on the property, so that they can climb and then you could build little podests on it🎉. Good luck 🍀🍀🍀 and much joy 🌟
When they feel scared cats usually seek a high spot so they can be above any danger and keep a good eye on what is going on all around. I've had cats jump straight to the top of the fridge when I move house. Good for you for adopting all 3 of them - I hope they catch all your mice and rats!
I recommend adding some higher up platforms for the cats in the catio! Like ledges, hammocks, stairs and even boxes! They're often not the biggest fan of being ground level 🙂 Congrats on your new family members, they're adorable!! ❤
Britney riding in the back of the truck with the kitties was SO sweet! 😻😻😻 I would totally do the same! FYI, cats like to be able to smell the ground /dirt, so that may be one reason they're going out to the back / upper area of the catio. You could try removing the Astroturf to make them happier. Also it's a good idea to put coconut oil on their paws when relocating outdoor cats - they will lick their paws clean and get used to the smell of the new land faster that way. That's one way kitties "know" their outside home area, is by how the ground smells.
Food and love , they’ll be following you both all over the grounds within 2 weeks , it will be tough at first but y’all radiate love so I have faith you’ll see a difference in no time.
I've never seen a catio before but what a great little shelter it will be for ur new furry friends! If they need shelter they will love it! I love the calico colored kitten they are so smart! 😺😺😺😺
Ummm, your home store is way cooler than my local HD in California. 😂 Looks like termite or woodworm damage. Did you guys save any of the downed eucalyptus trees for building? Hmm, that’s a cool drone camera. 😂. Cats like to climb and perch. They need a cat tree with little ledges they can perch on. And I’m not sure how big the holes on the wire mesh is but if you can squeeze your fist through, more than likely the cat can squeeze their head through too. Good luck! ❤
What a wonderful episode! Actually brought tears of joy and happiness when you said you were adopting the 3 kitties. Both of you are so awesome ❤. . . and Drew, taking 3 days to build that beautiful catio! God bless you both. I can't wait to see next week's episode! Mr & Mrs Catventure! 😁 Praying that the kitties acclimate to their new home quickly 🙏🏻
You two will never regret this! I’m considering two kitties right now!! You both rock. Now I want a cat she shed for me and cats! Lol😊. You two are awesome.
That was the best effort for building a nice place for the kitties. They look so pretty. Congratulations on your new family members. I am guessing the lil boogers escaped in about 15 minutes. LOL
Drew and Brittany, ❤congrads on adoption..cute kitties..so sweet singing on way home to make them feel secure..brit spend lots of time with them, you are their moma..❤😊
When I saw the cats for the first time I almost cried. Cats are affectionate and snuggle bunnies. May your lives be filled with joy for your additions to your family. 🤗💓
How could these kitties not love you? You're the perfect humans for them. They love to be up high, so if you could find a good sized heavy branch to put in there, it would be great. Maybe two. You did a great job on the catio.
Dear Brittany and Drew. Oh WOW! You obviously have access to an amazing range of distillery equipment (copper alambiks). At last you can put the invasive eucalyptus trees, respectively it's leaves, to a good use by turning them into eucalyptus oil. It's extremely useful, healthy and very good for your respiratory tract system (asthma). Best regards, luck and especially health to all involved life forms (humans, animals and plants).
So impressed with the kind of effort you put into everything you do,including loving your cats 🐈 . They will do great, cats are very adaptable to new surroundings. All you Gotta do is feed them and they will know where their next meal will come from.
Oh and I really wish the US would have got to metric back in the 70's when we were supposed to. Working with 10ths as you look a tape measure, compared to 1/16's, so much easier!
You guys really out did yourselves with the cat build. Kudo's to you both. I couldn't believe they got out that quick!! Their going to fit right in guys don't you worry!! I just love you two!!🥰
For cats it is really best if there is a cat flap or something similar that leads outside. My cats are always indoors when it rains and as soon as the sun shines again, they pursue their hobby outside. There is always a litter box in the toilet in the house - just in case - when it rains heavily, it is used, otherwise only in the garden
nice catio. yeah! they look like they are gonna be out of there in a new york minute. i have no idea what else you could have done. maybe "4" walls of expensive window screen that they still would break out of! i know like dogs they are smart. i guess if they want out they will find a way. can't wait to learn what happens. continued blessings.🕊
Well done on the catio build Drew - who knew that catio was a thing! I hope they do settle well with you both, once they know you will be taking good care of them Im sure they will. Fingers crossed for you and the kitty's x
Definitely an A+ for effort! You guys are really wonderful to be giving them a new home and trying to ease their transition. They are super lucky to have you and my wish is that you will experience love and joy with them in your lives too!
When dealing with wood of unknown quality, you can prevent splitting by predrilling a hole with a drill bit one size smaller than the gauge of the screws you are using. For example, if you have a M6 gauge screw, then predrill with a 5 mm drill bit. This will remove enough of the wood, but leave enough wood for the screws to grip.
Those pro Catios have high perches, stairs, lounging areas for a reason. Cats love being high in trees so they can see down on their prey. Good luck. Hard to train a ferral or wild raised feline.
That is so sweet of you guys. I’m sure they will get use to the Catio. Cats are great climbers and they are very smart to find ways to get out, so check all the corners. Love and be safe!😘🤗🌼🇻🇪
Have fun with the kittties.. Outdoor cats are amazing. BTW I don't see the link for the little drone. The drone link in the description is for a big DJI Mavic
How wonderful that you are adopting rescued cats! ❤ It looks like you have 2 females and one male. Male cats usually cannot be tri-colored. Hopefully they are spayed and neutered, or you could quickly become overwhelmed with wild cats! 😮 Pluse outdoor cats will poop in your gardens or anywhere there is loose soil! 💩💩💩 You are right, Brittany! Your dream cattio that give indoor cats to the outdoor is the best! They can be indoor for mouse and rat control, but can enjoy the outdoors without threat to the wildlife! Cats are very good hunters! 🐈🐈🐈 Drew is so handy, but Brittany is getting so handy too! I am impressed with her working so hard, in a dress!
@Mrandmrsadventure love that! Your new fur babies are so sweet! We have 3 cats indoors that were rescued feral cats and 5 outdoors that are friendly feral cats. For a while, I was trying to capture and fix all of the cats in our area. People would get a kitten and then let it go when they got older, but never fix them! We had a lot of cats running around. Finally, I got help from a woman who had been catching and fixing cats, too. Now, our neighborhood has a stable cat colony. Cats are territorial and will not let outside cats in, especially toms. The feral cats have gotten friendly. I have provided safe, sheltered areas for them to sleep and fresh food and water every day. They keep the rats away but will kill other animals, like birds and squirrels, too if the birds and squirrels are not alert and on the ground where they are easy enough to catch. Mostly, they are not interested because I feed them. We also have a 70 lb, bouncy, rescued dog, a Gordon setter. We had to get him to know the indoor cats by providing the cats a way to escape the dog with a slatted gate to the hallway and bedroom areas. Now we don't need the gate because they are all buds. He sleeps with the little female, but the older, large male cat bosses the dog around! He will still chase the outside cats!
Hi Mr and Mrs. As proud father of 4 cats i welcome you both to the cat crew. For 3 cats you should have another litter, preferably a closed one. You should too put something for them to play and climb. Good Luck!!!
How Brittany and Drew! Kitties at your homestead now, too?! How exciting! ( : You two are sooo cute about your new kitties! ( : Amazing builders and craftsmen/craftswomen too! I am sooo inpressed with all your builds every week! ( : Good luck with your sweet kitties! ( :
They need some toys to stimulate their mind. A good 1-2 weeks or they will take off as soon as the opportunity presents itself. You’ve got a good start.
What a great job on the patio! I’m afraid to ask what happened in the next 10 minutes that you mentioned, typically you’ll let them acclimate for 2 weeks, preferably inside coz having exposure to the elements, they’ll most likely flee
Hello guys, we are new to the channel, and wanted to share that we own a 2022 Volvo and the latest update allows us to watch RUclips inside the car. Now we can watch your episodes while we are out on the road. Don’t worry, it does work if the car is moving. Thank you for all you share!!!
The methodology, the sounds, the coming together of so many disjointed parts… we are all one… maybe the watching of a structure being built speaks to the building and coming together of our souls in some way too… I just got real deep there 😆☺️✨
Wow that is a big project for those temporary kitties. Will you use the kitty condo for something else in the future? I love watching you two. Any word on your permits yet? I am wondering what I am going to deal with when I get there and buy my farm and want to build. Wondering how long it's going to take me to get my permits. Cheers my friends. Gina in Upstate New York USA moving to Portugal. Drew that is how everything is going to be. Projects take longer, are harder but you know what your passion gets you through each one and it changes your life one project at a time. I love this. Brittney you are going to make a wonderful mom one day.. Theyre outdoor cats my friends, they climb trees, dig and theyll be fine....
Pretty cool...I grew up with kitties and in a large garden...and for sure, specially since little, they learn where is home. They love exploring and going after whatever they get involved in, but to eat and rest and love they know where it is and it is where they feel secure also😊...and you did prepare 🎉a very good place for them

We called these cat palaces back in Oz. Great for keeping them stimulated but protecting the local wildlife at the same time.
Cats always seek the high spot for safety
Try not to worry, they'll stay together for sure and adjust. They know they've been rehomed, cats are very smart. Food is your best tool.

I love watching you two work together. Fur babies are the best.❤ from Oklahoma
good luck with the kitties! i have two wild banshees right here I could ship from Ohio to you lol. Be safe!
Love the cat home that you built 👏🏽👏🏽💪🏾💪🏾👍👍☕️☕️☕️☕️❤️

Mr & Mrs Catventure! 😁 Praying that the kitties acclimate to their new home quickly 🙏🏻
You two will never regret this! I’m considering two kitties right now!! You both rock. Now I want a cat she shed for me and cats! Lol😊. You two are awesome.
That was the best effort for building a nice place for the kitties. They look so pretty. Congratulations on your new family members. I am guessing the lil boogers escaped in about 15 minutes. LOL
LOL 😂🙈
Drew and Brittany,
❤congrads on adoption..cute kitties..so sweet singing on way home to make them feel secure..brit spend lots of time with them, you are their moma..❤😊
When I saw the cats for the first time I almost cried. Cats are affectionate and snuggle bunnies. May your lives be filled with joy for your additions to your family. 🤗💓
Me too!! I cried with the first meow I heard the first day we met them… that’s how I knew we needed each other 🥹❤️😽
How could these kitties not love you? You're the perfect humans for them. They love to be up high, so if you could find a good sized heavy branch to put in there, it would be great. Maybe two. You did a great job on the catio.
Thank you 😽😽😽
Add a flea comb and brush to your list. Brushing and playing with them could help bonding. Thank you for taking them in, and congratulations!!
Sois una pareja maravillosa y de seguro los gatitos os amarán ❤
You two are true cat-people. Wonderful transitional home. Wishing you the best in all your efforts.
Brittany, glad you got your fur babies. Awesome job Drew building the cat pergola 😅 much love 😊❤🤗
We moved a lot, are vet said give them a kick of butter they will stay around. It worked every time . Good luck
Glad you two decided to be catparents. I love cats too.❤️❤️❤️😄
That is an elaborate Catio well down Drew & Britt! Fur babies they will adjust don’t forget special treats? So happy for you both! 💜💙🇦🇺🤗😺😽😺
I have five cats and they LOVE clear cat bowls!!!!! They lay in them all day long!
Oh and I really wish the US would have got to metric back in the 70's when we were supposed to. Working with 10ths as you look a tape measure, compared to 1/16's, so much easier!
Ooh, praying everything is okay, with the kitties. 🌹
It looks puuurrrrfect!
You should have trail cams up to see what animals come around after dark for the kitties. And yourselves...good luck
That wood condition you pointed out is called dry rot. So happy for you that you have your fur babies now.
Now your baby's can start coming. I can't wait for that video
nice catio. yeah! they look like they are gonna be out of there in a new york minute. i have no idea what else you could have done. maybe "4" walls of expensive window screen that they still would break out of! i know like dogs they are smart. i guess if they want out they will find a way. can't wait to learn what happens. continued blessings.🕊
Well done on the catio build Drew - who knew that catio was a thing! I hope they do settle well with you both, once they know you will be taking good care of them Im sure they will. Fingers crossed for you and the kitty's x
They are so cute. Nice place for the fur babies.
Definitely an A+ for effort! You guys are really wonderful to be giving them a new home and trying to ease their transition. They are super lucky to have you and my wish is that you will experience love and joy with them in your lives too!
Absolutely love your warm hearts. Great gesture and welcome to your furkids ❤
Love your building for the cats. They are going to love that place to stay even when they go free.
We have a 7’X25’ catio. Our kitties LOVE IT!
I think you comforted them sitting back there😊
That is so sweet of you guys.
You are right, Brittany! Your dream cattio that give indoor cats to the outdoor is the best! They can be indoor for mouse and rat control, but can enjoy the outdoors without threat to the wildlife! Cats are very good hunters! 🐈🐈🐈
Drew is so handy, but Brittany is getting so handy too! I am impressed with her working so hard, in a dress!
thank you for your kind and supportive words! and yes, they are all spayed/neutered ❤️
I meant catio, but Google doesn’t like that work I guess 🤣🤣
Hello guys, we are new to the channel, and wanted to share that we own a 2022 Volvo and the latest update allows us to watch RUclips inside the car. Now we can watch your episodes while we are out on the road. Don’t worry, it does work if the car is moving. Thank you for all you share!!!
Excelente trabalho Drew! Luck cats with such nice and wonder "parents".
I knew you guys were going to do it.😂. Congratulations!😊
Why is watching someone build something so fascinating?
