I am a straight shaver. I just watched your gold dollar shave. I have a new respect for you. Hopefully we will get to see more shaves with a straight. Subscribed for life. Have a great day.
Hi Paul- Interesting shave today; thank you! It was good of you to show us a brushless shave cream, as well as the razor blade. I hope your week is off to a good start. Take care and all the best!
Great shave Paul , I don't think I would the brushless barbasol . But I used the can barbasol years ago. I like the smell of it ,and the aftershave you used today was my dads favorite just brings back memory's .
Gr8 vid Paul as usual 💈👍 Like the look of that Nivea cream. Your floral knowledge is amazing 🤣🤣🤣 Gorgeous display Mrs H. Hope u had a lovely weekend & enjoyed 'Lashento's '. Weathers so lovely at the mo. Makes you feel so much better. Thanx again Paul 💈😊
Love Skin Bracer - definitely old school aftershave but it's got that crisp icy menthol embrace on the face not unlike Aqua Velva. Smells great too! Recently I found an unopened Skin Bracer set from the mid-1970s, four varieties all in glass bottles. The original, Dry Lime, Wild Moss, and Burnished Leather. Given they are over 40 years old the amazing thing is they haven't really lost anything - the original still smells and works just like what you would buy now. The Dry Lime is terrific too - Wild Moss isn't bad but I haven't been in a rush to revisit the Burnished Leather, as it may have lost of some of its scent over the years.
Very interesting video and shave. I’m just not a fan of brushless creams. I prefer using a brush, but it’s ok to change it up a bit. Great razor. Cheers.
Well it happens to all of us from time to time, no one is immune from the inevitable Paul. No worries, it'll heal up. I tried a brushless shave product, Duke Cannon, not my fancy but it did work. Like you said, they're good for a quick one pass and done shave.. My dad used Skin Bracer way back in the day, and I still do as well on occasion. Timeless scent. I've not seen that Nivea in the states yet, but we can get the 2 in 1 aftershave now. An explosion of color from the talented hands of Mrs H again, beautiful. Great video. Enjoy.
Thank you Terry, yes completely my fault that nick, happens in a split second...lol.....yes love the Skin Bracer.....hope the Nivea gets over there...sure it will....all the best ...have a great week ahead....Paul.
Good Morning Paul! Loved the video! These are James instructions when using Barbasol. The canned Barbasol is used with safety razors all the time. My favorite is the green can with aloe. Shake the more than you think you need to to get a better consistency. Of course followed by Skin Bracer after the shave!
Paul, I use something in the States called Cremo it’s much like what you’re using tonight, it’s very slick but a lousy shave cream not much protection but it’s a great preshave cream. I believe the Barbasol you’re using tonight would make a great preshave soap like Cremo, also billed as a shave soap but it’s not good for shaving it offers no protection only slickness.
Yes, heard of Cremo, sounds much the same....yes would make a great pre-shave, even the texture of it would make a good balm.....but it did the job fair play.......many thanks and all the best....Paul.
I'm with you Paul, I prefer a lathering soap or cream. I find that these "brushless" creams tend to work very well as a pre-shave cream and then lather over the top. I'm no specialist, but you may try it out, cheers. And thank you for always making me laugh.
Great video Paul, especially the “pick up time!”. Lol I’m not into brushless creams but it’s not a bad idea if your traveling and trying to save room in your dopp bag per say or your pressed for time and don’t want to use a brush as it can be time consuming. Beautiful flowers like always. Have a blessed day.
The non-aerosol Barbasol you’re using is kinda hard to find here in the States but after watching this I ordered a tube to come to my local drugstore. Thanks!
I purchased a can of the current Barbasol 'Original' shaving cream hoping to sample what I assumed would have been the original scent. If I'm not mistaken, the original Barbasol scent (different from the current version) inspired How To Grow A Moustache's 'Barbasoul' (which prompted a 'Cease and Desist' letter from the company) and led to Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements 'CaD'. Other similar products are Fine Accoutrements 'American Blend', RazoRock 'American Barber', Noble Otter Soap Co. 'Barrbarr' and Oleo Soapworks 'Irving Park'. I only have 'CaD' and 'American Blend' (I slightly prefer 'CaD'), but while some have compared the scent of the original Barbasol scent to 'CaD' and 'American Blend', it is clear that the current Barbasol 'Original' scent must be a pale imitation of what was experienced many, many years ago. Curiously, Yves Saint Laurent's fragrance for 'Rive Gauche Pour Homme' (released in 2003) has been compared to many of the above products. I doubt it was inspired by Barbasol's original scent. I'd like to sample the other three soap products. Oleo Soapworks base their 'Irving Park' fragrance on the YSL fragrance using Bergamot, Star Anise, Rosemary, Lavender, Geranium Leaves, Cloves, Vetiver, Gaiac Wood, Patchouli. One individual highly praised RazoRock, who used a 'luxury French (fragrance) house' to replicate the scent. You may be very disappointed by the performance (and scent) of Barbasol 'Original' Thick & Rich Shaving Cream. While it immediately explodes into a thick lather, I find the texture of the cream somewhat gummy and (subsequently) drying.
I think it is like many of the original "Classics" the newer versions can never be the same, or always seem to lack something.....I do look forward to trying the Canned Original Barbasol as I have never tried that or it's original from back in the day.....many thanks......Paul.
Hi Paul . Bulldog cream is the same, no brush or lather, just a thin layer of cream . which is not for me , so i used it as a pre shave , i like using the brush to build a lather. Good info , i like lashentos of lather lol .see ya wednesday
To your query if the brushless cream smells like the Original (in the can), it doesn't. Though, in fact, it is reportedly to be the closest in scent and formulation for composition and performance, to the original tube cream (in the old metal foil tubes) from the time of WWII. I agree with you that when you go brushless, that we've been spoiled with the luxury and practice of including the use of our brushes.
Interesting product, but I also like soap that lathers up.) But it's works. Wow! New blade, never see before! Unusual experiance.)) For a long time did not apply this small razor. Now it's selling similar on Aliexpress.)) Thank you Paul, thanks to Mrs.H!
Barbasol may have been one of the first to have shaving cream in a tube back in the 1940s maybe,, not sure ,but I only had the canned stuff and it is not great but good enough I reckon / Poraso and CREMO tube creams are my choices now ..
Morning mate! Great to see you using the barbasol product! I can't get enough of mine, you will be more impressed with the can I think as it does lather up very thick and the smell is fantastic. I honestly thought you were going to get pissed off and just grab a brush and try and lather up with a brush but no you persevered so well done! 👍😁 today I am going to an Indian restaurant for lunch to have a buffet which I've never done before but all the same I am looking forward to it. £5.50 for as much as you want! can't be bad! 😉 you take care my friend, have a great day 👍 Tony.
Really nice scent Tony, look forward to the canned stuff more.....I stuck with it in this shave...lol....£5.50....all you can eat in the Indian......you lucky swine! hope you enjoyed it mate.....all the best and thanks.... Paul :-)
Hi Paul. Don`t think I`ll be buying that particular Barbasol. Like you I like the process of brush, cream or soap. Once in a blue moon I`ll us the aerosol Barbasol in a can if I`m in a big hurry. May have to pick up that blade if the price is right. Seemed quite good. Take good care.
I've used the Dove brushless, you keep having to apply more of the product, whereas with brush soaps and creams, once you're lathered up, the brush holds enough for more than three passes.
use the barbasol after shave...wow, i love that smell....my brother loves the neutrogena for sensitive skin...goes on clear. he likes it because it allows him to shave around his Fu Manchu. bake some home made bread and use that for your soppings (gravy on your plate)....
0:00 I’ve always liked morning mood song. 3:27 I actually liked using a Barbasol Sensitive Skin shaving cream for shaving, because it has aloe in it for soothing a skin.
It doesn't look like that tube of cream would last very long with the amount needed for 3 passes, and I definitely prefer the cushion of a good lather created with a brush, still it looked like a good comfortable shave.💈💈
Yes, it would soon go Paul....I expect they assume only one pass will be done using a multi blade cartridge razor....but it did the job fair play, nice scent too.....all the best and thanks....Paul.
dinner sounds delicious, oh the crackling we put on a plate and eat as well while we eat the other meal...but like you no gravy on...great video...another idear for PICKUP TIME...miauw miauw time from kitty cat...i just bought the Nivea Cooling moisturiser amazing for the hot days
Thank you, yes dinner was great, and the crackling....can't beat it can you.....Nivea cooling....can't remember trying that.....sounds nice...all the best :-)
i can imagine it was, nope can´t beat the crackling...it´s new to me the Cooling version...thank you all the best ...Peter ps if you cant finde it in stores in the UK...amazon uk has it www.amazon.co.uk/Nivea-Sensitive-Cooling-Moisturiser-Alcohol/dp/B00WKNAF00
Amazing arrangement! I always get a kick out of guys using brushless creams. They're so attached to their thick lather and are like fish out of water without it. All the brushless crams I have are wonderful with great slickness and protection. Have a great week.
Goatee's revenge: had you left it you would not have that nick! :) This version of Barbasol is not available in my area of the US. The canned version of Barbasol is everywhere and I have used it often in the past. Nowadays, I prefer Palmolive Classic which has to be shipped from your side of the pond. Ironic eh?
Someone needs to get Paul the discontinued Barbasol Pacific Rush Blue aftershave splash and lotion! Unfortunately Im just about out of mine and can't find it locally anymore
I am changing my name from Paul to Nick....lol.....yes great blades, just been told they are made by Derby...lol....they feel more aggressive than my Derby blades, but really good blades.....thanks Michael :-)
The best part of that shave was the pork chop menue for dinner.....That soap would never make it in my shaving Den...No brush..No Lather...No Fun...A very Depressing shave on a Sunday ...Never the less. You displayed the Stiff Upper Lip of the English...even with the bloody Chin...Churchill would be proud....I don't see that product making any shaver happy on a Sunday....ESP DE shaver...Nivia saved the day..although I suspect they just repackaged their standard product...you still get 5 stars for your efforts...sometimes avoiding a product is as important as finding and using a new one that works well....so no more brushless products. It's who you are. I hugged my 830 and swore my loyalty to the end....lol...enjoy your chops...till the next with Brush shave..Cheers! 🇬🇧🇺🇸🐈🐈🐈🍺🍺🍺
I was thinking they we're made by Derby along with a few other not often heard of names like Bluebird, Concord, Diamonds pro excell, and Lion, the Chromium-Ceramic-Platinum-Tungsten and Polymer coating gives them away. As to being rebranded Derbys, I have no idea. I know that Bluebirds feel sharper than derby, so its possible they do make other sharper blades.
I LOVE the scent of canned Barbasol, but it provides zero protection. It’s not even sick. I wish they’d improve the slickness and keep the scent. Glad I got one of those Boots razors off of you a few years ago before they discontinued them.
The aerosol version of Barbasol, so I may or may not forget about the brushless cream as long as the brushless cream works for me. I'm sure some people will love it so that's for you to decide
The brushless cream appears to be real hard work and I was just waiting for you fathers Rizlas to be produced. As I’ve said before I don’t understand why manufacturers manufacture razors that cannot take a DE blade without overhang being revealed, aren’t most blades the same dimension?
This cream didn't look good, but it did the job, nice scent......that's it.....I should have got some Rizla's in...lol....most blades are the same yes, the razor heads are different ....they may make them one day with no overhang.....cheers Jeff.
just got a Titan straight razor from China, stunning razor and came shave ready, only cost £27.76 ya needed one of ya dads baccy papers there for your nic Paul lol think i will defo give the barbasol a miss
Very nice shave Paul ... almost 😌👏 I’d love to see companies like Boots bringing back traditional shaving things, I had a look for that razor you used today when I first started, but alas 😩 You’re right about the brushless shave creams, if you get a decent one, they do work. I was sent one by Mr Keer and I have no problems using it, and compared to some soaps I’ve got, it’s better. I don’t think they’re as good as some other soaps or as much fun as using a brush but that’s it. If people don’t want to use them, then that is their choice but they shouldn’t disparage them without trying them, they sound like they’re reading from a tired sounding script. Lovely flowers LH that Paul so expertly named 😌👏💐
Yes...almost is right Dave....lol.....damn chin!.....they used to stock this razor sort of now and again....so I used to get one when they did, I gave two to my brother's years ago....this cream did the job fair play, and the scent was great....so I respect it for what it is.....still love my brushes for lathering though... ;-)...cheers Dave.
hey Paul, you are so not into this video and shave. and you know what? that is so cool. you are human and we subscribers don't want to think of you as a robot. Paul, you need to take a vacation and not feel obligated to do these videos. please go on holiday and enjoy life. :-) Cheers, Mark
I'm disappointed that the Barbasol in a tube turns out to be brushless. I wasn't sure, but now I probably won't purchase any. I used to use the canned version, because it is so inexpensive in stores here. I didn't do traditional shaving in any form then. Fortunately, Mrs. H's flowers don't dissapoint.
Yes it is a shame, I look forward to trying the Barbasol Can....that should be better.....but this did do the job, and the scent was nice.....we are spoilt now with all the soaps and brushes we have....lol....flowers saved the day....many thanks :-)
Great bloody shave Paul !! If you like Concord blades go to Strictly salon.com. They run 6 pound 49 for 100. They are made in Istanbul Turkey in the same plant that produces Derby blades. Personnas they are not. I've used them for over a year now. Ok blade for me. Cheers to you and the Mrs.
Thanks Larry....I heard they were Personna and Derby.....but your the second person to say Derby....great blades...very pleased with them...they feel more aggressive than the Derby blades I have too...amazing :-)
The paraffin wax in this Barbasol cream makes it terrible. The wax leaves a nasty film on all equipment it touches. Any variety of Cremo is 100% better. I tossed my tubes of Barbasol in the trash after giving it a few chances. I didn't want to curse anyone by giving them away. The scent was fine and I wanted to like it, but the performance left me sad.
It's 12:40 in the morning a perfect time to watch a Paul H video. Great shave Paul.
Many thanks, wow 12:40 am , my eyes would be burning...lol.
I am a straight shaver. I just watched your gold dollar shave. I have a new respect for you. Hopefully we will get to see more shaves with a straight. Subscribed for life. Have a great day.
Many thanks, much appreciated....all the best...Paul.
That lathers much like Cremo Original. Its brushless as well but very slick. I use it for pre shave only then lather my soap of the day over it.
Ah right, yes heard of Cremo....many thanks .
Beautiful flowers, great shave, and the dinner sounds scrumptious!
Thank you very much :-)
Hi Paul- Interesting shave today; thank you!

Thanks Natalie, it's a good cream the Nivea....the sunshine always helps to feel even better, have a great weekend :-)

What a great find, nice that....even the fact they are in glass bottles...fantastic...thanks and all the best...Paul. :-)
Another great shave Have a nice sunday 💐🤠👍love the little "side" info:-)!!
Many thanks, hope you have a great Sunday too :-)
Another classy video Paul H thank you!
Very interesting video and shave. I’m just not a fan of brushless creams. I prefer using a brush, but it’s ok to change it up a bit. Great razor. Cheers.
Many thanks Kirk.

Thank you James and Christina, will remember that when using the can version :-)
Those overhangs. Nice shave Paul. 🍺🍺🍺
Yes, I go on about them, then catch myself with it..lol....many thanks :-)

Lol...glad you liked it :-)
I'm with you Paul, I prefer a lathering soap or cream. I find that these "brushless" creams tend to work very well as a pre-shave cream and then lather over the top. I'm no specialist, but you may try it out, cheers. And thank you for always making me laugh.
Thank you, yes may try that with it.....and glad to make you laugh.....what life should be about...all the best :-)
Thank you Frank, yes it does the job if your in a rush etc.....all the best....Paul.
Your welcome Paul
The non-aerosol Barbasol you’re using is kinda hard to find here in the States but after watching this I ordered a tube to come to my local drugstore.
Thanks!
I purchased a can of the current Barbasol 'Original' shaving cream hoping to sample what I assumed would have been the original scent. To your query if the brushless cream smells like the Original (in the can), it doesn't. Barbasol may have been one of the first to have shaving cream in a tube back in the 1940s maybe,, not sure ,but I only had the canned stuff and it is not great but good enough I reckon / Poraso and CREMO tube creams are my choices now ..
Superb shave Paul considering it was brushless but I definitely prefer traditional wet shaving with a brush all the best Jarryd.💈💈💈💈
It worked well, but like you say, much prefer the good old brush and soap method.......thanks Jarryd :-)

PaulHFilms spot on mate! Makes a change from the Sunday Roast sometimes 😉👍
Barbasol Brisk is an Aftershave you would love very much Paul. I wish I could send you a bottle
You can't beat the brush way Brian.....but at least this did the job fair play....have a great week :-)
That Concord logo is a winner!
Really enjoyed it....many thanks :-)
Paul, we like when you tell it all, the negative and the positive.
Many thanks, try to be honest about them...all the best :)
The Concorde blades are superb, I don't like brushless shaving cream. Nice shave Paul and greatings to your lovely wife Lowri.
They are good, just heard they could be re-branded Personna blades, so if they are no wonder I like them..lol....many thanks Huub :-)
PaulHFilms they are made i the factory from Derby
Derby....ah well I m confused now...lol...;-) thanks Huub.
The BOOTs is back!
Oh yes...lol.
I've used the Dove brushless, you keep having to apply more of the product, whereas with brush soaps and creams, once you're lathered up, the brush holds enough for more than three passes.
Yes, I think you would use much more product with brushless ( for DE shaving anyway)....thanks James.
Love listering to you Paul.
use the barbasol after shave...wow, i love that smell....my brother loves the neutrogena for sensitive skin...goes on clear. he likes it because it allows him to shave around his Fu Manchu.

Although marketed as 'brushless", I wonder what the results would be if you applied it with a brush?
Not good, just messes up your brush..
Terrible, I tried it...and how I found out it was brushless actually.. Thanks :-)
Amazing arrangement! I always get a kick out of guys using brushless creams. They're so attached to their thick lather and are like fish out of water without it. All the brushless crams I have are wonderful with great slickness and protection. Have a great week.
We are lost without lather Jill....lol....but this cream did the job as I said....nice scent too.....all the best and have a great week also :-)

Someone needs to get Paul the discontinued Barbasol Pacific Rush Blue aftershave splash and lotion! Unfortunately Im just about out of mine and can't find it locally anymore
Well....it sounded a good aftershave Rob....shame you can't get it..all the best and thanks....Paul.
Nice to see the maestro get a good nick.
I seem to manage one most shaves!!!
LOL
Will have to find the concord blades as I love the Feathers 😂
I am changing my name from Paul to Nick....lol.....yes great blades, just been told they are made by Derby...lol....they feel more aggressive than my Derby blades, but really good blades.....thanks Michael :-)

Bless yer 😂
Hi Paul, if you're still not sure what razor, how about the Merkur Vision. We haven't seen that one in a while 🙂
The Vision may well be used on Wednesday, as someone else asked for it too...many thanks :-)
Which is better-- the Lord Tech or the Gillette 7 o'clock ? Thanks.
The Lord Tech is better constructed, but both shave pretty well for me, so it would be a matter of taste Tony
Ciao Paul I don't like cream brushless but your job is great 👏👏 Today is Mother's day Kisses all of them🌼🌻⚘🌷Enzo
Happy Mother's Day to all Mum's.....all the best Enzo and thanks :-)

Did some research on the blades you used. They appear to be rebranded Personna's.
Ah...no wonder I liked them. :-) Thanks .
I look forward to trying the actual canned original version....this worked for me, just missed my brush ;-)
Excellent shaving Paul, I do not like the can. Good Sunday my friend!
Thank you Marco.....not tried the can version yet....you have a great Sunday too :-)
Ciao Paul bellissima sbarbata
Thank you Stefano :-)
Try out the Fendrihan shave brushes off amazon
Thanks....looks a good brush :-)
just got a Titan straight razor from China, stunning razor and came shave ready, only cost £27.76
ya needed one of ya dads baccy papers there for your nic Paul lol
think i will defo give the barbasol a miss
Hi Paul. It’s strange to see you not using a brush. That’s more like a gel than a soap.
You feel hard done by shaving this way......miss the lather process....lol....many thanks Stephen.
I wonder how that cream could handle the Futur on 6.
I may try it one day ;-)
Have the paramedics on standby. :D
thank you for your videos
Thank you for watching, much appreciated.
Very nice shave Paul ... almost 😌👏
I’d love to see companies like Boots bringing back traditional shaving things, I had a look for that razor you used today when I first started, but alas 😩
You’re right about the brushless shave creams, if you get a decent one, they do work.
Never tried brushless shaving cream
hey Paul, you are so not into this video and shave. and you know what? that is so cool. you are human and we subscribers don't want to think of you as a robot.
Paul, you need to take a vacation and not feel obligated to do these videos. please go on holiday and enjoy life. :-) Cheers, Mark
I like that razor
I hate brush less creams. The canned version are better for me. You need a brush if you want a real lather without the gas propellants.
I look forward to trying the Barbasol can, hopefully will be good....many thanks :-)
good feedback from that razor : )
1:17 can we have this non aerosol Barbasol moisturizing shaving cream with 5 ounces at the airport as a carry on?
Should be ok yes
Does that Barbasol smell similar to Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements CaD? I've heard CaD is supposed to be reminiscent of the Barbasol canned goo.
Not this one no, I think the CaD is based on the Original Barbasol.....so look forward to trying that.
Good grief is right, that soap is really not for me.I will say it could be very useful when short on time or on the go.Maybe camping?
Ciao Paul
Thank you :-)
Great shave Paul you shouldn't talk while going around the chin and I use a feather on my 7 o clock which case about 70 rupees in my country.
Indeed I shouldn't talk around the chin.....or when shaving really...lol....have some great shaves Joy....many thanks :-)
The secret to a great shave...........knowing when to quit.
You will have to do a test, with your da's way, with cig papers 😀
Yes, I must do that actually, as it worked ;-)
Hello there. There are too many videos about shaving haha . It would be cool to do a video about hair grooming or something
Hello Duncan......sadly hair gooming is not my thing.....but there are plenty on RUclips though I should think.
12:57 James Gandolfini
Lol...thanks :)
Are you completely maaad??!! No shaving brush? ✌️😂🆘 Don't destroy our culture 😋 great one P!
Yeah....slightly mad I think...lol :-)
The paraffin wax in this Barbasol cream makes it terrible. The wax leaves a nasty film on all equipment it touches. Any variety of Cremo is 100% better. I tossed my tubes of Barbasol in the trash after giving it a few chances. I didn't want to curse anyone by giving them away. The scent was fine and I wanted to like it, but the performance left me sad.
Not for me . I love my brushes now . That shave was a waste of time . You need to take sometime off Paul.
Garbage stuff . If you want stuff to just do the job go back to a disposable razer and the can crap ! Just saying goes Paul.
