My friends over at Barbasol were kind enough to send me a tube of their new Barbasol 1919 Brushless shaving cream. It's an updated throwback to their original shaving cream that was first introduced in 1919.
Let's see what it's like to shave with an homage to the shaving cream that made their company so successful. Along the way, I talk about the scent, what I like and dislike about it and compare it with their vintage brushless shaving cream and their more recent brushless cream.

Got my order yesterday and shaved with it this morning.
First time out, I am impressed with it. It's doesn't have the same scent as the stuff I used in the 80's and 90s, but the shave was very close and smooth. First time out I used my Rockwell.
Pros:
Scent is good, not overwhelming. Soft and gentle. There are hints of citrus and it fades and won't interfere with any aftershave or cologne.
A little goes a long way.
Extremely slick, better than Cremo Cream
Cons:
Clogs the razor easily. This goes back to a little goes a long way.
Overall, I am very pleased with it and I hope they market this well, better than the Therapeutic shaving cream. I think a lot of people will like this.
Now if they would just package it in the tub. Life would be so sweet.

I just love the nostalgia of the brushless barbasol. The soldiers used it in both world wars with their safety razors. I love those eras.

I'm excited about Barbasol 1919 and wanted to see a few reviews about it before possibly purchasing it.
I'm not a big fan of brushless shaving creams, I haven't had much success with them.
My go to's have been Proraso Blue in the Tube and Gillette Pure... Both fit in my budget..
I may still purchase Barbasol 1919...I'm at least thinking about it..

If i was to describe the scent of the new Barbasol 1919. I would say its scent base is 40% Brylcreem and 58% Vitalis vintage hair products scents, with a touch of Aloe scent 2%.
I just received my Rockwell 6S razor yesterday and I must say, I know why it’s your daily driver!! That was one of the best shaved I’ve ever had!! Bravo Rockwell!!

I love brushless shaving creams! I use them between shaving soap shaves to keep my skin from drying out. They also have upped my shaving skill, since they aren't as "cushioning" as a lather, and have trained me to have a more cautious hand during my shaves.
I wish they'd make a soap, lotion, aftershave and fragrance of 1919. I'd buy all of them.
The Barbasol floating head razor(Awesome) and the 1919 shave creme (Awesome x2) is heaven of all shaves!

Love Barbasol 1919 Latherless shave cream. It's my "go to" preshave and it's stupid slick. And yes, we want a hard soap puck in that scent. It will take off like a rocket now that William's Mug Soap is gone.
I've used Cremo and Gillette Pure. They do not wash off easily but I don't thinks that matters. The residue doesn't effect the cutting of the blade during the shave. I do like the slickness of those products, the razor glides over the skin.
The start was a lovely tribute to Barbasol of old, and then we entered the Austin Barbasol Museum, home to a wonderful collection of recent and past items. Nice job👌
Just got mine in the mail today. Cant wait to try it tomorrow.
I unscrew my rockwell a bit to let more water get around the blade, after i shave (to clean it under water). works well. no big build up.

Got this for christmas. I love the scent as well as the glide. It's now in my gym bag and I shave in the shower. I have it really comfortable in the steam and cleans well off your face under the water. It definitely gunks up the cartridge razor quickly.
You should think about making your own double edge razor
I've gotten excellent shaves with my.vintage slim adjustable and the barbasol 1919 as a preshave underneath the original shaving cream from the can. Goes along great with mr fines American blend. If u like barbasol you'd love American blend mr fine

Today I ended up getting my replacement barbasol in the mall from the last package that got sent to me crushed some nice people at barbasol hope they see traditional wet shaving is making a come back wished they had made a aftershave balm of this love the smell of the shave cream
I just think that as time goes on things lose their scent or start to smell sort of waxy and the essential oils start to go rancid, even if it’s sealed. I bought a bar of soap from probably the ‘50s of ‘60s that was supposed to smell like blueberry and it was completely sealed and in good condition, but it just smelt like unscented soap. I’ve also smelled old talcum powders and lotions in antique stores that have that same slightly rancid smell. It probably smelt a little better back when it was new.
I'm loving the 1919! Been wetshaving for over 15 years, don't have time to have shaves with brushes and all that all the time. The magic has worn off. Need to get to places. Need a good razor, blade, and cream and about 6 minutes lol. This and Palmolive cream and Gillette Zero have been doing that wonderfully. About to try Helmsman. Thanks for the Barbasol videos!

Another enjoyable video! I like the vintage throwback or direction Barbasol is going. I wish it had the foam aroma and didn’t like the way it clogged up my razor. I’ll definitely give it a few more shaves.

Have you tried Barbasol face lotion? I use it sometimes after shaving. I think it smells great.

If I have like a weeks work of growth and after I do my first pass I know I’m definitely going to have hair and soap clumped on the blade. So I just open the doors and run it under the Fossett and if that doesn’t do it I just get it off with my fingers carefully

I would probably love the scent of the original 1950s Barbasol being I love the smell of soaps like Arko or Williams and Derby.

RK 516 I like it but as far as barbershops go I still prefer Stirling’s barbershop. I didn’t use mikes yet. My last shave about 2 days ago I used the St James Shave Stick
I've noticed the same thing with latherless creams sticking on the razor! Gotta rinse more diligently with those products for sure.

Good job Sinatra Lennon.....But shaving for me without the lather is like driving at dark without your headlights. Reminds me of the Cremo creams.

This looks a lot like plain hand soap. I've been experimenting with using a sponge and bar soap or liquid and soap. Works well for me.

As much as I love Barbasol 1919, I do think they should change it a bit. I think it should be more visible on the face so that I don't accidentally shave the same spot multiple times and end up with razor burn. And you have to REALLY water it down to prevent it from clogging your razor. If they made these changes, made a travel sized tube, introduced them to Target and Wal-Mart, and made an aftershave that has the same scent (I personally don't care if it's a Balm or Splash, but it should be alcohol-free), it would have a solid place in my rotation.

The Barbasol after shave balm pacific rush I have smells great. Maybe that’s what they are patterning it after.
Can't wait to try this out orderd mine on the 1st of October it's getting here I usually use soap and a brush but do have a can of green barbasol have used cremo back in 2014 didn't care for it much still have it thanks for the video was wondering when you would do this video cheers
Also do agree with you on the shaving soap would be cool if they put one out or a latherable cream in tube and maybe bring back a cheap version of the floating head safety razor also bring back the pacific rush aftershave I can't find that anywhere love the scent

This reminds me of an old shaving cream from Roffler, called Gentle Shave. My dad was a barber and used to carry Roffler products. The shaving cream had zero lather. It was thick and like here, would clog the razor.

I got the 1919 cream in the mail today I do like it but I actually prefer the 50s scent over this and the other kind. I also feel like at times it kind of felt like I was putting glue on my face, overall not bad but I like the vintage better
I can confirm Barbasol discontinued the Sensitive Skin Moisturizing tube. I was disappointed as I liked it when I had to shave faster than when using soap and a brush. I’m thrilled they’ve replaced it with what seems to be a superior product!
1:01 more like 101 Dalmatians. 1:14 I hope they’ll keep it online from Barbasol. 1:58 they discontinued the therapeutic shaving cream. 8:24 also, I’m going to get the package 📦 today from Barbasol and to use the ultra 6 plus 🪒 and to post my videos. 15:10 they still sell them online.

Found it at Menards (home improvement store) for $4.99. We'll see if I like it. I def like Cremo Coconut Mango. 1919 scent isn't bad, but it's not that great (IMO). I like classic manly scents but the 1919 smells like late 70s/early 80s pennystock trader Boomer.
If it comes right down to it do you prefer using Barbasol instead of shaving soaps?

6:28 I'd think you are damaging the tooth brush or the blades when doing that, unless you plan to only use each blade a couple of times.
A couple of times? That would be normal.... I think that is damaging the blade very quick!!

Also have tried a few brushless shaving creams here in the UK, not a great lover of them, don’t feel there is great protection with them, maybe barbasol could change my mind, but don’t think we will see it here in the UK.
