I have a heart condition, 4 titanium plated out ribs with 60+ screws 50% total lung volume and Lionel inspires me everyday when I go out and train to be my best and leave it all out there. When he sets a goal he will lay it all on the line the pain is necessary but to suffer is optional
Here I'm in 2024 and been on Zwift since Dec 2023 and seeing this now is totally amazing. Wish I was 30yrs younger or this was out in 1985 . I love Zwift
I watched it yesterday on Zwift but seeing it on Lionel's video recorded stream brings this race to another level. Super strong riders and of course Lionel and Anthony fought hard all the way to the top. Congratulations to Lionel, Anthony, and all the other racers.
There was only going to be one winner on the Alpe in both mens and womens races. Both LS ad LCB made it look easy. Once you went alone they knew there was only winner. Lionel Lionel Lionel
Amazing performance. I think his time was faster than Rohan Dennis's winning time when Team Ineos did a race on the same course in April...and crushed Cam Wurf's time by over 3 minutes 😆
I don't if I got your question right, but if I did, the trainer is automatically connected to the program, so when they climb, the trainer gets more difficult depending on the % of incline and also depending on the weight of each rider.
@@ejb82 thanks for the reply but that wasn’t what I was asking. In zwift you have a trainer difficulty setting. It’s a slider that you can change at any time. If you set it to half way then it halves the gradient you are going up. Just wondered if in a race like this they are all set to 100% trainer difficulty or can they choose whatever they feel works best for them.
@Treez 93 yeah I get that it’s really just a cassette change but for the majority of people having it set to 100% will mean your grinding at a lower cadence. 400 watts is a lot harder at 50-60 cadence than 400 watts spinning at 80-90 cadence. Your muscles fatigue quicker. Just wondered if they would mandate a certain level of TD to make it a level playing field (even though it’s not because everyone can have different cassettes in real life, thus changing the feel) Thanks for the reply 👍🏻
Great race, and great series. God I hope Kona actually happens in Feb. it seems Lionel is really in the zone right now....but can’t stay at peak for 8 straight months! With no “real” races, he’s not doing the usual 10 tapers throughout the season.....
@@rosslacey8555 are you implying what someone has done 4 years ago, he will do forever? or do you imply someone so proficient will not over extend themselves, like maybe at the ironman world championship. or are you implying that winning two short distance Olympics medals, qualifies you as a great climber.🙄
I've paused this a few times so he can rest.
Good idea... i will help him too!
To hold that wattage for that length of time is simply mind blowing!
First time I've seen his heart rate over 150
Lol
Yea I was gonna say it never hardly moved from any type of effort he puts in lol
Woof...😌That was a hell of a race to watch. Lionel at 167bpm... never seen before.
new to Zwift and just tried this route for the first time last night that last climb up to the radio tower I saw Jesus
Wow what an aggressive riding style, yet such a calm and cool dude. Amazing to watch. Inspiration in a time when it's needed most 🙏

My heart rate would have been 180 within 5 minutes of that climb... unbelievable
I know!! I was thinking the exact same thing
Absolutely smashed it - crazy high power!!!
Thank you so much for posting this in full length including pain face and commentary. Great stuff, Talbot !

Kudos to you, Lionel. Thanks for sharing!
Everybody: Proud to have lower hr numbers
Lionel: Proud to have higher hr numbers
what a monster! love when you start talking to yourself. such an inspiration.
Mental positive self-talk is helpful but I find verbal adds another element of pushing you through.
Absolute FREAK of nature @Lionel Sanders!
If I watch this I can skip a workout right? 🤔
@@W.C. lionel's a beast! 🙌
Saw it live yesterday, felt the pain and amazed you didn't puke at the end!!! This effort is beyond words!
The guy loves to crush the pain. Great stuff Lionel
0 dislikes says it all!! how can you not love this athlete. Respect
Awesome finish. TY Lionel! Go Lionel :)
NO WORDS! YOU A LEGEND AND A BEAST!

I'm sure Frodo is worried 🙄
Ross Lacey your bilateral hypertropia should be investigated
Congrats Lionel! What a beast ride
Just like a machine! Hard work!
dang... I have never seen that hearty rate on sanders. He was in complete beast mode!!!!!!!! No one stood a chance once that mindset was entered.
Well done Lionel and many thanks for allowing the camera to film you
LETS GOOOO! I got so frickin hyped watching this
Doesn’t even seem human! Crazy power!
Lionel , Congratulation! Great race and I am inspired! congratulation to all racers for great performance and show!
Great race to watch. Keep training hard I can't wait to see you race in real life.
Anyhow, Lionel, you are a super impressive athelete, following for inspiration!
I thought my heart rate was ok with most races being able to sit in the high 140s, but damn, Lionel's HR was insane for that amount of effort!!!
33.03 🤣😂🤣😂 well done Talbot... well done
Watch out world, the beast is unleashed!
really cool video, thank you Lionel, congrats! what a numbers you put in it! great job men
Dayum, smashed the stage. What a legend.
Yes! Beast mode.
It may be a virtual race, but the inspiration to go out and smash myself on the bike after watching this is real.
Great effort Lionel!
Liondel rides like how I used to ride before I had a bike fit, straight up on the rivet of the saddle, almost 100% on the pedals even when stitting.
Nice Video and congratulations
Impressive race, Lionel. Congratulations on your massive suffering capacity.
Yessss! Way to go Lionel!
Wtf 😅 Lionel’s zone 3 is my v02 max for 10 seconds!
You are the best!
Insane effort. Who knew your hr could reach 167 🥵 seemed to be a bigger effort than mt lemmon
Waw I love this so much
MONSTER!
What an effort!!! Maaaaan!!!
I am in this pain cruising flat road at speed 30 km/h. xD
i like how youre a big dude but sill out climb them because of just raw insane power.

Maybe he'll stop riding on his wheel in Kona now 🙄
Go on Lionel
which short is he wearing? thx guys
Come on bring it home for the channel🔥🔥
Jesus H Christ. And I thought I was getting fit doing this in under an hour. LOL.
im interested to know what trainer difficulty% were you on for this?
why he has 160 max HR, is that because of training volume or just a body specific?
GOAT
Anyone know what they set the “Trainer Difficulty” to in these races? Is it locked at 100% for them?

Abosuletly epic!!
I didn't know that those high w/kg is possible for human beeing.
Impressed!!
any idea why he did not use the Meilensteins? Should have a massive impact on Alpe even with the longer lead in
Waaoouuuwww perfect lionel...
does anyone know how to use an ehcelon bike (stationary bike) on zwift?
That went fast! Gg Lionel!
His bpm works properly?
it took me an hour and a half and i was at threshold for the majority... HOW do these people do this?!
Amazing 👍
What happened to the No limit line merch?
Boom! Well done
Great job Lionel. One question, why didnt you use the Lightspeeds or the Enve 3.4? You felt so good that you wanted to give them an advantage?
I think they level the playing field and make all setups equal for these
Which bike is he using?
Congratulation Idol
On those deep aero rims no less!
Amazing.
Amazing!
Can you do this stage anytime you want on zwift, we be never tried zwift and want too, and would love to do the alps
I think its call "Road to Sky"
@@jamesong1316 ok do you use a tacx neo trainer. By any chance
Come on lionel keep pushing!!!!!
Me watching this doing 200w at 151bpm. He’s a beast double my power is dizzying

Canyon was thinking about where the webcam would be when they gave Lionel that bike
super strong
Frigin' beast!
ouch. he is a master at suffering without blowing up. I wonder, did brownlee pop?
Yep I'm sure a double Olympic champion just popped 🙄

@@fritsgerms3565 I don't think you go from 6w/kg to 0 to 6 again instantly if you've popped. Alistair needs to sort is ANT+/internet out
@@Mike0 actually, that is what popped means. I asked the question because it would be interesting to know if it is equipment related.
My god what a mutant climbing performance
what bike you use in game?
Anyone know what his time was? I want to compare to Rohan Dennis!

Congrats and good vid. Order a green screen, e.g poker table felt. It'll make your videos that much cleaner.
Go you good thing!
Talk about a performance
What music do you listen to when training?
Is this done on ergo mode?
Beast!
That power!
