Great race with a perfect sprint! You mentioned riding with you on Zwift, how about starting a club and holding your own races. NorCal Zwift Race Series.
Great story telling! You had me feeling like you were defeated and surprised me with the win- but at the same time, your reaction felt like a classic Alviso NorCal win where you always pull through and get the W. Great video!
A lot of Zwift races are more about attrition and holding on rather than breakaways (although they do happen on occasion). The draft works from way further back than you think. Love seeing this as well as your Crit videos.
I concur. I experiment with drafting in the robopaced groups. I start getting pulled by a draft somewhere between 5 and 10 metres behind a group in front. If I am already drafting, I don't notice any difference between 0 and 3 metres.
@ yeah, if you get too close you loose sometimes. Where the avatar is on your screen is not necessarily where it actually is. Sweetspot seems to be around 3-5 meters. I should really use sauce.
Yeah, unlike in real races when there’s a break in a Zwift race it almost always consists of the strongest riders (so I guess it’s more of a selection than a breakaway). Unless it’s just 1-2 riders they’re rarely brought back.
I had this on my second monitor while I was working, mostly listening than watching. This was so well edited and narrated, I had to pause it, move it over to my main display, and watch the final few KM. Well done! Hell of an effort there!
What a result! Superb performance and great commentary. Looking at the stats, it looks like there are still opportunities for you to conserve your energy more!
That finish! Well done. This is super inspiring for the winter zwift season that I despise but understand is important for next season. Long time subscriber good to see you pumping out the videos still!!
Great ride! I was one of the riders in purple who was the “panic chaser” lol. Nice effort on the sprint mine is terrible that’s why I was following that train at the end hoping to get away
Hey Jeff I am in the Southbay and have been zwift racing for years now. ZRL and over 200 Team time trial races. I’m so glad to see you giving E racing and training props. Your aptitude on zwift racing is pretty cool to see develop. I’m locked in. Keep it up!
Congrats on the win. Lagging from the back of a group and drafting through the sprint is definitely the way to do it on Zwift. Even better when you have a drafting boost to spend. I use this strategy and often "win" the bunch sprints for 47th place in the D group. It's the small victories. 🚴💨
I’ve watched your videos here and there, today this video made me a subscriber! I love Zwift and I love racing! I did the Zwift epic race this year which took over 2 hours to finish and it was crazy! Please upload more of these type of videos really interesting to see a professional and how they race. Keep up the great work!
I'm here for more zwift race breakdowns. You should do user submitted ones too like your crits! The strat on zwift is just different enough it makes it interesting.
Dude the grunting & locking in at the end and then shouting did I win was classic that’s so funny! I just got zwift and a trainer so hopefully I can see you soon!
Great effort! Would like to see you doing tiny race series zwift insider as a sprinter. I have done a few and they soul breaking. Pure Vo2 max efforts. 🙏
This video is perfect: right size (not too long not too short) entertaining, informative, etc, etc, etc... Of course, it is great to see an A+ cat guy racing, it inspires me to keep improving my cycling fitness and skills.
Great insights into how you're thinking. The upcoming profile, knowing in detail what power all the riders around you are doing and having real time gaps means there's no excuse for getting out of position, aside from lack of talent, which is something I experience a lot ;-)
Great race mate. Perfect timing... you just had that little burst extra to get half a wheel on the line. Thats a hard thing to get with such a long race - so a top shelf win and you should rightly be pumped on it. There were two hill sections where you could have sagged a little bit more early on (when the gruppetto was still basically together), and I agree that not using the featherweight power-up on that last climb also cost you a little bit, but the reality is you were on the front and watts and HR were ok. Excellent work mate 🙂
If you want to participate in a zwift race with the best team tactics, then look at the Ladder League series; 5v5 Zwift race with descending points from 10 to 1 based on finish position. Loads of fun and lots of tactics.
The reason the peloton caught the solo rider at the climb was because the peloton was doing 33km/h on 5-6% grade so drafting matters a lot. Solo rider simply cannot match that crazy speed. This happens a lot on these short punchy 4-5% climbs in Zwift. One classic example is volcano KOM, where it’s common for sprinters (higher absolute watt) to beat climbers (higher w/kg) for the win.
Chase packs IRL have to modulate speed within the bunch. So everyone holds consistent power to whatever degree (motivated or not). I think that's why breakaway efforts are that much more doomed in zwift. The physics and math is probably accurate, but there's just so many more watts back in the pack since you can't crash.
love zwift its a great training tool, work out tool and you have fun doing it. id rather be out side but its 20 degrees and i dont winter ride. been hitting the gym trying to build muscle especially legs thinking it will help me be faster and go further with out fatigue. fell like i have dropped a little but that could be to the realigning of the race score.
Jesus im 64 im pretty quick for my age, and get a few kom,s and trophy's outside but the power you have on tap and can hold is what makes the difference between your age and mine! Brilliant effort......wish i could turn the clock back.
Is the community post gonna be on RUclips cause I’m thinking about doing a zwift race soon so I might as well try to go against you (btw good video today!😅)
Yes, this is what we want to see races that are edited down to less than 20mins 👌
Perfect length.
Indeed 🤘
Great race with a perfect sprint! You mentioned riding with you on Zwift, how about starting a club and holding your own races. NorCal Zwift Race Series.
Club! Club! Club! ✊
The best Zwift race breakdown I have seen. Awesome work.
Great story telling! You had me feeling like you were defeated and surprised me with the win- but at the same time, your reaction felt like a classic Alviso NorCal win where you always pull through and get the W. Great video!
Thank you!
This was awesome. More zwift races!!!

Stransky is hired 😅

Dude the grunting & locking in at the end and then shouting did I win was classic that’s so funny! I just got zwift and a trainer so hopefully I can see you soon!
That was awesome! Justbas fun and exciting as any good Alviso race. Great edit also. Keep it going.

Grupp was impressive!
Great job! You’re a machine on digital and physical roads. As I make the same transition back to digital racing, this was fun to watch and helpful.
Awesome! I really enjoy your content. As a fellow Zwifter who dabbles in racing on Zwift, I like your tactics and narration. Thanks!
love it! felt like a proud dad seeing you celebrate a Zwift race
Yay, congrats on the win. Excellent tactics to be one of your first e-races!
Love the play-by-play, a great race, congrats!
Best Zwift race I ever watched Love your regular content but as a Zwift rider this was a nice change.
Congrats on that win. I was wondering if you were going to catch that early sprinter but you pulled off a fantastic win on a very long ride.
I was cheering shouting at the sprint finish! I’m so pumped go go go jeff! Congrats for the win!
You got a new subscriber! Your commentary make this so fun to watch!!
Love the content.
Explanations with race tactics. Keep it up.
the excitement you had seeing you were 1st - priceless.
Great insights into how you're thinking. The upcoming profile, knowing in detail what power all the riders around you are doing and having real time gaps means there's no excuse for getting out of position, aside from lack of talent, which is something I experience a lot ;-)
Long way since your first Zwift race Jeff!! I still remember that video. Nice work!
Man, that was pretty much perfectly executed. I thought you had left it too late. Well done.
I love these type of videos - ready for more 😍

That was awesome to watch!! Well done and good to hear your thoughts as you went along. 🏆👏🎉
I loved doing this race and watching your recap, not enough epic long races in Zwift imo

Is he playing with real players in this race
YES YES Loved your commentary. Well done!
That was fun to watch and the commentary along the way provided the proper context. God if I could only put up 450 W for 20 minutes. Lol.
Awesome race, footage, and commentary. Nice win.
Masterclass. Stransky is a beast.
Well done! You got Grupp in the end! Looks like the guy that came 3rd had a mechanical two beats from the line poor guy.
Great video Jeff. Love to see your indoor content. If you ever wanna race team stuff let me know!
This race was awesome, congrats for the win!!
"Did I win?" Love that moment, man. That was awesome.
That is a very impressive win against strong competition. Congrats!

Such a good video. Best Zwift race I’ve seen.
Congrats! Biggest win of your career!! Proud of you! 👍👍😉

Your video editing and splicing together of the race is EPIC! I’ll definitely be watching your Zwift races. 🫡
You are in shape!
Man that ending was sick I was standing up!
Pls do more zwift race videos. This race had my heart pumping like I was the one racing 😂
That was sick. Posting when you're going to race would be cool.
This was awesome to watch! Great win!
Dude love themis sort of videos getting hyped
Its a bit early for you, but KISS100 on Sundays at 9:15ish EST / 6:15am PST (?) is usually a highly competitive and fun race.
That was rad. Nicely done Jeff!
I think you would like Sauce for Zwift. I find the draft gauge and the groupings widgets really useful.
Such a good video! Keep it up! More Zwift!
Nice ! More of those videos
Stransky reminds me myself - I know I won't win, so I push just to test my power and mess with people plans :D
thanks teammate! 🤙
That was awesome very strategic and well positioned
This is excellent commentary thanks!
First zwift race I’ve enjoyed watching 💪
Turning corners without slowing down in Zwift is dope.
Maybe you should do a Chase / handicap race where higher score racers start later, so we could all join you in the race.

I think that's why breakaway efforts are that much more doomed in zwift. The physics and math is probably accurate, but there's just so many more watts back in the pack since you can't crash.
Love these types of videos
Great video - with fine finish 🏁
awesome summary, keep up the good content!
Thanks, will do!

watching your sprint numbers and your w/kg thinking... I need to lose more weight 😆
Is the community post gonna be on RUclips cause I’m thinking about doing a zwift race soon so I might as well try to go against you (btw good video today!😅)
Well done! We do have to work on your sock game though, Jeff 🤣

As a fellow NorCal resident I get not wanting to ride cause of a storm but if you don’t ride in the rain, you basically won’t ever ride 😂
Hey! That comment was from me!
Look you're finally famous HAHAHA
